Review: Too Faced Natural Face palette

13 Feb

Hello everyone! A fun review today on Too Faced’s Natural Face palette and to clarify this is the first on that they came out with and not the new one that was released with nice packaging (that palette is a little darker than this palette).

Description: An all-in-one face palette to complete the natural look on your face. The palette contains a light bronzer, rose cream blush, light peachy pink blush, a concealer, pinky cream luminizer and a light cream brightener.

Review: I have been eyeing this palette since it came out in I believe Spring 2011 and was very excited to try it out. Unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations. First off the color selection is very limited only those with a light to medium skintone can actually use the palette. Women of Color would have difficulty getting the actual products to work for them especially the concealer and brightener shade. Second the pigmentation was… very poor. I thought that Too Faced’s face products would be good because their eyeshadows are well-pigmented and is silky smooth and easy to blend. Not so with this face palette while doing a finger swatch everything looked very vibrant and pigmented but when applied with a brush it was barely seen on my skin. The only product in this that worked as it was intended was the cream blush and the luminizer. The blush barely showed up on my skin and when I did pile it on all that appeared was the shimmers in the blush though it was extremely smooth. The concealer and brightener did little to my skin when blended out it was as if it was never there and did not cover anything at all. A pet peeve of mine is actually having cream and powder products together as the cream products tend to “collect” powder dust. Overall, this is not a product that worked well for me and to pay $48CDN for only two products that work is just too much.

Cost: $39USD/$48CDN

Where to buy: Sephora.com, TooFacedCosmetics.com

Would I recommend this product? Not unless you are super pale and enjoy using barely there products.

Review: Limited Edition Maybelline Colorsensational Lollipop Lipsticks

11 Aug

Hello everyone! A limited edition review I haven’t done one of these in a long time as I really don’t like the idea of limited edition.

Product Description: An lollipop color and shades perfect for the summer. I picked up 110 Raspberry Ice and 120 Citrus Slice. Both are basic glossy lipstick with a slight hint of color.

Review: Well as you can tell from the swatches they don’t show up on my hand but there is a bit of a tint when applied to the lips. Strange that it doesn’t work for my hand though. Anyways, the lipstick has a balm like feeling when applying and sometimes it tugs on my lips. It doesn’t dry out my lips but doesn’t make them feel moisturized either. I wasn’t expecting much from the product and it turned out there really is nothing really special about this except for the super bright packaging and the see-throughness of the lipstick. Each of the shades had their own scent which was nice touch. Overall, I would say a nice lipstick for those just looking for a tint or for those who just like quirky lipsticks.

Cost: $8-13CDN @ drugstores and supermarkets for a limited time

Would I recommend this product? I would purchase all the shades as they are a really cool concept with the see-through lipstick but you can get better formulation and pigmentation for the amount of money you are paying. So I would say unless you like these sorts of lipsticks it just isn’t worth purchasing.

Review: Bonnebell Gel Bronzer in Luminizer

5 Jul

Hello everyone! Summer bronzer time though today’s review is just a highlight but it’s still a bronzy shade.

Review: A gel luminizer adding a golden glow to the skin. This is one of my favourite products to use during the summer as it adds a subtle but tannish sheen to the skin. There are no glitter chunks just fine shimmer to the product. The consistency is really nice it’s not too thick or too watery just a nice cream product which makes blending very easy.  Only a smidgen is needed for this (in the picture I put too much on my hand) and it lasts all day. No scent to report nor any change in texture as I’ve had this for over a year now. Overall, a really nice summer addition to your makeup collection and it just addeds a nice sunny glow to your skin.

Cost: $2-6CDN @ drugstores and Supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I would it adds a nice subtle glow to the skin with a hint of bronzey glow perfect for the summer!

Skincare Overload?!

12 Aug

How many skincare products do I have to try before I am happy? The answer is A LOT… this is what I have picked up skincare wise in the past month alone.

So I am in the process of testing them all out one at a time… how I test is that I finish all the products that I buy myself even if it breaks out my skin or if it makes me skin drying or whatever I will use that thing until it is done. All this testing is going to take a really really long time… I don’t know if I should even do reviews on them… but yeah, just wanted to share how obsessed I am with skincare products.
