Review: Missha Watery BB Cream

21 Feb

Hello everyone! This review is for a BB cream I’ve been loving and it was one of my first BB creams.

Description: A BB cream for your best face forward. It is said to contain 60% water and makes the skin feel moisturized and looks glowy. The undertone of the BB cream is very ashy/gray toned.

Review: As with all asian BB creams a majority of them have squeeze-tube packaging and is readily available online. The shades ranges from 2-3 but in this case there is only 1 shade offered thus I found that a majority of light to medium skintones can wear this okay but not any darker skintones. This has a dewy to matte finish which finish is dependent on how much product you use. The more the dewy to less the more matte it is. The scent wasn,t to overpowering in this just a very light floral scent. Now the texture was very interesting it was like there was water molecules in the product itself but none of that was presented when I squeeze out the product. Wear time is around 4-5 hours and this does not control the amount of oils on your face so oily-skinned gals you need to prep and prime your face. This is very easy to blend but there is not a lot of coverage so I mainly use this and spot conceal to cover everything else (on good skin days). Overall, I really like this BB cream it is a really nice formula and the extra moisturizing benefits are very helpful in the winter months.

Price: $26.00CDN @ asian beauty store in Vancouver (don’t remember where sorry!) or online

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product to those looking for a moisturizing BB cream who are light to medium toned.

Review: Benefit Girl Meets Pearl

17 Feb

Hello everyone! Another mini-sized product from Benefit is going to be reviewed today. I’ve recently been loving the brand as they release out such great sets. This sample came from a Christmas set and I also have another one waiting to be used from the new Porefessionally Pretty set.

Description: For a healthy glow reach for the Girl who Meets Pearls for the first time. A golden pink cream to enhance and luminize the skin.

Review: Since I got the sample sized version of this (two of them actually) I just like how it dispenses the right amount of product but when I went to go try ou the full sized version I didn’t like how it dispensed the product. A quick Google search will bring up photos of this glue stick in which the product is dispensed through the top with a screen of sorts. I feel as though the packaging made sure to dispense a lot product and you couldn’t really control the amoun that you want. The product itself gives your skin a really nice glow that isn’t too glittery nor does it seem fake like High beam does on my face. As for the texture of the cream it is very smooth, blendable and just seems to glide across the skin. I use this mainly as a highlighter for my face but sometimes I mix it with my foundation to create a glowy dewy look without looking too oily. I love this product but the packaging and price puts me off purchasing another one well, I always have sample sizes to work through.

Cost: Full-sized $34CDN @ Sephora or Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutiques

Would I recommend this product? I would this is a really nice highlighter for the skin

Nailing It!: OPI Bubble Bath

3 Feb

Hello everyone! So in the past month or so I wore a lot of brightly colored polishes (you know to combat winter blues) but today I decided to be a little neutral with my polish. I will be rocking this neutral shade for the rest of this week and change it up into some color next week… hopefully.

(Oh my God it just looks like nails!)

Review: Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Bronzer

2 Feb

Hello everyone!

I’ve lately been liking this line from Physician’s Formula lately and I’ll be posting up the blush review later since I got the blush and bronzer in a two-pack.

Description: Infused with Happy Boost blend made with plant extracts to mimic endorphins to make you happier. The scent of violets will uplift your day and keep you in a field of happiness.

Review: I bet the packaging department was having a field day when they got the ideas for this product. It has bright pink exterior with heart designs pressed into the bronzer itself. The bronzer has a great heart design and the scent of violets is a nice touch and not too strong but I don’t think it makes me any happy using it… it’s still a nice bronzer though. I found that some of the shades were very dense but some of the other shades were not as dense. For example the pink heart is not dense and I could see an major indent the more I used the bronzer but the rest of the bronzer I found difficulty getting product out of the pan. I don’t know if the brown shades were packed in more dense but it didn’t blend as smoothly or gather a nice mix of the product. Don’t get me wrong the product is pigmented but just the way to apply this bronzer is very difficult. The shade is very muddy nice as a contour but I don’t think that this bronzer is going to work with all different types of skintones. Overall, I think the shade is a nice bronzing shade but due to the texture and the awkward mix of shades I wouldn’t recommend this.

Cost: $15-20CDN @ local drugstores

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this for those who love nice designs and cute packaging but I won’t repurchase this or recommend it based on the product itself.

Review: ELF Matte Lip Color

22 Dec

Hello everyone! This is the last of the ELF review marathon. Whew I apologize for the sheer amount of posts today but hey I’d rather be blogging than working or helping my mom bake.

Description: A lip crayon with a matte finish. Shades are Tea Rose (mauvey pink) and Praline (dark brown based pink).

Review: I didn’t get to take a picture but there is quite a bit of product in the tubes itself. The shades are based on the opposite spectrum. Tea Rose is a cool tone lipstick (which is why it looks awkward on me) and Praline is a warm brown based lip color (those work best with me). The texture is not smooth as expected with matte lipsticks they tend not to be smooth while applied to the lips. With a matte finish it does have a tendency to emphasize dry lips or flaky lips so I recommend you exfoliate and moisturize before putting on this lipstick. The lipstick is very pigmented and packaging is a nice crayon format which makes it easy to apply to the lips and you can line your lips at the same time. It has a twist up design which stores a lot of product. Overall, it is a matte lipstick which acts like a matte lipstick but does have pretty good pigmentation.

Cost: $3USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I find that the shades themselves are not really flattering and matte shades are very hard to pull off due to the texture and finish but I do like the product itself. I don’t know if I would recommend these to others or not so I’ll just leave this section as an ‘buy if you are curious’ or buy if you love matte lipsticks.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake

21 Dec

Hello everyone! A review again today… it will be a review day… everyday!! Anyways, these lipsticks are pretty well reviewed in the Youtube beauty community so hope you don’t mind me adding in my thoughts on this.

Description: Buttery smooth lipsticks with a perfect amount of pigmentation. Strawberry Shortcake is a light pink shade with tiny sliver shimmers it is not very detectable on the lips.

Review: Could I just say how impressed I am with this formula. It has that perfect texture of a balm smoothing over the lips very nicely but the pigmentation is awesome. They sort of remind me of Clinique Chubby sticks (which I absolutely adore) and Dior Addikt lipsticks. I know what your thinking “Comparable to Dior Addikt lipsticks get out of here”. But they are very same in terms of formula and the pigmentation is absolutely lovely. Revlon lip butters are more pigmented than both Dior and Clinique based on one swipe across the lips. There is no noticeable scent which is great and I try not to eat lipstick so I can’t comment on the taste of this lipstick. Packaging is well done and has a similar quilted design like the Colorburst line. Overall this is a great buy from the drugstore and I will be off to go find some more!

Cost: $6.49 – 11.49CDN @ local drugstore and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I totally would these have an amazing formula and they are very comparable to Dior Addikts lipstick line. I would buy more if they aren’t all out of stock everywhere I go.
