Skincare Routine: September 2013

30 Sep

Hello everyone! I have a skincare post that I have been meaning to do for the past little while. As you know I went on Accutane and since that experience is over and done with I’ve been meaning to show you what sort of products that I use to help me get rid of the scars leftover. Well here are the products that I use on a daily basis and would recommend to anyone who is looking for some great basic skincare products. Since I change out a lot of my products I plan on doing another one in a few months time.

IMG_1601

Makeup Removers – MAC Cleanse off Oil (not shown) – This was a new addition when I started using makeup daily but I have always been a firm believer in removing makeup before actually cleansing the skin. I like this product but I’m not really loyal to any cleansing oils so it changes every time I finish a bottle.
Neutrogena Dual Phased Eye Makeup Remover – I love dual-layer eye makeup removers and Neutrogena makes one of my favorites but since discovering the Maybelline Clean Express version I don’t really want to purchase the Neutrogena anymore because of price points. But putting price points aside this sort of products is what I will continue to repurchase.

Cleanser: Spectro Gel for Blemish-prone skin – Definitely one of my favorites to use the gel formulation is wonderful and gentle on my skin. I’ve been using this cleanser for about 5 years now and it’s always a staple in my skincare routine.

Serum: Naruko Raw Job’s Tear Whitening Serum – I have been using Naruko serums on and off for the last 3 years and they make my favorite serums. The texture of these are wonderful and absorb well into the skin I always have one on hand because they are just that awesome!

Moisturizer: Bare Minerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer for Combination Skin – When I was on Accutane I actually used the Dry skin version of this moisturizer and really like it but I’m not really a big fan of this one. The earthy soil like fragrance really gets to me everytime I use it so when this is done I won’t be repurchasing.
Naruko Raw Job’s Tear Night Gelly – This is technically a night cream for me but in gel format which is really cool and it’s really cooling at night as well. I do notice my skin looks a little brighter when I use this but the effect doesn’t last so in the morning I look not so bright.

Eye Cream: Kiehl’s Creamy Eye treatment with Avocado – This has replaced my usual favorite Clinique All About Eyes Rich and it is a bit cheaper considering the amounts that I get in a little jar. I really like the way this feels on my eye area and despite it’s $56CDN price tag I am willing to repurchase it when I run out.

Sunscreen: Biore SPF 50+ Sunscreen – I have to say that I exclusively purchase Asian sunscreens because they last longer, don’t have that weird sunscreen scent, better packaging, and better textures. But out of all the Asian sunscreens that I have tried Biore is one of my favorites and I have purchased many of their products. SPF is important even in the winter!

Extra: Origins Super Spot Remover – One of my favorite spot treatments it’s so satisfying to see that a large zit has been reduced to almost nothing the next day!
Rocky Mountain Soap Company Cherry Lip Butter – This has always been a staple in my skincare I use it at night to ensure that my lips aren’t chapped in the morning. I keep going back to this because this product is just that awesome!
Systane Eye Drops – I usually use the lubricant kind but couldn’t find it so this version is what I have been using. When I was on Accutane my eye doctor was like “OMG your eyes are as dry as the Sahara desert!” and then proceeded to recommend me these brand’s drops and it is really good. I really like them and even though I’m not on Accutane anymore it really like the way it feels and this has stuck in my routine since.

Well that was everything I hope that you enjoyed this post and since it’s the end of the month there are some more update posts on the way.

22 Things before 22 – Not completed

24 Sep

Hello everyone! So an update on how the 22 Things challenge went since my birthday was the past Thursday. Now that I am 22 I feel sort of young but not really… anyways, let’s see how I did for this. BTW, this is a large text-based read so don’t say I didn’t warn you.

1. Go to Comic-Con Calgary Extremely fun and I am debating if I actually want to attend next year in Calgary or in Edmonton.

2. Go to Animethon – Has a fun time with my family and got some awesome things.

3. Start making Youtube videos – Didn’t happen… but what actually happened is that I started vlogging everyday so far in September. All the videos are private though because I am not completely comfortable showing those videos to people and it’s just a project for myself to remember what went on in my life. So this is semi completed but I’ll cross it off.

4. Go to the Mutart Conservatory – I didn’t get to go… so sad…

5. Make a gluten-free cake – I actually completed this the weekend before and wasn’t able to get the picture up but here it is! I don’t think I’m a big fan of gluten-free things but it was good especially with cotton candy icing on top… yummy.

IMG_1063

6. Watch Soul Eater – Watched and I am so glad that I actually watched this it was really awesome!

7. Watch Kimi ni Todoke Seasons 1 + 2 – Watched it and have been catching up with the manga releases here in Canada.

8. Purchase a Lolita outfit – Completed and I have purchased a few more dresses as well… haven’t worn it out yet but the day will come soon!

