Review: Maybelline Fit Me Stick Foundation

20 Jan

Hello everyone! A stick foundation that I’ve been using lately and thought I should review it before it ends up in an empties post.

IMG_2311 IMG_2313 IMG_2314 IMG_2316

Description: A stick foundation with a oil control core to prevent oiliness from breaking through.

Review: I love the idea of just taking 1 minute to do my foundation and this product allows me to do that. I just swipe on the product and blend with a brush and I’m done. It had an interesting texture of a gel/cream and blended like a powder. The finish is a very dewy/glowy look which is great all year around I didn’t mind it as much as I thought I would. Staying power was unfortunately only 4 hours and then it faded away the coverage is light-medium it covered some of my acne scars but not the new or deeply pigmented ones. The foundation glides on smoothly over the skin and I don’t notice any sort of oil control from the core. There is no scent and the packaging makes it easy to bring it along for touch ups throughout the day. What sucks about this foundation is that there is only 9g of product in it a regular foundation give at least 30g of product so if you are planning on purchasing this note the difference in the amount of foundation you receive. Overall, a quick and easy foundation for those who don’t have a lot of time and not so finnick-y skin.

Cost: $8-10 @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? This is a very convenient/easy product to use but for those with extremely oily skin it might not be the best.

Fancy Fridays

17 Jan

Hello everyone! Last year in the Fall Semester I decided to do a Fancy Friday as an excuse to wear my lovely lolita clothes. I unfortunately didn’t do very well with that as more and more school work piled on but I thought that I would share with you the outfits that I actually managed to dress myself up in. This isn’t everything that I did but some of the ones that I did get to wear.

Review: Wet ‘n Wild 8-Pan Palette in Comfort Zone

16 Jan

Hello everyone! A palette review today and this palette has gotten a lot more usage since these photos were taken as this has been one of my favorites to pull out for the lovely green shades for the holidays. Who are we kidding this palette works all year round!

IMG_1609 IMG_1611IMG_2189

Description: An 8-pan palette consisting of a cream yellow shimmer, pink shimmer, bronze brown shimmer, dark chocolate brown with gold glitter, greenish taupe shimmer, mid-tone grass green with shimmer, dark green with gold glitter and a duo chrome brown with green shimmers. My swatches doesn’t do this palette any justice.

Review: This is a great everyday palette especially with the colors on the left side of the palette. The shadows themselves are pigmented, blendable and easy to work with. With a primer they last 6-8 hours but without a mere 4 hours for all shades. They have a tendency to product fall out if you tap your brush in too much the powders are very loose in the pans. My favorite shade in this palette is the top left the taupe green shade because it’s such a unique shade that I don’t have in my collection at all. Overall, a great basic palette that everyone must have.

Cost: $3.99CDN @ local Supermarkets and Grocery Stores

Would I recommend this product? Yes! I mean what is not to love about this product?

No Beauty Spending Challenge

15 Jan

Hello everyone! A blog post for to day on a challenge that I am doing. Essentially what happened was me realizing that I spent a lot (and I mean a lot) of money on beauty products in the past year. So much that when the Sephora VIB Rouge program kicked in I was already a member which is crazy to think that I spent $1000 at Sephora in the past year. Granted prices in Canada are a lot higher than the US but more than $1000 at Sephora. That is insane and it’s not something I can afford again this year (plus the perks aren’t worth it).

So my sister challenged me to not spend anything beauty related (because she knows about the hoards of makeup that I have) for the next three months. If I buy any skincare, makeup, body care, and hair care I have to give my sister $20 on each product spent. That would be a hefty fee to pay for each and every beauty product that crosses into my stash. I have everything that I possibly need AND backups too! Do I need to buy anymore? Not for the next few months that’s for sure.

There are so many beautiful Spring collections and new products coming out during those months but you know what? I think I’ll be okay I promised myself that I would purchase those things once the spending ban is lifted. I think this will be a great challenge for me and hopefully I will save money in the next three months (and pay off my school fees/textbook costs).

(I’ll turn these bills into more bills!)

So, has anyone else put themselves on a limit or a spending ban in the past or currently? Let me know in the comments.

