Review: EOS Lipbalms

3 Jul

Hello everyone! A lovely lipbalm review today.

IMG_1756 IMG_1757

Description: Cute spherical lipbalms with interesting flavours. Flavours pictured are Blueberry Potion and Sweet Vanilla Nonsense.

Review: These little egg things are really popular and my little cousins absolutely adore them. I have three currently and they are from the limited edition Alice in Wonderland set. They are pretty cute you have to admit but they don’t sit well in my makeup storage bin they are very bulky and hard to store. I have asked my cousin for a bit of a review and she said that when you “round” off the top of the lipbalm it becomes a little hard to use the remaining lipbalm. So something to look forward to the more I use this stuff. I thought the moisturizing factor of these were okay and it’s great that they didn’t taste like plastic or anything synthetic (I am extremely sensitive to that kind of thing). Wear time is typical of a lipbalm which is 1 hour on me (no eating or drinking). Overall, they are pretty good lipbalms just a pain to store.

Cost: $4-6CDN @ drugstores, some Chapters/Indigo stores

Would I recommend this product? For the novelty yes, these make great gifts and they are functional as well it’s just not moisturizing enough for my liking.

Review: Maybelline Color Whispers in 25 Lust for Blush

28 Jun

Hello everyone! I will be reviewing a popular lip shade from Maybelline’s Color Whispers line. I really love this line of lipsticks they are fantastic.

IMG_1720 IMG_1721 IMG_1722 IMG_1725

Description: A light pink “my lips but better” shade cream finish.

Review: This is a pretty basic lipstick shade a creamy “my lips but better” shade that would work well on many skintones. Formulation wise it is a nice lipstick with a smooth glide across the lips and has adds a slight tint to your lips to enhance them. Wear time isn’t great with these lipsticks I get about 1-2 hours if I’m not eating or drinking anything but I think that’s the appeal of the lipstick. That it is easy to reapply and touch up throughout the day without needing a mirror. Overall, a lovely lipstick shade from this line and would love to get more lipsticks from this line.

Cost: $6-8CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? Yes, this is a universal shade that I think a lot of people will like to use on an everyday basis.

Review: Holika Holika Midnight Owl Blush Shade 02

26 Jun

Hello everyone! Another cute blush review today I obviously can’t have enough cute items in my makeup collection.

IMG_1651 IMG_1653 IMG_1654 IMG_1655 IMG_1657 IMG_1665

Description: A light pink highlighting blush.

Review: Don’t you just love the design of this blush? It’s so cute I can’t stop staring at it when I actually work up the courage to use it. This is really really sparkly which has it’s own merit but for those who have large pores this might not be for you. As you can tell in the swatches each one of the shades is really pigmented (except for the green… I think they don’t want you to look like an alien) and the fantastic bit is that all of them are shimmery! This goes on the cheeks really well but it doesn’t stay on your cheek for very long. I find that I can blend this off my face unless I use a really sticky BB cream or foundation without setting with powder then it sticks around. Wear time really is only 4 hours, close to 5 hours if you set with a finishing mist. That is the sad reality of this beautiful blush it isn’t up to par for an everyday look. On the bright side it looks fantastic on the cheeks in both real life and photography. Overall, a cute blush but you shouldn’t run off to get one yourself.

Cost:$18-20CDN @ ebay.ca

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this for those who really love a novelty product

Review: L’Oreal Caresse Lipstick in 175 Violet Chiffon and 178 Cardinal Plume

24 Jun

Hello everyone! A fun lipstick review today and I apologize for not posting anything at all last week (there was no internet in the house).

IMG_1709 IMG_1711 IMG_1714 IMG_1717

Description: Violet Chiffon is a creamy berry purple, Cardinal Plume is a coral orange red with golden shimmers.

