Review: Joe Fresh Duo Concealer in Light

12 Jul

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I picked up any Joe products but here is one for you. For those who don’t know Joe Fresh makeup line is an exclusive (though there are talks for Joe Fresh stores to open in the US in the future) to Canadian shoppers at their local Loblaws or Superstore locations. Anyways, onto the review!

(Top: Stick, Bottom: Cream)

Review: First off I have to say that I love the idea of two products in one and this is just perfect. There’s a concealer for what type of concern you are concealer, generally liquid for the undereye area and the stick for acne blemishes or other face discoloration. Both the products work very well on the face and blends out very nicely. The cream/liquid is quite more pigmented compared to the sitck side. I feel like it’s a bit drying especially on my undereye area. Another bad thing is that I chose the wrong shade (evidently shown in the photo) so I ended using this as a color base for my eyeshadows (which work great as well it’s not as great as some other opaque bases). Another downside is that it only comes in three shades. THREE shades! Light, Medium and Dark. Kinda sad in the color selection… but overall a pretty good duo concealer please Joe release more shades!!

Cost: $8CDN @ Superstore/Loblaws

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product but for me I would like to pick up the next darker shade and give it a go. It’s a pretty good concealer and works very well I would recommend this product for sure.

Review: Bonnebell Gel Bronzer in Luminizer

5 Jul

Hello everyone! Summer bronzer time though today’s review is just a highlight but it’s still a bronzy shade.

Review: A gel luminizer adding a golden glow to the skin. This is one of my favourite products to use during the summer as it adds a subtle but tannish sheen to the skin. There are no glitter chunks just fine shimmer to the product. The consistency is really nice it’s not too thick or too watery just a nice cream product which makes blending very easy.  Only a smidgen is needed for this (in the picture I put too much on my hand) and it lasts all day. No scent to report nor any change in texture as I’ve had this for over a year now. Overall, a really nice summer addition to your makeup collection and it just addeds a nice sunny glow to your skin.

Cost: $2-6CDN @ drugstores and Supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I would it adds a nice subtle glow to the skin with a hint of bronzey glow perfect for the summer!

Beauty Intro: Joe Fresh Beauty

26 Feb

This is going to be another branch in the beauty section of my blog. Beauty intros are introductions to a companies products that I would like to try and I will also post other peoples thoughts on them. Most of peoples thoughts will come from MakeupAlley. Companies that I will review will most likely be from drugstore companies and maybe some higher end brands such as MAC or Shu Uemura.

So Joe Fresh beauty… not much is known about it as it is a specifically a Canadian drugstore brand that is only found at Loblaws or Superstores across the nation.

They have a wide range of products and all the products are under $10CDN. Some of the most listed or wanted products include cheek tint, tinted lip balm, felt tip liner, cream lipsticks, and eyeshadow.

The products that really stick out for me are:

Cheek tint in Nude, Peach, Pink, Cherry, Berry and Bronze. $4CDN

Blushes in pink (review coming up), pale peach, plum, berry, and rose. $6CDN

Fine Liquid eyeliner in black or brown. $6CDN

Lip stain in sheer pink, candy, peach, apple, watermelon, and cinnamon. $6CDN

Cream lipstick in many different colors. The colors that I want to try are strawberry, watermelon, and coral. $6CDN

If you want you can check out all the products and shades at http://www.joe.ca/en/bath_beauty/.

Enjoy!

Review: Ecotools Makeup Brushes

25 Feb

A review on Ecotools Makeup Brushes. So here are the brushes that I have from Ecotools and I have been using them since I got them in July… so it’s been about 8 months. Photo of them.

I have the 6 piece set and the powder brush. The 6 piece set includes a blush brush, concealer brush, slanted eyeliner/brow brush, all over shadow brush, brow/eyelash comb brush and the brush roll made of hemp. These brushes can be purchased at Superstore, Walmart, and London drugs. I believe that they are cheaper at London drugs than at Superstore or Walmart but you can look at those places and decide on which ever place you want to buy them from.

Review: When I first bought these brushes I thought that they would be scratchy and stuff but the bristles were really really soft for each and everyone of the brushes. Even the brush roll amazed me at how soft it was despite the fact that it was hemp. Each of the brushes are extremely soft and they feel really nice on the skin.

Now onto each brushes purpose, the powder brush is for your translucent powder but I find that it is quite fluffy compared to other brushes and due to its fluffiness it doesn’t pick up and distribute powder evenly over my face. I still use it as I really like the feeling of it compared to other brushes that I have tried and returned.

The blush brush is pretty dense and really does distribute blush evenly and is soft to boot! Picking up color on this brush is easy as one swipe across your product. A great powder blush brush.

The concealer brush is a wide multicolored brush and since I wear concealer most of the time I usually use this brush so it might seem like its worn out. It is a perfect width across as I can swipe this brush anywhere on my face and still be able to blend in my concealer really well. I really liked this brush as it worked for lots of different areas on my face.

The angled brush which can be used for eyeliner or brows. I use this brush to line my eyes and to me it is the least softest of the brushes. It was quite harsh and really hurt my eyes while I was lining my eyes. But it works nicely as a brow powder brush.

The all over shadow brush picks up a lot of product and is dense but where it lacks is that it doesn’t distribute the product evenly over my lids. Overall a nice and soft brush though.

The brow/eyelash comb brush is average as is any other brow/eyelash comb on the market.

Cost: Powder Brush – $8.49CDN, 6-piece set – $17.99CDN

Would I recommend these products? I would totally recommend these brushes to others who are starting off with makeup or want to be eco-friendly to the environment. They are so soft, great brushes, and are relatively cheaper than most other drugstore brushes (other drugstore brush brands include Annabelle, Joe Fresh, Quo, etc.).

