Review: Majolica Majorca Jeweling Eyes in RD784

20 Feb

Hello everyone! A Japanese drugstore eyeshadow quad review today from the ever so popular Majolica Majorca line from Shiseido.

Description: A sparkling eyeshadow set that will make your eyes shine like jewels. The shades are a light yellow based glitter shadow, a pink champagne (satin), a darker pink (satin), and a deep burgandy with pink undertones (satin).

Review: Man, this palette is pretty to look at and I pretty much used it everyday when I got it. The packaging is very sweet and very princess-like if that makes any sense. I love how the pans are the for shadows the mostly used shades are larger than the not so much used shades like the burgandy you don’t use much of it at the time so it’s smaller than the rest. It’s a great idea so that you don’t waste pan space and get more out of the shade you love. As for the shadows all the shades are very buttery smooth, easy to apply and blend. Pigmentation is medium to high pigments (especially on the burgandy shade) it works great as an everyday eye palette but can transform your look at night. I don’t have anything bad to say but the glitter shade just feels awkward but Japanese people love to use those sort of shades in the inner corner of the eyes to make them look brighter and jeweling at the same time. It’s a strange concept but it just wakes up their eyes and makes it all shiny. Those types of shades are found in pretty much a lot of Japanese palettes with different undertones as well to fit with the palette color scheme. Overall, a very nice palette that I will get lots of usage out of.

Cost: $14-20 @ online stores

Would I recommend this product? I would the shadows are really good and I would love to pick up some more!

Review: Maybelline EyeStudio Quad in Spirited Seas

6 Feb

Hello everyone! Since it’s Spring (not official but getting close) I thought I would pull out all the brights that I have. This quad is more of a summer theme but paired with warm and pastel shades it’s great. I love it so much that I’ve practically hit pan on each shade! (Please note that I have had this quad for 1 and a half years now)

Description: A tantalizing quad for spirited seapeople! The shades are a peachy champagne, a frosty light blue, deeper gray-blue, and a shimmering bronze.

Review: First I gotta apologize for putting this off for a really long time… it took me a year and a half to get this review up. Shame on me but hey it’s finally here! Onto the review! This quad is great in a sense that it has very summery shades the blues and the bronze work really well together. Pigmentation is pretty good I found that the texture of the shadows were in general very creamy and easy to blend. But the shade that I had most difficulty with was the third shade the dark gray-blue. It wasn’t as smooth to apply nor as pigmented and I felt that the blue didn’t work well with my skintone. Other than the dud of a blue the rest of the shades were great. Packaging isn’t the most sturdy but it is small and fits well in my drawer of eye makeup. I wouldn’t repurchase due to the fallout with the baby blue and bronze shade (perhaps because it was really creamy). Overall, a very nice quad from Maybelline and standards have gotten kinda high for drugstore eyeshadows.

Cost: $6-9CDN @ various drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I would as it is a very good quad for those who love their summer blues and great for those who love pigmented creamy eyeshadows but would tell others to avoid if you don’t like spending more than 3 minutes on your eye makeup.

Review: Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Bronzer

2 Feb

Hello everyone!

I’ve lately been liking this line from Physician’s Formula lately and I’ll be posting up the blush review later since I got the blush and bronzer in a two-pack.

Description: Infused with Happy Boost blend made with plant extracts to mimic endorphins to make you happier. The scent of violets will uplift your day and keep you in a field of happiness.

Review: I bet the packaging department was having a field day when they got the ideas for this product. It has bright pink exterior with heart designs pressed into the bronzer itself. The bronzer has a great heart design and the scent of violets is a nice touch and not too strong but I don’t think it makes me any happy using it… it’s still a nice bronzer though. I found that some of the shades were very dense but some of the other shades were not as dense. For example the pink heart is not dense and I could see an major indent the more I used the bronzer but the rest of the bronzer I found difficulty getting product out of the pan. I don’t know if the brown shades were packed in more dense but it didn’t blend as smoothly or gather a nice mix of the product. Don’t get me wrong the product is pigmented but just the way to apply this bronzer is very difficult. The shade is very muddy nice as a contour but I don’t think that this bronzer is going to work with all different types of skintones. Overall, I think the shade is a nice bronzing shade but due to the texture and the awkward mix of shades I wouldn’t recommend this.

Cost: $15-20CDN @ local drugstores

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this for those who love nice designs and cute packaging but I won’t repurchase this or recommend it based on the product itself.

