Review: Revlon PhotoReady Eyeshadow Quad in 530 Bohemian

14 Jan

Hello everyone! I am going through a backlog of posts so don’t mind the fuzzy floors. ^_^

IMG_1738 IMG_1739 IMG_1740 IMG_2181

Description: A trio of eyeshadows with a primer and glittery top coat. From top to bottom a light coral orange shimmer with gold shimmer, medium chocolate brown with shimmer, light baby blue shimmer.

Review: I love baby blue shades even though people say you shouldn’t wear it but it’s my favorite color! I think it works great for Spring/Summer looks and paired with a neutral outer v/crease shade it is a great color to wear. I really like the pigmentation and all the shades are shimmery the brown less so but they work very well together. The eyeshadows are all smooth and blend easily though it is very easy to blend the colors into non-existance. The primer is actually a really creamy powder and is a gold skin tone shade it works okay as a primer but I still apply another primer underneath. The glittering gold is a top coat that you can put on your eyes for a bright and fun look it is pretty smooth and applies quite easily. Overall, this is a great palette with fun shades.

Cost: $12-15 CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? This is a gorgeous palette for Spring and Summer I mean look at that blue it’s so pretty! This is a great fun palette to have to just brighten up your day.

Review: Holika Holika Midnight Owl Blush Shade 02

26 Jun

Hello everyone! Another cute blush review today I obviously can’t have enough cute items in my makeup collection.

IMG_1651 IMG_1653 IMG_1654 IMG_1655 IMG_1657 IMG_1665

Description: A light pink highlighting blush.

Review: Don’t you just love the design of this blush? It’s so cute I can’t stop staring at it when I actually work up the courage to use it. This is really really sparkly which has it’s own merit but for those who have large pores this might not be for you. As you can tell in the swatches each one of the shades is really pigmented (except for the green… I think they don’t want you to look like an alien) and the fantastic bit is that all of them are shimmery! This goes on the cheeks really well but it doesn’t stay on your cheek for very long. I find that I can blend this off my face unless I use a really sticky BB cream or foundation without setting with powder then it sticks around. Wear time really is only 4 hours, close to 5 hours if you set with a finishing mist. That is the sad reality of this beautiful blush it isn’t up to par for an everyday look. On the bright side it looks fantastic on the cheeks in both real life and photography. Overall, a cute blush but you shouldn’t run off to get one yourself.

Cost:$18-20CDN @ ebay.ca

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this for those who really love a novelty product

Review: Milani Color Statement Lipstick in 14 Rose Hip and 15 Hot Pink Rage

13 Jun

Hello everyone! These lipsticks have finally popped up in Canada which is extremely exciting. I didn’t need anymore lipsticks but I had to pick some up from this line after all it smells like watermelon!

IMG_1727 IMG_1729 IMG_1732 IMG_1735 Top: Rose Hip, Bottom: Hot Pink Rage

Description: Rose Hip is a bright bubblegum midtone pink cream, Hot Pink Rage a midtone watermelon red-pink cream.

Review: Both of these shades are cream finishes which is my preferred finish in lipsticks. The both glide on very smoothly and stay on for 3-4 hours without touching up; 2-3 hours with eating and drinking. These leave a stain behind once the lipstick fades and the stain did last for a full 8 hours. For those who are sensitive to scents these are watermelon scented and it can sometimes be overpowering. As you can tell from the swatches they are extremely pigmented crazy pigmented. These glide on smoothly over the lips (if you have lipbalm over them) and doesn’t look patchy at all. Overall, great lipsticks for the price and the pigmentation and shades are to die for!

Cost: $5-8 CDN @ Superstore, Target

Would I recommend this product? Yes, these are great lipsticks it’s just sad that they aren’t readily available.

Review: Wet ‘n Wild Trio in I Dream of Greenie

3 Jun

Hello everyone! We are halfway through and this second portion is all the colorful trios from this line which is really exciting. Let’s get on with the review.

IMG_1635 IMG_1638 IMG_1670

Description: A fun green themed palette with the Browbone a light shimmering mint green, Crease a shimmering mossy green, and Eyelid a bright glittery lime green.

