Review: MAC Naturally

16 Jan

Hello everyone! So this is the first time that I have reviewed a MAC limited edition collection (and it is also the first time that I really splurged on a makeup collection). Items reviewed will be 2 Mineralized Eyeshadows, a Mineralized Skin Finish, and a Mineralized Blush. So since there are a few different items this review will be set up differently.

First off the Mineralized Eyeshadows. There is a total of five shades but I picked out just two shades (poor student here) they are $24CDN each.
Daylight is described as a cool-toned lavender shade and In the Sun is a glittery light brown-burgandy shade. Both shades wear for around 6 hours without fading and begins to fade (this is testing with a primer underneath). I found that In the Sun was a little harder to work with and not as smooth as Daylight (perhaps it was the glitter). Both are smooth pigmented and they are in general great shades to play with for a natural look. I haven’t tried using the shadows with water but will definately try in the future.

Next is the Mineralized Blush I have a lot of blushes so I picked out a standout color in this collection. There are three blushes in total but the one I picked up is Fresh Honey the blushes are $27.50CDN.
Fresh Honey is an apricot very orange shade. It is pigmented but can be a bit chalky the wear time is 8 hours and even though it looks scary it is quity wearable.

I saved the best for last the ever coverted Redhead Mineralized Skin Finish. I didn’t pick up Blonde due to the pink undertones so Redhead it was. The cost of these are pretty high $33.50CDN for one I seriously winced when I found out it now takes the place of the most expensive highlighter that I own.
Redhead is described as a warm champagne transitioning into dark pink. The wear time is great around 8 hours, the highlighting effects that it gives is a warm sheen to the skin and looks very natural. The powder is smooth, creamy and very blendable.

Review: ELF Natural Radiance Blushers

18 Jun

Hello everyone! The last ELF review for this time around (I will be repurchasing more ELF products and hopefully also order some products from the Studio line next time).

(Glow, Flushed)

Review: As you can tell the blushes are pretty pigmented except Glow which sometimes shows up or sometimes doesn’t show up on my skintone. These blushes are silky smooth as well and they are great blushes with no scent. Glow is a coral color with golden glitters in it (not huge glitter but there is some) and Flushed is a nice raspberry shade with slight glow (silver shimmer is what it looks like) and both shades work great for lighter to darker skintones. It lasts for quite some time I can get about 8 hours if I’m not moving much (office day) and about 5-6 hours if I’m moving about more (exercising). Again packaging is pretty bad it’s a slide out packaging and Glow got stuck on mine which is why it’s all powdery and broken.

Cost: $1.00USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? Yes very definately despite the packaging it’s a great product for little cost!

Review: ELF Luscious Liquid Lipstick

13 Jun

Hello everyone! A review from ELF (eyelipsface.com) and yeah… it was different than what I was expecting.

(L-R: Raspberry, Strawberry, Perfect Pink)

Review: The shades I got are Raspberry (darker mauvy purple based pink), Strawberry (a bright red shade), and Perfect Pink (a bright blue-based pink). This is very similar to a pigmented lipgloss which is alright but from the product title I would have expected it to be a lipstick. It works great as a gloss and is quite pigmented and the color is quite buildable. There is a slight mint scent to this but no plumping sort of feeling is felt on the lips. The color lasts for about 2-3 hours and the color can also work as a stain once the gloss has worn away. The packaging isn’t that great but still works you just have to twist it more than 10 times to get product out at the beginning. A con is the applicator I feel that the sponge actually absorbs the product than places it on your lips and well it’s only available online for Canadians. For Americans you can easily purchase it at a Target store… Canadians = online and online buying can be a hassle especially the wait times. I had to wait about 2 weeks before my package came in and that’s about avergae for any Canadian post parcel mail.

Cost: $1.00USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product for those interested in trying a product at an extremely low price point.

Review: theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer

8 Mar

Hello everyone! I have picked up this bronzer lately and since I’m not really a bronzer person I mainly use this as a contour or sometimes a blush.

Review: I’m not a cheek product type of girl and probably won’t get into it any time soon but I got this as a gift with purchase. This is actually a really nice natural looking bronzer and it gives a nice sun-kissed look to my skin. The color is matte, no shimmer and isn’t orange like some other bronzers on the market. It is very pigmented, smooth powder with a soft brown undertone and is also great for contouring (especially in the winter months where I’m paler than my usual skintone) but put on too much it can look a little muddy on the skin. Packaging is flimsy cardboard and it makes it easy to dirty the packaging with the bronzer and it isn’t travel friendly I feel as if the powder will break if I take it travelling.

Cost: $26CDN @ Rexall pharmacies or $19USD

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product for those looking for a natural looking bronzer but this will not work for those with darker skin tones (might not show up).