Review: Don’t the shades look gorgeous granted Violet Chiffon isn’t really summer-friendly Cardinal Plume is just gorgeous. I love the packaging of this they have the actual shade on the side which makes is easy to see which shade I will be picking up if stored on it’s side. It’s also a fantastic classy shade of gold that is just great and I don’t have any issues with the packaging no matter how many times I’ve dropped it. Onto the formulation of the lipsticks as that is the most important thing. These glide on very smoothly on the lips, do not settle into any liplines and don’t migrate around your face. As you can tell in the swatches they are pigmented and can be swiped across the lips more than once to have even more pigmentation to the shade. Cardinal Plume is a great everyday shade especially in the summer and Violet Chiffon is in a category of it’s own. It’s sort of vampy when swatched more than once on the lips but can look really spring like with just one swipe across the lips. A great all seasons shade just don’t let the purple trick you it looks very berry like on the lips (like you just ate some blueberries). Overall, I love the lipsticks in this range I’m just a little upset that they cost $10CDN each.

Cost: $10-13CDN @ local drugstores and marketplaces

Would I recommend this product? Yes, I am in love with these lipsticks I will definately be picking up more sometime in the near future (if I can’t resist).

Review: Milani Color Statement Lipstick in 14 Rose Hip and 15 Hot Pink Rage

13 Jun

Hello everyone! These lipsticks have finally popped up in Canada which is extremely exciting. I didn’t need anymore lipsticks but I had to pick some up from this line after all it smells like watermelon!

IMG_1727 IMG_1729 IMG_1732 IMG_1735 Top: Rose Hip, Bottom: Hot Pink Rage

Description: Rose Hip is a bright bubblegum midtone pink cream, Hot Pink Rage a midtone watermelon red-pink cream.

Review: Both of these shades are cream finishes which is my preferred finish in lipsticks. The both glide on very smoothly and stay on for 3-4 hours without touching up; 2-3 hours with eating and drinking. These leave a stain behind once the lipstick fades and the stain did last for a full 8 hours. For those who are sensitive to scents these are watermelon scented and it can sometimes be overpowering. As you can tell from the swatches they are extremely pigmented crazy pigmented. These glide on smoothly over the lips (if you have lipbalm over them) and doesn’t look patchy at all. Overall, great lipsticks for the price and the pigmentation and shades are to die for!

Cost: $5-8 CDN @ Superstore, Target

Would I recommend this product? Yes, these are great lipsticks it’s just sad that they aren’t readily available.

Review: Holika Holika Hello Holika Chic Blush #1

11 Jun

Hello everyone! A super fun post today showing an amazing looking product. ^_^

IMG_1645 IMG_1646 IMG_1648 IMG_1660

Description: A cute cat-themed corally blush.

Review: OMG, can’t you see how cute this is? I had to have it of course it’s so gorgeous that I really didn’t want to use it but what’s with not using pretty makeup? This product actually has a glitter overspray that goes away after about 2-3 uses. The shade is a natural coral shade on the cheeks and the texture is very smooth on the cheeks. As you can tell in the swatch it actually isn’t very pigmented but you can build up the blush color. This stayed on my skin for 6-8 hours which is fantastic for a Korean drugstore product. Overall, a VERY cute blush that I have issues of not using enough because of how it looks.

Cost: $18-23CDN @ ebay.ca

Would I recommend this product? For the makeup collector this would be a great and fun addition to your collection but for people who plan on using this everyday you may be sad when the design is all rubbed away (like I will be in the future).

Review: Wet ‘n Wild Trio in I’m Feeling Retro

7 Jun

Hello everyone! I saved my favourite trio for last so are you glad that I am done reviewing all of my Wet ‘n Wild trios?

IMG_1630 IMG_1633 IMG_1672

Description: A fun trio featuring a Browbone of shimmering and glittering white, Crease a light shimmering navy blue, and Eyelid of a bright shimmering pink-purple.

Review: There is one standout shade in this palette and it is the pink-purple shade it is just a stunner and works beautifully on the eyes. The other two shades are a little hard to work with the Browbone sometimes hardly shows up on skin and the Crease has a pigmentation issue that can be worked out by packing on the eyeshadow. But for the stunning pink-purple shade I think that this eyeshadow palette is worth the purchase. Texture on the Eyelid shade is very smooth and pigmented while the Crease and Browbone shades were a little denser but still easy to blend with and apply. Lasting power is that same as all the others a full 8 with primer and 4 hours without. Overall, a nice eyeshadow palette for those willing to work with the eyeshadows a little more.

Cost: $3.99CDN @ Superstore and Walmart

Would I recommend this product? Yes for those who are a lover of bright pink-purple shades!
