Review: Maybelline EyeStudio Quad in Spirited Seas

6 Feb

Hello everyone! Since it’s Spring (not official but getting close) I thought I would pull out all the brights that I have. This quad is more of a summer theme but paired with warm and pastel shades it’s great. I love it so much that I’ve practically hit pan on each shade! (Please note that I have had this quad for 1 and a half years now)

Description: A tantalizing quad for spirited seapeople! The shades are a peachy champagne, a frosty light blue, deeper gray-blue, and a shimmering bronze.

Review: First I gotta apologize for putting this off for a really long time… it took me a year and a half to get this review up. Shame on me but hey it’s finally here! Onto the review! This quad is great in a sense that it has very summery shades the blues and the bronze work really well together. Pigmentation is pretty good I found that the texture of the shadows were in general very creamy and easy to blend. But the shade that I had most difficulty with was the third shade the dark gray-blue. It wasn’t as smooth to apply nor as pigmented and I felt that the blue didn’t work well with my skintone. Other than the dud of a blue the rest of the shades were great. Packaging isn’t the most sturdy but it is small and fits well in my drawer of eye makeup. I wouldn’t repurchase due to the fallout with the baby blue and bronze shade (perhaps because it was really creamy). Overall, a very nice quad from Maybelline and standards have gotten kinda high for drugstore eyeshadows.

Cost: $6-9CDN @ various drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I would as it is a very good quad for those who love their summer blues and great for those who love pigmented creamy eyeshadows but would tell others to avoid if you don’t like spending more than 3 minutes on your eye makeup.

Update & Food

10 Jul

Hello everyone! So painting and moving still isn’t finished… yeah I know it’s been about 2 weeks now I apologize! I assumed that my family would just be painting to bedrooms and not the whole house but we are painting the whole house including the ceilings which take forever! And since everyone works till 5 we just don’t have the time to do much in the evenings so on weekends we just rush and what not. So you won’t be hearing anything from me soon but I’m going to leave a few photos of me eating out with my brother and sister at DQ and a picture of my current room (new room). In the meantime I’m going to try and find my camera… it seems to have disappeared while moving.

My brother’s share is there too I don’t eat two burgers in one sitting… not anymore at least….

Nothing like it

29 May

Hello everyone! A special post today as I usually don’t post on Sundays but today my brother and I mowed the lawn and there is nothing like a freshly mowed lawn. Take a look for yourselves.

It took quite sometime to mow both the front and back yard and took a total 5 garbage bags. At leatst we didn’t have to mow Central Park.

Donut Days

9 Oct

Hello everyone! I just want to share some photos with you today. ^_^ Since I had time today I decided to pick up the new Tim Horton’s donut that I’ve been wanting to try (Strawberry Bloom!!). When I got there… they said that they didn’t serve it anymore…

So I got a different donut…

The donut’s flavor is Pumpkin Spice. Not bad, not bad at all. ^_^

World of Cosmetics Counters

22 Jul

Hey everyone! A post on cosmetics counter etiquette and how to deal with the salesperson who is assisting you making your choice in either cosmetics or skincare.

My favourite counter to visit when I go to the department store (which I don’t do very often) is Shiseido. Mainly due to makeup and sometimes asking about their skincare. Shiseido is a well-known cosmetics company in Asia and well it kinda makes sense that I get a lot of my skincare tips and makeup tips from Shiseido.

Some etiquette tips to be the best counter shopper evar! Or well you won’t be the best but you’ll look like a really nice person and the sales rep will be more than willing to help you.

So there are a few things before approaching a counter:

First you need to determine what you are going there for so that you don’t overspend on items that you won’t need later on or regret buying (and can’t return).

Second is allot time for counter shopping as you are chatting with the sales rep you are spending a lot of time discussing what is best for you (for me the conversation can begin with skincare and end up with eyeshadow colours weird huh?).

Now tips for surviving the actual counter:

Tip #1

Become a germaphobic while trying out makeup at the counter. You have no idea where the product has been and what it has been through so if you want to see the colour just swatch it on the back of you hand. I mean who would like to get herpes or some skin disease just because of the tester product.

Tip #2

Say NO if you don’t like the product either the way it feels or the color selection. Be proactive about your purchases because at department store counters you don’t have the option of returning items that don’t suit your skin tone or you dislike.

Tip #3

Be proactive as stated in #2. If you don’t state what your skin type is or what colours you like the sales rep can’t help you as much.

Tip #4

If there is a sales rep that you absolutely LOVE (I mean as listens to you and knows you pretty well) ask for her contact because that sales rep is the only one that knows whats best for you and will tell you about new products that would interest you or promotions that their counter is having. (Now I haven’t visited Department stores that often but there is a sales rep that I absolutely adore but she moved to a different Shiseido counter where I have no idea but I totally regretted not getting her contact info.)

This is all the tips that I can come up with for makeup counter etiquette I know that lots of people have had great and bad experiences with some counters. I find that if you are patient and nice the sales rep will treat you fairly as well though I have had my fair share of horrible or not so attentive sales rep assist me.
