Review: Geek Chic Cosmetics Lip Products

10 Jan

Hello everyone! An indie brand post today which I’m really excited to share with you all and it’s on my new favorite lip products even though I just received them like a week ago.

Descriptions: (from L to R) Geek Chic Glosses in Banished (inky blue with shimmer), Health Potion (red with shimmer), Benevolent (bright pink with shimmer); Joysticks in Once Bitten (true red), Lipstick of the Shifting Sands (bright pink), My Little Pwny (frosty lavender),  Chrysalis (frosty mauve purple)

Review: Gloss – These glosses glide on smoothly with fantastic pigmentation and wear for about 2 hours time but I drink a lot of water so most glosses don’t last too long on me. I like that they are a click pen applicator as I can get all the gloss out of the tube and doesn’t the packaging look extremely cute? Banished was a bit hard to work with and I have to gloop it on if I want to get the really dark lip look that contrasts with my skintone. Health Potion and Benevolent have an awesome formula and they are gorgeous everyday shades.
Lipsticks – I love all the shades but wear Once Bitten and Lipstick of the Shifting Sands more often than the other two. I found it difficult to work with My Little Pwny and Chrysalis due to the amount of shimmers in the product itself. It wasn’t as smooth as Once Bitten and Lipstick of the Shifting Sands but they were a lot longer than the other two. I can get about 2-4 hours from Once Bitten and Lipstick of the Shifting Sands but from My Little Pwny and Chrysalis I got 4-6 hours which is awesome!

Cost: Geek Gloss – $4.99USD, Joysticks $5.99 available at geekchiccosmetics.com

Would I recommend these products? Yes, yes and yes! These are absolutely amazing and I love the way they feel on the lips and the color selection is amazing. I’ll definately be picking up more shades some time soon!

Review: Maybelline Color Whispers in 25 Lust for Blush

28 Jun

Hello everyone! I will be reviewing a popular lip shade from Maybelline’s Color Whispers line. I really love this line of lipsticks they are fantastic.

IMG_1720 IMG_1721 IMG_1722 IMG_1725

Description: A light pink “my lips but better” shade cream finish.

Review: This is a pretty basic lipstick shade a creamy “my lips but better” shade that would work well on many skintones. Formulation wise it is a nice lipstick with a smooth glide across the lips and has adds a slight tint to your lips to enhance them. Wear time isn’t great with these lipsticks I get about 1-2 hours if I’m not eating or drinking anything but I think that’s the appeal of the lipstick. That it is easy to reapply and touch up throughout the day without needing a mirror. Overall, a lovely lipstick shade from this line and would love to get more lipsticks from this line.

Cost: $6-8CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? Yes, this is a universal shade that I think a lot of people will like to use on an everyday basis.

Review: Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick

19 Apr

Hello everyone! I’ve been loving this product lately as it is quick and easy to use. My apologizes for the really bad lighting in all the photos.

IMG_1482 IMG_1484 IMG_1487 IMG_1491 From Left (top) to Right (bottom): Bulletproof Beige, Paranoid Purple, and Tempting Turquoise

Description: Bulletproof Beige – a light shimmering champagne beige, Paranoid Purple – a dark grape purple cream finish, and Tempting Turquoise – a bright cyan blue with shimmers

Review: Lately, I have been using a lot of quick easy to use products because I spend less time in the morning getting ready (hey sleep is important okay!). These work great by themselves and with other eyeshadows on top as well. They do not crease nor smudge even after the 6 hour mark and that’s without an eye primer. Even the shades are gorgeous there were several shades available and I love all the names. As you can tell by the swatches the shades are pigmented and the pencils themselves just seem to glide across the skin. Even as an eyeshadow base they work well under powder eyeshadows really picking up the intensity if they are in the same color family. I will definately pick up more as they work great as a quick and easy eyeshadow look.

Cost: $5-7CDN @ local drugstore and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? Yes these work great as bases for eyeshadows even without an eyeshadow primer or by themselves.

Review: MAC In Extra Dimension

15 Apr

Hello everyone! So MAC has released a few limited edition collections this month and surprisingly I only picked up one item from this collection and I’m getting the 2nd collection item sometime next week.

IMG_1572 IMG_1574 IMG_1573IMG_1575

Description: Bright shimmering lime-green eye shadow. It comes with 2grams/0.07 US Oz.

Review: This is the third time MAC has released the Extra Dimension formula in the market (first time last year in Mar and Nov for the holiday) and this is exciting as the Extra Dimension formula is one of the best formulations that MAC has to offer for those who love their metallic shine. Personally I love a little Extra Dimension in my life but not too often so these have a special place in my heart for those I want glitter on my eyes but not real glitter because they are a pain to apply. It’s an Extra Dimension day! The formulation is very smooth and pigmented and Zestful is such a fun shade. I have worn this by itself and it really lit up my eyes and it works well as a layering eye shadow to brighten the base shade. Wear time was typical for an eye shadow 6 hours without primer and 8 hours with primer I love that the metallic effect stays on the entire time and doesn’t fade. All the Extra Dimension products have a strange plastic scent to me but I’m glad my skin doesn’t smell it. Overall, I love the formulation and would purchase more if only it wasn’t so expensive per eye shadow.

Cost: $25CDN @ maccosmetics.ca, and MAC stores/counters in the Bay

Would I recommend this product? This is a lovely eye shadow shade that is a multi-tasker and I think would work great with all kinds of skin tones. If only the shade and formula were available year-round and not limited edition.