Deals of the Week

22 Feb

Here are some of the deals of the week and these are the items that I picked up. I probably won’t have many of these posts as it does seem to be a bragging post that and the only things that I buy all the time is food. ^_^ So for those who live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada these deals are going to be held until this Friday which is Feb 26 and they are pretty good deals.

First up, I gotta mention the stores that I went to. The first place was Lemon Tree to get myself something you’ll see it later… then it was Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, and then Superstore.

The items:

The brushes are from Quo which is Shoppers Drug Mart makeup brushes… they even have their own line of makeup too! But anyways, those brushes were 40% off. So in total they were… let’s see… about $33CDN. If I bought it full priced it would have been $46CDN. Yeah… saved a lot of money.

From Rexall which is a chain of drugstores owned by Darrel Katz, also known as pharmaprix in some other Canadian places but what I actually got from there is the pressed powder which is N.Y.C. Translucent powder and the Maybelline Quad in Chai Latte. They were both 20% off and the total came to under $10. It wasn’t that much so compared to Shoppers I only saved about $3.

The last place that I went to is Superstore and they had a deal on Covergirl mascaras… not all of their mascaras but the professional and the exact collection. That and some crackers… hooray triscuits! They were 2 for $9.00 so I saved a lot there. Yippee! I’m excited to try them out. Both are in Blackest Black as my eyelashes are really… well being asian black.

So the special item that I got was this:

This doll is a Momiji Doll. A pretty doll. Just for me. Her name is Rainbow she likes shopping, fashion, and long division. Just like me! There is only one place in Edmonton that sells these doll, I would very much like to get some more. Of course, ones that speak my personality. ^_^

Well, that will be it for today…. sorry for double posting.

Popcorn Love

12 Feb

Pretty good day today… everyone loved the Soba that my group prepared for everyone! Hooray I’m a good cook! It is basically a party day today… gotta make sure that I don’t gain any weight from all this splurge eating. At least now it is Reading Week. A whole week off of school! So much to do so little time! Gotta make a list but to celebrate the week-long break I decided to celebrate with popcorn and not just any kind of popcorn… MINI POPCORN!

Yummy stuff!! I discovered these minis while flipping through the new Blue Menu book thingie at Superstore. Man, they are really yummy and proportioned out really good! Only 100 Calories per bag better than the larger one pictured above which is about 250 Calories per bag. Though from now on I think I will still be getting both kinds because I mean the smaller ones will  be for me and the larger ones I will definately share with the rest of my family. I love popcorn.

So that will be it for today, I am going to karate class later on today and then going to go over to my aunts house to celebrate the new year. Hooray Lunar New Years!

Long time no post

10 Dec

Hello, a very long time since I posted. Well to me it feels like a long time. Dieing during the exams it reignited my passion of hating exam situations. Ugh, horrible stuff. I really don’t like it at all. Luckily only one more exam left which is positive.

Went on some retail therapy to cool off after taking 3 exams with no breaks. I went to go and check out Londonderry mall… it took a really long time to get over there… then again it was in the north end. I made sure I had a pen just in case something happened.

So I went to a bunch of places which is very very positive. ^_^ Winners, Shoppers Drug Mart, Ardenes, Claire’s… Dollarama can’t forget Dollarama. I didn’t get much as I am on a budget (or trying to). That was at Londonderry but I also went back to Southgate because Londonderry didn’t have any wallets that I liked. Well, technically Claire’s did but I didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t put my money like straight across… I had to fold it so that the money would fit in. Though I saw a bunch of stuff that I liked at Claire’s I think whatever I want to get at Claire’s it will be definately part of their younger line. I really like cute stuff. ^_^ I feel like I really connect to myself now.

When I think about it lately I’ve been really into makeup that I completely forget about the other aspects of being beautiful… accessories, hair and hairstyles, clothes. Well to me I wouldn’t wear those often but if I do find something that I like then I’ll wear it for a while. ^_^ I don’t usually wear accessories anymore because they are such a bother to put on and off. Maybe I should wear necklaces… one with my first name? Well, first I’ll save up money for that. But I’m really thinking about going there and going to get their nail polish remover. They have such pretty colors you get a choice of light pink, baby blue, and lavender. To be honest it looks like a MAC brush cleaner bottle. Want one for sure.

Back onto what I actually got today. I got my sister her earring solution at Ardenes, 2 for $1 pepperoni sticks (yum definately going to buy again), other dollarama purchases were Barbie keychain, a frog key holder head, rainbow looking sour belts, and watermelon slices. Lets see what else… at Southgate I only got a new wallet from Bentley. It’s a pretty purple color and if it was placed anywhere I would be sure to spot it. I kinda wished it came in a brighter color but I like the purple color really nice too. And the last place that I went to is Superstore to go and get some Tylenol as Advil just kills your stomach… yeah, I got the 24 pack kind. Did you know that meds don’t expire? After a while they lose their potency but they still work. Heh, I won’t buy new ones until I’m through with the one that I have. I was debating to get either the strong or extra strong and I ended up with extra strong because I usually take some pretty powerful stuff when I do take stuff that is. The other stuff I got from Superstore was a trial size of St Ives Apricot Scrub, and two candy stocking stuffers which is a Kinder Surprise Tree thingie and a Hubba Bubba bubblegum fun book for Christmas. Best part of all of these things was that they were cheaper than the drugs. Ahah, drugs are expensive.

Anyways, I cleaned up my area and hopefully tomorrow I will get started on studying for the math exam on Mon. If Hue wants me to go and get something she’s going to have to wait until Mon after my exam… yeah, staying home tomorrow…

Relax and then prep time. Today is a no study day… yay!!