Review: All the eyeshadows were very easy to work with and are extremely pigmented. The problem that I have with this one is that it is a little loose in the pan as shown with the browbone shade. This one had a lot of fallout and there is a high possibility of the eyeshadow breaking in the pan as the eyeshadows are really soft. Of course these are pigmented nicely but if blended out too much they will bleed into the other shade or you can blend away the actual shade itself. Overall, a bright fun trio that requires some time to ensure that it looks nice on the eyes.

Cost: $3.99CDN @ Superstore and Walmart

Would I recommend this palette? Yes, it is a stunning selection of greens perfect for any warm weather and especially for St. Patrick’s Day.

Review: MAC Lipglass in Lychee Luxe

24 Apr

Hello everyone!

IMG_1552 IMG_1555 IMG_1554 IMG_1557

Description: Lychee Luxe is a coral with gold shimmers.

Review: MAC’s lipglosses have a reputation of being sticky and not easy to work with but I disagree. I like that they are sticky and hard to work with because it just means that the staying power is longer than most slippery lipglosses. I got 4 hours wear time with the usual drinking and talking. And as you can tell from the swatch it is a nice warm shade of coral and just brightens up the face. This has a tendency to clump when it reaches some dried skin on the lips so smooth lips are a must. All of MAC lipglosses have a vanilla scent to them which is a nice bonus. Overall, a great gloss just don’t wear this gloss on windy days as your hair will stick to it indefinately.

Cost: $18CDN @ maccosmetics.ca or counters at The Bay

Would I recommend this product? Yes! This is a great everyday lipgloss that would look great with all kinds of skintones.

Review: Essence 3D Eyeshadow Duos

23 Apr

Hello everyone! I cam across these eyeshadow duos and thought the design were really interesting and of course, I had to pick up a few.

IMG_1471 IMG_1473 IMG_1475 IMG_1480

Description: 04 Irresistable Caramel Cream – Light champagne frost and light tan brown with shimmer, 06 Irresistable Mermaid Kiss – baby blue frost and light-midtone blue with shimmer

Review: I love duo eyeshadows as they are easy to use on a daily basis and you don’t have to worry about eyeshadows working together or in the same color family. This reason was one of many why I decided to pick these up and I also love blue and neutral eyeshadows. Plus isn’t the design on these really cute? I really like that these shades are shimmery as they add a brighter effect to the eyes perhaps lending to the 3D effect they speak of to the eyes. Both of the eyeshadows in each duo are pretty pigmented and blend well on the eyes but if you blend too much you can blend them off your eye (that was interesting when it happened). They were very smooth and was great to work with. Lasting power though not too long without eye primer they lasted 2 hours before attempting to make an escape off my eyes but even with eye primer they lasted 5 hours. Overall, a great start for those beginning to dabble in makeup but not for veterans used to long-wearing extremely pigmented eyeshadows.

Cost: $3.49CDN @ Shopper’s Drug Mart

Would I recommend this product? These are awesome starter eyeshadows with a fun design but for those who have similar shades there is no need to purchase these eyeshadows.

Review: Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick

19 Apr

Hello everyone! I’ve been loving this product lately as it is quick and easy to use. My apologizes for the really bad lighting in all the photos.

IMG_1482 IMG_1484 IMG_1487 IMG_1491 From Left (top) to Right (bottom): Bulletproof Beige, Paranoid Purple, and Tempting Turquoise

Description: Bulletproof Beige – a light shimmering champagne beige, Paranoid Purple – a dark grape purple cream finish, and Tempting Turquoise – a bright cyan blue with shimmers

Review: Lately, I have been using a lot of quick easy to use products because I spend less time in the morning getting ready (hey sleep is important okay!). These work great by themselves and with other eyeshadows on top as well. They do not crease nor smudge even after the 6 hour mark and that’s without an eye primer. Even the shades are gorgeous there were several shades available and I love all the names. As you can tell by the swatches the shades are pigmented and the pencils themselves just seem to glide across the skin. Even as an eyeshadow base they work well under powder eyeshadows really picking up the intensity if they are in the same color family. I will definately pick up more as they work great as a quick and easy eyeshadow look.

Cost: $5-7CDN @ local drugstore and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? Yes these work great as bases for eyeshadows even without an eyeshadow primer or by themselves.
