Review: Wet ‘n Wild Trio in Silent Treatment

31 May

Hello everyone! I cannot say good things and am running out of words to describe these palettes other then they are awesome but I still must continue to do my best in reviewing these. We are halfway through reviewing all the trios that I own from Wet ‘n Wild.

Description: A trio with cooler eye shadows Browbone is a light shimmering pink, Crease is a dark glittering brown, and Eyelid is a shimmering cool-tone gray taupe.

Review: This trio is a gorgeous blend of light and dark colors and is definitely suited for cooler months. My favourite shade out of this entire palette is actually the crease shade and it is a little sheerer than most dark browns thus can be easily packed on for intensity or just a sheer darken brown perfect for contouring the eyelid. Once again, the eye shadows are smooth, buttery and creamy but can be blended off the eye very easily. Overall, a great palette for cooler months as well as for everyday purposes.

Cost: $3.99CDN @ Superstore and Walmart

Review: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

26 Apr

Hello everyone! A BB Cream review today as there is an ongoing hype around BB creams in North America I’ll start with this BB cream.

IMG_1536 IMG_1537 IMG_1540

Description: Claims as the 8-in-1 Skin perfector which will blur imperfections, brightens, evens skin tone, smoothes, hydrates, enhance, and protects skin with SPF 30.  Plus there is NO oils and synthetic ingredients. (all of this was written on the back of the tube)

Review: BB creams are magical products and they are wonderful all in one products that just make putting on makeup everyday more enjoyable and quicker. I have experienced Korean BB Creams and they are very different from the North American released BB creams. North American BB creams have a tendency to be tinted moisturizers and there is nothing wrong with the product they just label it differently and there isn’t as much benefits from the BB cream compared to an Asian BB cream. But putting that debate aside here are my thoughts on the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream.
I really enjoy using this everyday as it is not as heavy on the skin as foundation but it still feels like something on the skin (if that makes any sense). This does not have a lot of coverage *correction does not have any coverage at all. But it does give the skin a nice dewy look that can be easily mattified by powder. The texture is a light gel-like feeling and glides smoothly across the skin with no skipping. As for the claims it does help brighten the skin a bit but I haven’t noticed that my skin tone has been improving. I would call this more of a tinted moisturizer than a BB cream. Wear time was actually quite long it can last on my face for a full 8 hours when set with powder either that or because it’s so sheer I don’t even notice it even if it disappeared off my face. Overall, I feel this a great tinted moisturizer with SPF 30 for an everyday purpose.

Cost: 8-12CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I love that this has an SPF 30 unlike others on the market and is pretty good for a BB cream so a definate recommend for those looking for a good BB cream texture and not too much coverage. I would repurchase this mainly due to the SPF factor and that it does last some time and feels nice on the skin.

Review: Sugarpill Burning Heart Palette

5 Apr

Hello everyone! Indie makeup has lately been making headlines in my collection and I thought I would share a few great indie products with you.

IMG_1418IMG_1419IMG_1420IMG_1466

Description: An eyeshadow quad with coordinating shades in Buttercup (matte yellow), Flamepoint (matte orange), Love+ (matte red), and Poison Plum (matte purple).

Review: First, I must mention that I am not a big fan of matte eyeshadows (please don’t kill me) but I love that these shades are in that formula. In the industry matte eyeshadows are harder to create considering that they don’t have fillers (such as shimmer) so you are essentially getting pure pigments with matte shades. As that is most matte shades are not the best as they can be patchy in application or not work well with other eyeshadow types. But Sugarpill eyeshadows are plenty pigmented and smooth on very well (except for Poison Plum which is a little hard to work with). Flamepoint, Love+ and Poison Plum work very well on their own but Buttercup needed a white base underneath for the colour to actually show up on my eyes. If I just wore Buttercup by itself it would look like I had jaundiced eyes so having a bright base underneath really help brought out the colour. All shades blended easily with other eyeshadows and staying power was extremely excellent a full 8 hours+! Overall, a great palette and I am extremely impressed with Sugarpill cosmetics for making an awesome eyeshadow palette.

Cost: $34USD @ http://www.sugarpillshop.com/collections/shop

Would I recommend this product? This is an awesome eyeshadow palette for those who love warm, bright colours!

Review: Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips Lipstick in PK004

15 Mar

Hello everyone! A Korean product review today and it’s super duper cute.

IMG_1395 IMG_1396 IMG_1398 IMG_1440 In comparison to MAC Pink Pigeon (left side)

Description: PK004 is a coral pink cream with a sheen.

