Review: Tarte Smooth Operator Finishing Powder

22 Mar

Hello everyone! A fun Tarte post today this is one of my first Tarte items and it was courtesy of Sephora’s 500 point perk.

Description: A natural loose powder which will mattify and smooth out the look of pores on your skin. Translucent is the only shade available.

Review: I really wanted to love this powder as I do with other products that are considered natural but I really dislike this powder. To me it feels like I’m putting baking powder all over my face not a pleasant feeling but it felt extremely smooth gliding across my face. I wore it for a full day and only had to touch up once 8:00pm rolled around (makeup all applied by 7:00) which is darn impressive. But it’s the texture that puts me away from purchasing a full-sized version of this. The packaging is nice and compact  with a nice design it’s simple but has a nice touch to it. I was glad that despite how white it looks in the pot it is transparent so no Casper looking faces were made. My sister tried this (because she was curious) and over-applied and that really accentuated the dry flakes on her skin which was interesting. So a little goes a long way with this. There are only 5 ingrediants in this product: silica, kaolin, lecithin, lysophosphatidic acid, and lysolecithin. Silica explains the smoothness of the powder while kaolin helps control oil. Overall, I think it would be a great product if I didn’t dislike the texture and the method of application.

Cost: Free with 500 point perk @ Sephora; full sized – $28USD/$36CDN

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend to try this product out first through a sample to see if you like it. If you absolutely adore it feel free to pick it up but if you didn’t like it you won’t end up wasting money on a full-sized product.

On the Look out: Mar 28, 2010

21 Mar

So this is a product look out that I’m putting up. I’m planning to get this and it is…..

The NEW Nintendo DSi XL!

This is the UK versions… comes in the described as burgandy, white, and bronze. Currently the bronze and burgandy are available in America.

This is a future planning purchase because I have an original DS Lite which still works great and has a bunch of scratch marks from the stylus (going to replace that screen soon though). I don’t like the color selection so I’m going to wait until they come out with some other colors and then I’ll go and get it.

BTW, coming out Mar 28, 2010 in Canada and retails for $199.99CDN.

Nightime Foxy look

28 Feb

It’s been a while since I’ve posted up a beauty makeup thing. So this is a neutral brown nighttime look… I should do a daytime look sometime soon. ^_^ Anyways, so here is the look:

 I look so white… O.O

So the products that I used are as following:

Maybelline Pure Makeup in Classic Ivory

Covergirl Fresh Complexion Concealer in no idea what shade

Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Loose Powder

Maybelline Quad in Chai Latte (all colors were used)

NYX Slim Eyeliner in Black

Joe Fresh Eyeshadow in Black (to set the eyeliner which has a tendency to smudge)

Covergirl Professional Super Thick Lash Mascara in very Black (as if I can get black enough)

Joe Fresh Blush in Pink

N.Y.C. Bronzer in Sunny (discontinued by the way)

Shiseido Perfect Rouge in Tender Sheer (sample size)

Hmmm… in the picture you can’t really tell that I have on bronzer and blush…. maybe I gotta pick up more product but I guess it was due to flash that the colors got washed out. That’s what happens when you go on a nightime look that isn’t really nightime…

Anyways, I am quite pleased with myself… I have gotten a lot better at putting on makeup and such so because of that I pat myself on the back. Hopefully I can get more colors and such so that I can try out different looks. The only colors that I actually have are white, black, browns, blues and one green color. Never done a smokey look…

The Effects of Lighting

9 Feb

This photo was just for fun today but I noticed something about it…

 Now guess what’s missing!

Due to the lighting I look like I’m missing an eyebrow… rawr! That and my eyeballs look quite out of proportion…

So as you can tell lighting can make a huge difference in what you are photographing… I don’t have any other examples except for this one any my other photos of previous posts… but it’s actually not that sunny outside but so much light is coming in. Scary!

Something new that I came across:

Top Row L-R: Bling Dynasty, Red My Fortune Cookie, Hot & Spicy, Dim Sum Plum, Jade is the New Black, Suzi Says Feng Shui

Bottom Row L-R: A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find, Lucky Lucky Lavender, Meet Me on the Star Ferry, Panda-monium Pink, Pearl of Wisdom, I’m Chop-Sticking to My Story

They are all such beautiful colors! I’m thinking about picking up… Dim Sum Plum, Panda-monium Pink, Pearl of Wisdom, Suzi Says Feng Shui… they all look so good! Next time I’m heading to Haare Kosmetiks I am definately picking up some of these colors and a base coat. ^_^

Well, off the studying again got a midterm tomorrow so I mustn’t be distracted by pretty nail polish colors!
