Review: Maybelline Vivids Lipstick in Hot Plum

26 Mar

Hello everyone! A new lipstick line from Maybelline and when I went to the store to pick them up the display was really empty… but I managed to pick up one! I will be searching around for the others but please bear with me for this one.

Description: A purple based pink with a creamy finish.

Review: I actually was expecting this shade to be a bit more purple but it is still a really nice berry pink shade to wear. Compared to the other shades in the range Hot Plum isn’t extremely bright but is still a statement lipstick that is different from all the hot pinks and oranges available on the market now. The texture is extremely creamy and has very strong pigmentation. Since the pigmentation is really strong the lipstick sticks around for some time after it worn off. Average wear time for myself was 2-3 hours without drinking or eating and the stain lasted throughout the rest of the day. I detected no scent from this lipstick. Overall, a great lipstick and a fun different shade to wear.

Cost: $ 7-9CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Review: Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips Lipstick in PK004

15 Mar

Hello everyone! A Korean product review today and it’s super duper cute.

Description: PK004 is a coral pink cream with a sheen.

Review: Etude House have released these lipsticks around this time last year and was a popular hit. I finally broke down and purchased one after some time. I am very impressed with the packagaing it is really girly and princessy-type of lipstick. My lighting is terrible but the shade swatch is pretty accurate. As you can tell it is highly pigmetned with a sheen due to the moisturizing factor in the lipstick. It glides smoothly across the lips and isn’t drying lasting time was around 3 hours without eating or drinking. This will transfer while eating or drinking but some of the pigmentation is left behind so there is a bit of a stain. The formula has a tendency to cling onto any dry skin on the lips so exfoliating is a must before using this lipstick. Overall, a great lip product and I would love to purchase more shades (if I didn’t already have a ton of lipsticks).

Cost: $10CDN @ ebay.ca various sellers

Would I recommend this product? This is a really nice lipstick and it’s semi-affordable (considering jacked-up prices) but if you’re lips aren’t in good condition this formula is not for you.

Review: Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine

1 Mar

Hello everyone! A lipbalm review today and it’s a pretty popular lipbalm amongst Youtubers and friends.

IMG_1400 IMG_1401 IMG_1402 IMG_1448

Description: A rich, buttery lip balm with a shiny tint of color. Shade is Jasmine a light neutral pink.

Review: The Korres lip butters are always talked about amongst my friends and a lot on the internet so I had some high expectations of this lip butter. I have to say that I am impressed about the formulation but am not happy about the price. Luckily I got this in a set so that reviews for the other lip butters will be coming up shortly. Now onto the product itself it is very smooth (like butter) to apply to the lips it took a few swipes to ensure that the product sunk into the lips instead of just sitting on top of the lips. As you can tell in the swatch there isn’t much pigmentation to this but there is a nice gloss finish on the lips. This product only lasts one hour but the lips still feel smooth even after the product has faded away. Overall, a nice lip product sadly the prices just make me shudder everytime I pick this up to use.

Cost: $16CDN @ Sephora & Shopper’s Drug Mart

Would I recommend this product? If you are curious and have money to purchase this product feel free but I would recommend that you wait until they are put into a set to purchase (more bang for your buck).