Review: Lavshuca Palette in OR-1

1 Feb

Hello everyone! A Japanese drugstore review today. Orange was a popular shade last spring and it’s expected to be a hot trend color once again.

Description: Four tantalizing shades of a modern mandarin. The first shade is orange tone champagne, a bright mandarin, a midtone brown, and a darker brown with orange shimmers. All the shades are shimmery shades with an orange tint.

Review: I find that orange shades are very flattering on practically any skintone the warmth that it provides for the skintone . It’s just a really nice shade to work with and since it is a trend color it just adds a nice pop of color. Pigmentation is good but I find that it is a bit chalky and there is a lot of fall out when I apply it. The powder itself is quite soft and blendable and the packaging is just too adorable.

Cost: $13-18USD @ online stores (ebay.ca)

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this to those looking for an orange shade but of course the downside is that it is only available in Japan so airmail time and shipping could deter you from purchasing.

Review: Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake

21 Dec

Hello everyone! A review again today… it will be a review day… everyday!! Anyways, these lipsticks are pretty well reviewed in the Youtube beauty community so hope you don’t mind me adding in my thoughts on this.

Description: Buttery smooth lipsticks with a perfect amount of pigmentation. Strawberry Shortcake is a light pink shade with tiny sliver shimmers it is not very detectable on the lips.

Review: Could I just say how impressed I am with this formula. It has that perfect texture of a balm smoothing over the lips very nicely but the pigmentation is awesome. They sort of remind me of Clinique Chubby sticks (which I absolutely adore) and Dior Addikt lipsticks. I know what your thinking “Comparable to Dior Addikt lipsticks get out of here”. But they are very same in terms of formula and the pigmentation is absolutely lovely. Revlon lip butters are more pigmented than both Dior and Clinique based on one swipe across the lips. There is no noticeable scent which is great and I try not to eat lipstick so I can’t comment on the taste of this lipstick. Packaging is well done and has a similar quilted design like the Colorburst line. Overall this is a great buy from the drugstore and I will be off to go find some more!

Cost: $6.49 – 11.49CDN @ local drugstore and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I totally would these have an amazing formula and they are very comparable to Dior Addikts lipstick line. I would buy more if they aren’t all out of stock everywhere I go.

Review: Covergirl Lip Perfection in 260 Heavenly

12 Aug

Hello everyone! Oh, pigmented lipstick with other properties?

Product Description: A lipstick that helps heal your lips and make them look perfect in 7 days with pigmented colors. 260 Heavenly is a fresh pink color. This is a cream shade.

Review: I really like this lipstick color and I think it suits my skin tone (yellow) very well. The lipstick was a lot more pigmented then I thought it would be so surprise there. Over the course of 7 days I didn’t notice anything different about my lips if anything they felt even drier than when I started using the lipstick. This lipstick doesn’t have a smooth glide across the lip and I don’t detect any scent from it. Wear time is about 3-4 hours with eating and drinking. Overall, it’s a very nice pigmented lipstick for those on a budget.

Cost: $9-13CDN @ drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this as it is a really good lipstick but would recommend putting balm underneath the lipstick so that your lips don’t feel so dry.

Review: Limited Edition Maybelline Colorsensational Lollipop Lipsticks

11 Aug

Hello everyone! A limited edition review I haven’t done one of these in a long time as I really don’t like the idea of limited edition.

Product Description: An lollipop color and shades perfect for the summer. I picked up 110 Raspberry Ice and 120 Citrus Slice. Both are basic glossy lipstick with a slight hint of color.

Review: Well as you can tell from the swatches they don’t show up on my hand but there is a bit of a tint when applied to the lips. Strange that it doesn’t work for my hand though. Anyways, the lipstick has a balm like feeling when applying and sometimes it tugs on my lips. It doesn’t dry out my lips but doesn’t make them feel moisturized either. I wasn’t expecting much from the product and it turned out there really is nothing really special about this except for the super bright packaging and the see-throughness of the lipstick. Each of the shades had their own scent which was nice touch. Overall, I would say a nice lipstick for those just looking for a tint or for those who just like quirky lipsticks.

Cost: $8-13CDN @ drugstores and supermarkets for a limited time

Would I recommend this product? I would purchase all the shades as they are a really cool concept with the see-through lipstick but you can get better formulation and pigmentation for the amount of money you are paying. So I would say unless you like these sorts of lipsticks it just isn’t worth purchasing.