9. Finish Cake Cushions – Didn’t get to this one which makes me a little sad because this project has been sitting around waiting to be done for about 2 years…

10. Sew a patchwork quilt – I purchased the fabric as well as batting and everything but I didn’t get around to sitting and sewing it all together… Now that I think about it all the fabrics I picked were Christmas themed so maybe it will be completed in the near future?

11. Make 30 cards – I made several cards for upcoming birthdays so about 7 cards but I didn’t make the 30 mark. I will be starting on Christmas cards as soon as I clean up my desk but yeah didn’t end up finishing this.

12. Marathon The Lord of the Rings trilogy movie – Didn’t get to marathon this because it’s SUPER long but my family is planning to do a Harry Potter marathon during Winter Break so that’s exciting.

13. Read The Lord of the Rings trilogy – Didn’t get around to reading it because I get distracted by other books. I will seriously get down and read this trilogy sometime soon.

14. Drink something from Jugo Juice and Booster Juice – Both really good juice places just not something I am willing to spend on when I can make the same thing at home. Orange Julius is another story though.

15. Get ears pierced – I was planning to get this done before my cousin’s wedding but I didn’t have the guts to do it and reading recommendations online about not going to places with guns practically scared me. I don’t know how I feel about earrings anymore…

16. Go Bowling – Didn’t get to go because of no time and work and then school started. Sometime next year maybe?

17. Go laser tagging – Didn’t get to go as well… seriously I think my family just doesn’t like to go out lol.

18. Play Ni no Kuni – Purchased this and it is still sitting at home not even played yet… I feel iffy using my brother’s PS3 to play a game that I purchased even though he’s all cool with it. Now that school has started I will never ever play this until either Winter Break or next summer.

19. Visit Crepe Symphony – I went to this place twice and both times it was extremely delicious!

20. Eat at IHOP – We didn’t get to go which is a little saddening but I will go and eat here someday.

21. Play Pokémon Black 2 – I started this game but I haven’t finished it or anything but I have played it so I guess I can cross this out?

22. Read Garth Nix’s The Keys to the Kingdom series – This is completed and I am glad that I got closure on this series I always wondered what happened after Wednesday.

Completed: 11/22

Not bad I actually finished half and there are some things that I regret not doing like laser tagging and finish sewing my little cakes but there will be time for that when I get school breaks or when I get bored of working on homework and don’t want to clean. Yeah… anyways, hope this post was interesting I just needed closure on this as it is my own sort of journey to become a better person who completes things that have a deadline. 🙂

Beauty Stash: Bath & Body

18 Sep

Hello everyone! So I actually keep a stash of products in my bathroom to use for obviously bath and body stuff so here is how it is stored and what products that I have in it.

The storage box is actually from IKEA and fits into a tall standing case thing that houses five of these boxes. Mine is obviously the top one (since I’m so tall jk),

IMG_2141 IMG_2142 IMG_2145

And here are the items themselves:

Bath & Body –

IMG_2147

Products: Nivea Free Time Shower Cream with Starfruits, St. Ives Oatmeal Moisturizing Lotion, Bath & Body Works Pink Sugarplum x4, Frosted Snowberryx2, Twisted Peppermint x2, Wild Berry & Tulips, Aveeno Baby Sunscreen x2, Milky Dress Whitening Cream, True Blue Spa Mango Body Butter, Steam Cream (sheep tin), Lush Each Peach Massage Bar, Rocky Mountain Soap Company Cherry Body Butter

Total: 19 products

Can I say wow… I am actually impressed to see that I have deducted my body wash section to just one as a backup but I ought to just use up all the lotions I have before purchasing anymore.

Hair –

IMG_2150

Products: L’Oreal Power Moisturizing Hair Mask, Ojon Rare Blend Oil Treatment, Liese Smoothing Cocktail, Tresemme Heat Protectant (not shown), Fructis Garnier Hold & Flex Non Aerosol Hair Spray( (not shown), Tresemme Volumizing Dry Shampoo (not shown)

Total – 6 products

Not too many hair products I am not too high maintenance when it comes to hair so I only have products that I only use once in a while. I think this is a healthy amount of hair products to have.

Miscellaneous Others –

IMG_2151

Products: Bath & Body Works Linen Hand Sanitizer, Veet Hair Cream Remover, Lady Speedstick Deodorant in Strawberry and Watermelon, Bath & Body Works Fresh Picked Strawberries Cream sample, Vaseline Convenient Size, Dove GO Fresh Deodorant in Plum & Sakura Blossoms, Bath & Body Works Beautiful Day lotion sample, two pack toothbrushes from Colgate

Total – 10 products

Many of these things I take out quite often I need the sample sizes for my work since my hands get so dry and I always stock up on deodorant when it’s on sale (then I don’t have to buy for about 9 months) and of course I always need toothbrushes. My sister likes to take my new toothbrushes because she goes through about one toothbrush a month. I would like to get rid of my hand sanitizer though… perhaps part of a pamper package basket for the Holidays?