Review: Etude House have released these lipsticks around this time last year and was a popular hit. I finally broke down and purchased one after some time. I am very impressed with the packagaing it is really girly and princessy-type of lipstick. My lighting is terrible but the shade swatch is pretty accurate. As you can tell it is highly pigmetned with a sheen due to the moisturizing factor in the lipstick. It glides smoothly across the lips and isn’t drying lasting time was around 3 hours without eating or drinking. This will transfer while eating or drinking but some of the pigmentation is left behind so there is a bit of a stain. The formula has a tendency to cling onto any dry skin on the lips so exfoliating is a must before using this lipstick. Overall, a great lip product and I would love to purchase more shades (if I didn’t already have a ton of lipsticks).

Cost: $10CDN @ ebay.ca various sellers

Would I recommend this product? This is a really nice lipstick and it’s semi-affordable (considering jacked-up prices) but if you’re lips aren’t in good condition this formula is not for you.

Review: E.L.F. 32 Eyeshadow Palette – Warm

20 Dec

Hello everyone! Just got this palette from Winners and since I finished practicing some accounting I thought I ought to swatch and review for you guys.

Description: A 32 color palette with tantilizing warm shades. It also comes in a cool tone palette with brighter and cooler shades.

Review: First off I just want to say that I’ve been lately getting into palettes due to the fact that it’s a little easier to fiddle with one big thing rather than 10 smaller items.
This palette is a great everyday shade palette as you can tell from the swatches and palette photos there is a mixture of mattes, shimmers, and only 2 glitters in this palette. I really like the shades as they are warm but the colors are very wearable. The colors in general glide on smoothly and blend easily.
Pigmentation for the lighter shades is not as strong as the darker shades but the darker shades in the bottom right corner do not have good color payoff. I don’t know if it’s because of the formula but it’s not the most pigmented colors. The darkers shades were a bit harder than the lighter shades which was easier to dip a brush in and pick up color.
Overall, I think this is a great everyday palette and the packaging is quite classy looking as well.

Cost: $5.99 @ Winners or $5.00USD online at eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I really would it’s a great palette to use and the shades are pretty good it’s great from beginner’s makeup. This palette works great as a gift as suggested with the glittery box and I plan to purchase a few more for my friends.

Review: Dior Addikt Lipstick in 422 Tokyo

29 Jul

Hello everyone! Another high-end post today I think I’m on a high end makeup kick… anyways, onto the review.

Product Description: This lipstick is described as a hydrating lip color and has a hydrating and voluminzing property while giving color and high gloss shine. 422 Tokyo is described as a sheer peachy pink.

Review: First off, packaging. The packaging is pretty dense and has a heavy weight to it (the weight of luxury?) and the end opens up with a doorknob type feature at the bottom of the tube. The outside sports a nice shiny effect with multi color reflections and has Dior raised on the edge on one side. Absolutely gorgeous and stunning for lipstick packaging. The formula is a pretty good formula it does provide a nice sheen to your lips and is a pretty shade. I think the peachy pink shades work well for most skintones and it does have some micro shimmers in it. There is no scent to them and for complaints I surprisingly don’t have any (and it’s not like I don’t have any because of the brand/luxury of it). A great lipstick for those willing to spend money on it (my wallet practically died).

Cost: $28USD /$31CDN @ Sephora or Dior counters

Would I recommend this product? Yes I would totally recommend this product for those who are interested in the formula and are willing to spend a good amount of money on their lipstick. I will totally repurchase this lipsitck line whenever I find some money or win the lottery.

Review: Joe Fresh Duo Concealer in Light

12 Jul

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I picked up any Joe products but here is one for you. For those who don’t know Joe Fresh makeup line is an exclusive (though there are talks for Joe Fresh stores to open in the US in the future) to Canadian shoppers at their local Loblaws or Superstore locations. Anyways, onto the review!

(Top: Stick, Bottom: Cream)

Review: First off I have to say that I love the idea of two products in one and this is just perfect. There’s a concealer for what type of concern you are concealer, generally liquid for the undereye area and the stick for acne blemishes or other face discoloration. Both the products work very well on the face and blends out very nicely. The cream/liquid is quite more pigmented compared to the sitck side. I feel like it’s a bit drying especially on my undereye area. Another bad thing is that I chose the wrong shade (evidently shown in the photo) so I ended using this as a color base for my eyeshadows (which work great as well it’s not as great as some other opaque bases). Another downside is that it only comes in three shades. THREE shades! Light, Medium and Dark. Kinda sad in the color selection… but overall a pretty good duo concealer please Joe release more shades!!

Cost: $8CDN @ Superstore/Loblaws

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product but for me I would like to pick up the next darker shade and give it a go. It’s a pretty good concealer and works very well I would recommend this product for sure.