Review: Revlon PhotoReady Eyeshadow Quad in 530 Bohemian

14 Jan

Hello everyone! I am going through a backlog of posts so don’t mind the fuzzy floors. ^_^

IMG_1738 IMG_1739 IMG_1740 IMG_2181

Description: A trio of eyeshadows with a primer and glittery top coat. From top to bottom a light coral orange shimmer with gold shimmer, medium chocolate brown with shimmer, light baby blue shimmer.

Review: I love baby blue shades even though people say you shouldn’t wear it but it’s my favorite color! I think it works great for Spring/Summer looks and paired with a neutral outer v/crease shade it is a great color to wear. I really like the pigmentation and all the shades are shimmery the brown less so but they work very well together. The eyeshadows are all smooth and blend easily though it is very easy to blend the colors into non-existance. The primer is actually a really creamy powder and is a gold skin tone shade it works okay as a primer but I still apply another primer underneath. The glittering gold is a top coat that you can put on your eyes for a bright and fun look it is pretty smooth and applies quite easily. Overall, this is a great palette with fun shades.

Cost: $12-15 CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? This is a gorgeous palette for Spring and Summer I mean look at that blue it’s so pretty! This is a great fun palette to have to just brighten up your day.

Review: Wet ‘n Wild Blue Had Me at Hello 9-Pan Palette

13 Jan

Hello everyone! A fun palette review today which I am extremely excited to share with you all. Wet ‘n Wild is such an affordable brand no matter where you are and I love any blue eyeshadows so let’s get started on the review.

IMG_1613 IMG_1615IMG_2193

Description: An eight pan eyeshadow palette with awesome blues. Left column consists of a shimmering white, metallic silver, blackend navy with blue shimmers, matte black. Right column has a light blue shimmer, shimmer turquoise, royal navy blue, black with silver glitter

Review: Can you tell which color is my favorite? Obviously that gorgeous turquoise shade I think it’s the standout shade in this palette. The colors are pigmented especially with the shimmery shades but I usually have a hard time working with both the black shades in the palette. As you can tell in the swatches both blacks are not pure black and look a little patchy on my hand. This is good because it’s very easy to look like a raccoon if you have a black that is very pigmented. Wear time is average with an eyeshadow primer (7-8 hours without creasing) these are very easy to work with and blend. I just love this palette all year round. ^o^

Cost: $2-4CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? Absolutely yes! Even for those who do not wear a lot of blue eyeshadow it still is an affordable palette for those days you want to wear blue eyeshadow.

Review: Geek Chic Cosmetics Lip Products

10 Jan

Hello everyone! An indie brand post today which I’m really excited to share with you all and it’s on my new favorite lip products even though I just received them like a week ago.

IMG_2377 IMG_2383

Descriptions: (from L to R) Geek Chic Glosses in Banished (inky blue with shimmer), Health Potion (red with shimmer), Benevolent (bright pink with shimmer); Joysticks in Once Bitten (true red), Lipstick of the Shifting Sands (bright pink), My Little Pwny (frosty lavender),  Chrysalis (frosty mauve purple)

Review: Gloss – These glosses glide on smoothly with fantastic pigmentation and wear for about 2 hours time but I drink a lot of water so most glosses don’t last too long on me. I like that they are a click pen applicator as I can get all the gloss out of the tube and doesn’t the packaging look extremely cute? Banished was a bit hard to work with and I have to gloop it on if I want to get the really dark lip look that contrasts with my skintone. Health Potion and Benevolent have an awesome formula and they are gorgeous everyday shades.
Lipsticks – I love all the shades but wear Once Bitten and Lipstick of the Shifting Sands more often than the other two. I found it difficult to work with My Little Pwny and Chrysalis due to the amount of shimmers in the product itself. It wasn’t as smooth as Once Bitten and Lipstick of the Shifting Sands but they were a lot longer than the other two. I can get about 2-4 hours from Once Bitten and Lipstick of the Shifting Sands but from My Little Pwny and Chrysalis I got 4-6 hours which is awesome!

Cost: Geek Gloss – $4.99USD, Joysticks $5.99 available at geekchiccosmetics.com

Would I recommend these products? Yes, yes and yes! These are absolutely amazing and I love the way they feel on the lips and the color selection is amazing. I’ll definately be picking up more shades some time soon!