Skincare Stash (all of these are new products or partly used in the case of face masks) –

IMG_2156

Yikes that is a lot of skincare that I have stocked up… Let me break it down by product type:

Cleansing: Kao Japan Cleansing Oil Sample, Biore Cleansing Oil, Simple Cleansing Wipes x 2 (4)

Toner: Holika Holika Aqua Fantasy Toner, Naruko Raw Job’s Tears Whitening Toner (2)

Serums: Doctor’s Tretinoin Cream (Vitamin A), Naruko Raw Job’s Tears Whitening Serum, Boscia Tsubaki Beauty Oil (3)

Moisturizer: Cerave samples x3, Naruko Raw Job’s Tear Cream, Naruko Raw Job’s Tears Day Lotion sample, Josie Maran Argan Oil x2, Bare Minerals Moisturizer for Combo-Oily Skin, L’Oreal Ideal Moisture SPF 25, George’s Intesive Cream sample, George’s Cream sample, Neutrogena Sensitive lotion, Holika Holika Aqua Fantasy Emulsion, (13)

Exfoliators: Cure Natural Aqua Gel, St Ives Green Tea Face Scrub (2)

Face Masks: True Blue Spa Green Tea Foaming Face Mask, True Blue Spa Pumpkin Moisturizing Mask, Naruko Tea Tree Pore Clearing Mask, Etude House Moisturizing Overnight Face Mask, Formula 10.0.6 Deep Down Detox, Sephora Intensive Moisture Mix Yourself Mask, Laneige Multiberry Face Mask (7)

Extras: MAC Careblends in Grapefruit+Camomile, Biore Pore strips (14)

Total – 46 products

That is a lot of skincare the sits around because I am actually quite lazy to purchase more when the time comes and I would rather stockpile them. Especially for things like Asian sunscreens usually I would have quite a few but I am on my last one and have ordered a few more. But out of all this I think I would like to decrease the face mask section as well as the moisturizer section. There is quite a bit of products in both but since I don’t use masks everyday those take a lot longer to finish then moisturizers.

What’s in my Shower?

16 Sep

Hello everyone! I know I like to creep around other people’s bathrooms to see what they have and find a common ground (why I do that curiosity). So I thought I would share with you what I have in my shower because that really doesn’t seem like an invasion of privacy. ^_^ Here is the photo:

IMG_2140

And the products in the shower are as follows:

Herbal Essence Moisturizing Shampoo and Condition

Head & Shoulders (nicknamed Head Off Shoulders in my family) Shampoo

Bath and Body Works Carried Away Moisturizing Shower Cream

Kao Essential Nuance Airy Intensive Moisture Hair Mask

Tony Moly Coffee Face Scrub

Clean & Clear Morning Burst Fruit Infusion with Mandarins and Acai

And everything is held together by a shower caddy purchased at Target.

Beauty Stash Storage

13 Sep

Hello everyone! Since I have completed the Beauty Stash product Show & Tell it is time to show how the heck I store all that makeup. Sadly I really don’t like the way that I am currently storing them but since I do want to downsize my collection I thought doing it this way works for now.

IMG_2121 IMG_2123

Sorry for the dark photos the collection is stored in the back of the closet so there you go. Everything is stacked in front of the makeup drawer so all the products in the drawer are things that don’t see too much usage. Ideally I want to get all the makeup that I actually use into just the one drawer so that is my goal for the next little while. I wonder how long that will take but I will form some sort of plan for that in the meantime I plan on showcasing my nail polish collection, perfume/body mists and bath and body products. With that this is the unofficial end to the beauty stash photos.

Favourite Fall Lipsticks

12 Sep

Hello everyone! A fun post for today since the weather is slowly getting colder and colder I have been pulling out all my darker lipsticks. I still love my brights so I will be showcasing what lipsticks I will be rocking for the Fall. Of course I couldn’t choose just 10 I had to pick 12.

IMG_2127 IMG_2130 IMG_2136

First row: Revlon Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Socialite, ELF Mineral Lipstick in Rich Raspberry, MAC Plumful, Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie, Maybelline Color Whisper in Who wore it Red-er, MAC Rebel, MAC Apres Chic (limited edition)

Second Row: Clinique Chubby Stick in Voluptuous Violet, Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Blissful Berry, Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Embrace, Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet, Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Hot Plum

Now that I see all the lipsticks lined up Maybelline’s Hot Plum looks really out of order lol.

So most of the shades actually look like MLBB (my lips but better) shades but I like to save my redder lipsticks for the holiday seasons but some of the berry lipsticks are one of my favourites to sport. All of these lipsticks are fantastic so definitely check them out!