Review: Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips Lipstick in PK004

15 Mar

Hello everyone! A Korean product review today and it’s super duper cute.

IMG_1395 IMG_1396 IMG_1398 IMG_1440 In comparison to MAC Pink Pigeon (left side)

Description: PK004 is a coral pink cream with a sheen.

Review: Etude House have released these lipsticks around this time last year and was a popular hit. I finally broke down and purchased one after some time. I am very impressed with the packagaing it is really girly and princessy-type of lipstick. My lighting is terrible but the shade swatch is pretty accurate. As you can tell it is highly pigmetned with a sheen due to the moisturizing factor in the lipstick. It glides smoothly across the lips and isn’t drying lasting time was around 3 hours without eating or drinking. This will transfer while eating or drinking but some of the pigmentation is left behind so there is a bit of a stain. The formula has a tendency to cling onto any dry skin on the lips so exfoliating is a must before using this lipstick. Overall, a great lip product and I would love to purchase more shades (if I didn’t already have a ton of lipsticks).

Cost: $10CDN @ ebay.ca various sellers

Would I recommend this product? This is a really nice lipstick and it’s semi-affordable (considering jacked-up prices) but if you’re lips aren’t in good condition this formula is not for you.

LUSH Starter Kit

8 Feb

Hello everyone! So I have a guide for you today. This is for those who are new to LUSH products with some advice, product recommendation and a general review of the products. I’m thinking about doing this sort of guide for other stores/brands such as Bath & Body Works, Maybelline and the list goes on. But today the focus is on LUSH.

About LUSH: So LUSH is a cosmetics store that offers bath, body, and skincare products that are fresh and handmade. Big claims for a company but they have followed through and are very ethical in their business practices.

The Products: LUSH is well-known for their soaps, bath bombs and bubble melts basically luxury in a bath. But have expanded their product line to shower gels, body moisturizers, massage bars, hair care, and lip care. I don’t take baths (my mom forbids it thinking that it wastes water) so this sort of limits my selection from LUSH. But out of all the products I’ve tried I love and once I get my own bath tub I would love to try their bath bombs and bubble melts.

Soaps: LUSH has many different kinds of soaps but since I love citrusy/fruity scents I’ve only picked out a few of my favourties which were the wintertime soaps. My favourites include Honey I Washed the Kids (even though it’s not fruity I still like it) and is one of LUSH’s top-selling soaps, Snowglobe only available during the wintertime and I stock up on it because it’s very refreshing; Bohemian another fresh lemon smelling soap, and Miranda which is a fruity soap with kiwis. All their soaps are bright colorful and work nicely into a lather.

Honey I Washed The Kids Soap(Honey I washed the Kids soap buy HERE)

Advice: You can tell the salesperson helping you how much of the soap that you want and they will cut up the price amount for you. You don’t have to spend more than you want to. (if the salesperson is very good at cutting soaps than they will be a range of  being a $1.00 over or under)

Massage Bar: My favourite out of them all is Each Peach (and two’s a pair!) due to the citrusy fresh scent. They have various other scents of vanilla, chocolate floral ones, and even glitter massage bars for those nights out. These last for an extremely long time and is one of my favourite body bars to use in the wintertime.

Each Peach (and Two's a Pair)(Each Peach Massage Bar buy HERE)

Advice: If you purchase two massage bars you can get a free tin to hold them in.

Facial Skincare: I have purchased a few of their face skincare because of the lack of extensive items used in their products. I have reviewed one of their products before which was Grease Lightening the review here.
The fresh face masks are most popular but don’t last long (about 6 weeks) before you have to chuck them. I have no space for these (since they have to be kept in the refridgerator) so I’ve never purchased one. The only mask that doesn’t have the quick expiry date is the Mask of Magniminty and it smells… very minty.

It is a great mask for those with oily skin and my skin loves it. Here’s a scary photo.

They also have cleansers which are pretty cool but some must be kept in the refridgerator.

Fresh Farmacy(Fresh Pharmacy Cleanser buy HERE)

For toners you got two choices a traditional liquid toner or have a spa-like experience with toner tabs. I like toner tabs as they feel really luxurious though my neck gets a little tired after using them. All you have to do for the toner tabs is to drop one in hot water and allow the steam in the water to have extra properties adding moisture, controlling oil, or just destressing your face. It’s a lot of fun and even though you might not get extra benefits it still feels extremely nice.

Tea Tree Toner Tab(Tea Tree Toner Tab buy HERE)

Advice: You can purchase a set of 7 toner tabs for $9.95CDN (a $3.70CDN saving!) only for the $1.95CDN line not the $2.95CDN line.

So all these products I would totally recommend to those starting off with LUSH you don’t have to go out right now and buy everything I mentioned in this post what is most important is knowing your preferences for scents and just picking up what you like. Hopefully I’ve made this post informative for those new to LUSH and I apologize for it being so long… there’s just so much products available at LUSH!

Review Extension: L’oreal Infallible Eyeshadows

2 Oct

Hello everyone! So since I already reviewed the Infallible eyeshadows I’ll just be doing a quick walk-through for these shades purchased.

L-R All Night Blue, Purple Obsession, Goldmine, Permanent Khaki, Sahara Treasure, Unlimited Sky.

All were extremely pigmented and wore great the only shade i have issues with is Purple Obessession which doesn’t have much pigmentation nor did it glide across the skin evenly as the rest of the shades.

And here is the review for the other shades that I have link here.
