Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

7 Jul

Hello everyone! A powder review today… it’s pretty good.

Review: I picked this up because I ran out of powders (again and now I have a bunch of them… I just don’t know when to stop). The shade is 001 translucent so it’s pretty translucent on my face. There is no scent and the powder works great at controlling oils and whatnot on my face I still have to blot unfortunately but not as often anymore (great!) The powder is pretty silky now since it’s pretty silky and just glides over the face nicely it’s hard to tell when to stop as is with all powders so sometimes I end up with an over powdered face (gotta learn some self controll). This also appears to cover some pores and leaves skin with a nice fresh look when used alone (not as a setting powder). What I also dislike is the packaging if I take this on a trip I’m pretty sure it’s going to be broken real quick. The trouble is the lid it has a habit of just sliding off and just freaks me out everytime I put it back in my drawer. Despite me being scared of breaking the powder because of packaging it’s a really good mattifying powder.

Cost: $4-8CDN @ drugstore and Supermarket

Would I recommend this product? I would highly recommend this for people with combination to oily skin (though if you’re really oily you’ll have to reblot but not as often as usual) and there are different shades available as well.

Vaseline for your face?

20 Jan

Hello everyone! I have asked a lot of people this question to see if it was safe to put vaseline/petrolum jelly on your face.

The common misconception is that it can clog pores and will result in acne.  Well I’m going to have to say “no” vaseline/petrolum jelly is classified as noncosmodegenic therefore cannot clog pores but since it is thick in density it can BLOCK pores that could result in new acne. So just feel free to use it on your face but be sure to rinse it off after some time.

Other makeup uses of vaseline is a lash conditioner (just put some on your eyelashes at night), eye makeup remover (one of the best there is), and of course as lip gloss.

Review: Maybelline Pure Makeup Foundation

This product title sure wasn’t long… anyways photo:

Review: I find that it is always a hit and miss for drugstore foundations. This one is a miss for me. I am in Light 2 which is a pretty good match and it is a cream foundation. As stated on the website:

” This shine-free foundation with H2O is formulated with 50% water instead of pore-clogging oils that can cause breakouts. ”

This clogged my pores and did give me more acne…. so I don’t think it really did help but for those days where my skin was behaving this was the foundation that I really reached for. Designed more for oily skin that isn’t sensitive I’d give this one a pass but if you have dry skin this formula would help hydrate your skin.

Cost: $8.99CDN

Would I recommend this foundation? I would recommend this foundation for those people who have dry skin but other than that stay away from this foundation
