MUL: Baby Pinks

25 Jul

Hello everyone! Today’s makeup look was a fun one as I worked with pigments. I usually avoid pigments on a daily usage because they are really messy to use and require more time but I have a lot of pigments so I should really use them.

It was really subtle but I really like the look I should really use pigments more often.

Review: Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in Copper Chic

27 Mar

Hello everyone! One of the new quads that I purchased from Maybelline this is becoming a regular pick up item.

Description: Four lovely renditions of copper with a buttery smooth texture. The first shade is a champagne/light beige shade, a frost red-tone pink, a bright copper, and a copper toned brown. All swatches were done with one swipe across the hand.

Review: I have reviewed a previous Eyestudio quad in Spirited Seas here and essentially it’s the same type of review but with a different shade. The shadows are extremely pigmented and smooth making them easy to blend on the eye. Sometime it’s a little too easy to blend on the eye and it all blends together to make one ruddy mess but nothing a little eye makeup remover can’t fix. Staying power was alright by themselves it lasted for 3-4 hours while with a primer the full 8 hours and more with a little bit of fading around the 7th hour. Since the shades are very shimmery there is some fall out as well but luckily it doesn’t stick to the face when it falls.  Overall, this selection of shades are great for warmer skintones and I think it’s a great palette that will work in both the warmer and cooler months.

Cost: $8-10CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I would these are great quads for those who seriously love their shimmer.

Review: ELF Matte Lip Color

22 Dec

Hello everyone! This is the last of the ELF review marathon. Whew I apologize for the sheer amount of posts today but hey I’d rather be blogging than working or helping my mom bake.

Description: A lip crayon with a matte finish. Shades are Tea Rose (mauvey pink) and Praline (dark brown based pink).

Review: I didn’t get to take a picture but there is quite a bit of product in the tubes itself. The shades are based on the opposite spectrum. Tea Rose is a cool tone lipstick (which is why it looks awkward on me) and Praline is a warm brown based lip color (those work best with me). The texture is not smooth as expected with matte lipsticks they tend not to be smooth while applied to the lips. With a matte finish it does have a tendency to emphasize dry lips or flaky lips so I recommend you exfoliate and moisturize before putting on this lipstick. The lipstick is very pigmented and packaging is a nice crayon format which makes it easy to apply to the lips and you can line your lips at the same time. It has a twist up design which stores a lot of product. Overall, it is a matte lipstick which acts like a matte lipstick but does have pretty good pigmentation.

Cost: $3USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I find that the shades themselves are not really flattering and matte shades are very hard to pull off due to the texture and finish but I do like the product itself. I don’t know if I would recommend these to others or not so I’ll just leave this section as an ‘buy if you are curious’ or buy if you love matte lipsticks.

Review: ELF Beauty Eye Manual – Brights Edition

22 Dec

Hello everyone! I saved the best for last the bright colors!!!

Description: A 12 color palette with bright, fun colorful eyeshadows! Shade descriptions are from left to right (top to bottom) Row 1 has a glittery silver white, shimmery golden champagne, glittery, gold pink, shimmery tan; Row 2 has a silver tone gold, a shimmery mid-tone green, a shimmery turquoise blue, a matte red based brown; Row 3 has a glittery blue based white, a shimmery bright purple, a shimmery dark rust/burgandy, and a shimmery silver speckled black. All shades were swatched with one swipe.

Review: Can I just say that I love bright colors but don’t dare to wear them? Well I can just can’t say no to bright colors so this palette has found a home for me (I foresee myself using this palette a lot during the summer months). The packaging is well meh as per usual for the other palettes as well. As for the eyeshadows I found the pink shade to be really crumbly so it’s super soft and that just makes it really hard to work with. But other than the pink shade all the other shadows were smooth, pigmented and very blendable. Wear time without primer is about 4 hours but with primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion) it lasted for 8-9 hours. Overall, a great colorful palette to play and have fun with.

Cost: $5USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I totally would based on the colors and who doesn’t need bright eyeshadows in their life? The pink shade is a shade that I can forgive for being difficult to work with as the other eyeshadows are of excellent quality. Two thumbs up for this palette.

Review: ELF Studio Blush

22 Dec

Hello everyone! Continuing on with the ELF reviewing marathon.

Description: A pigmented blendable blush with an ease of usage. Shades from left to right (top down) is Berry Merry and Blushing Rose. Berry Merry is a dark berry with brown undertones and golden shimmers, and Blushing Rose is a dark rose withorange undertones and golden shimmers.

Review: Both shades are pigmented as you can tell from the swatches and work very well on my skintone. Texture of the blush is really nice it is smooth and glides onto the skin very easily. The packaging is well done with a mirror (a nice touch but not ideal) and a window so that you can see the shade. I really like how big the pan is it just shows how much more product there is compared to packaging. Overall, these shades work really well I haven’t tried them on other skintones so I don’t know how they will look. But I really like these blushes and would recommend everyone to try them for the price point.

Cost: $3USD from eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I would! It’s a pretty good product that is pigmented and the packaging makes it look classy and not something for the price point.

MAC + Disney Collab

23 Jun

It’s official MAC Cosmetics is collabing with Disney for the Venomous Villains.

I don’t know if I should save up for this collection or not… as much as I like Disney I’m not a huge fan of the villains. If I were to pick up some items from this collection it would probably be Innocence, Beware! Lipstick from Cruella De Vil and Strange Potion Lipglass from the Evil Queen.
I’m going to think about this collection a little more… someone wanna pick these items up for me for my birthday (which coincidently is in Sept)? ^_^
