Review: Physician’s Formula Season-to-Season Bronzer

28 Mar

Hello everyone! Hooray Spring is coming soon and now I can seriously layer on bronzer for the sought after sun-kissed glow without worrying about skin cancer.

(Top = whole bronzer, L-R: Winter, Spring, Fall, Summer and Middle ball of sparkly stuff)

Description: Wanna look like you have a faux tan everyday of the year? Well this is for you! Four customizable shades for the perfect bronzer look. Swatches were done with one swipe.

Review: Man, this was a pretty pricey bronzer I have to say especially for drugstore. I’ve never actually seen this on sale so those who really want to pick it up just be prepared to pay a bit for it. I personally do enjoy how this bronzer was promoting four different shades for all seasons. It’s a great concept and is sure to be  a hit all year round. Unfortunately there are somethings that are not so good about it. The colors are great they aren’t an Oompa-loompa orange so that’s always nice. All the colors are very pigmented but there is glitter throughout the entire product especially in the center with a little anchor like thing it is just shimmer to add to your face. It blends out easily though and the packaging is quite sturdy even though it’s a little too big for my liking it still works. Staying power was around 5-6 hours without any touch ups which is nice. Now for the unfortunate part of this bronzer, the scent. I smells very intensely of fake flowers and it’s not a pleasant scent I could even smell it after I put it on my face. So for those who have sensitive skin the scent can be a bit irritating on the skin. Also the amount of glitter/shimmers put into the product is a bit off putting I love my shimmer but not when it’ll make me look like a glitter bomb. Overall, I think it’s a nice bronzer with a great concept but the scent and shimmer is very off-putting for me. I won’t repurchase but it’s not a bad product per say.

Cost: $21.99CDN @ Shoppers Drug Mart

Would I recommend this product? I would for those who love shimmery bronzers, enjoy floral scents or do not mind scents in their cosmetics. Everyone else who hates shimmer and intense scents I would recommend to stay far far away from this product.

Review: Physician’s Formula Mineral Airbrushing Pressed Powder in Translucent

26 Mar

Hello everyone! Extremely long title but hey it’s a pretty descriptive name for it. Onto the review to see if it lives up to the claims of airbrushing.

Description: A light powder for the sought after air brushed finish. Swatch was done with one swipe.

Review: Physician’s Formula is a bit more expensive than most drugstore products but they have lately been stepping up their game with some pretty good releases. Though if the product isn’t good I wouldn’t be able to justify it luckily most of the line goes on sale about every 2-3 weeks at Shoppers which makes my wallet a little happy. I really like the color of the packaging it just seems very spring/summer-like with the bright pooliside blue. And the design on the powder itself is a very nice touch. The powder itself is finely milled and does have some tint to it (even though it’s translucent) luckily the tint doesn’t show up on the skin so it’s just translucent. Staying power was around 4-5 hours then I had to touch up it didn’t really control the oil very well. It blended nicely on the skin though. Overall, I think it does give your skin a flawless look but if it doesn’t control the oil very well it’s not working well for me.

Cost: $18-20 @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I think this would work best for those who have dry skin or those who prep their skin with an oil mattifying base. Personally I think it’s too many steps so I won’t be repurchasing unless the packaging lures me to buy it.

Review: Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Bronzed Brown Eyes

29 Feb

Hello everyone! A Physician’s Formala review today.

Description: 9 shades of bronze for brown eyes. Top three shades (light lavendar, cool-tone gold, milk chocolate bronze) are daytime look, middle three (light gold, mid-tone gold, brown bronze) are daytime smokey, and the last three (dark gold, burgandy, dark chocolate) are nighttime look.

Review: Man are there so many colors to pick and choose from I really dislike the amount of choice that I get with this and it goes the same for any other palette that I purchase but I still keep buying palettes (must be something about getting a deal for amount of eyeshadows I ge lol). Anyways, the shades in this palette is very goldy bronze based and work great as an everyday eyeshadow palette the shades are very warm-toned so cool-toned beauties if you pick up this palette be prepared to spend a little bit more time on your eye makeup. I personally really love this palette and is one of my go-tos in the summer months. The shades are pigmented with a nice sheen there is no glitter shades just shimmer which gives a nice glowy touch to the eyes. Texture is very smooth and blends very well on the lids I did have some fallout when I picked up too much product but that can be easily fixed with a quick tap-off. Packaging is a very sturdy plastic and a flip-top design never had one like this so it takes up some space while waiting to be used on my desk. Overall, I think this is a great palette and though the price is a little steep for drugstore I definately recommend picking this up!

Cost: $12-17CDN @ drugstore and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? If you love your golds and bronze like I do this is the perfect palette to pick up.

Project 10 Pan 2012

22 Feb

Hello everyone! This is the first project 10 pan post for this year my gosh I’ve been on and off this more times than a bear attempting to get honey. But I will hopefully stick to it I now know much of my beauty habits (good or bad you decide that).

So I got two versions of it this year: makeup and skincare. Yes surprisingly I am stocked up on skincare products but onto the items themselves.

Items: Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Blush in Rose, Skinfood Buckwheat Loose Powder, Maybelline Popsensational Lipsticks in Citrus Slice and Raspberry Ice, NYC Blushable Creme Stick in South St. Seashell, Maybelline Eyestudio Quad in Spirited Seas, ELF Hypershine Gloss in Bare, MAC Dazzleglass Cream in Perfectly Unordinary, NYC Black eyeliner, Wet ‘n Wild White eyeliner.

Items: LUSH Tea Tree Toner, The Body Shop Camomille Eye makeup remover, Nivea AquaSensation Eye cream, Laneige Water Sleeping Pack_EX, Naruko Job’s Tears Night Jelly, True Blue Spa Apricot & White tea scrub, True Blue Spa Peppermint Face scrub, and Freeman Face mask in Avocado & Clay, Strawberry and Chocolate detox, and Cucumber Peel-off.

My rules are pretty simple I just need to finish up the product and keep the case to show you guys. Every two months I usually do Empties but this time I’ll just seperate out the regular empties with 10 pan items.

If you guys have gone through this let me know in the comments below and for those doing this project let’s motivate each other!

Review: Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Blush

2 Feb

Hello everyone! Here is the other portion of the review: the blush!

Description: A endorphin releasing scent of violets to calm you for a day’s work. The shade is rose a bright pink when swatched.

Review: The have to say that Physician’s Formula have really stepped up their game but the step up in prices just makes my wallet cry (luckily there are sales). I got the shade Rose in the two pack that I bought. It is extremely pigmented thus a lighter hand is needed when applying this blush to the cheeks. Texture is very smooth but as with the bronzer it feels a little bit tightly pressed into the pan making it hard to pick up some product and when you do pick up it’s a little too much. I think the shade is very universally flattering it suits those with yellow, neutral and pink undertones so anyone of any shade can enjoy this blush. Overall, I think that this blush is definately way better than the bronzer and would recommend you pick this up on sale it’s not worth the high price tag especially here in Canada.

Cost: $13-17CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? Since the blush is better in pigmentation and wear time then the bronzer I say that this is a definite must for those who love cute makeup.

Review: Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Bronzer

2 Feb

Hello everyone!

I’ve lately been liking this line from Physician’s Formula lately and I’ll be posting up the blush review later since I got the blush and bronzer in a two-pack.

Description: Infused with Happy Boost blend made with plant extracts to mimic endorphins to make you happier. The scent of violets will uplift your day and keep you in a field of happiness.

Review: I bet the packaging department was having a field day when they got the ideas for this product. It has bright pink exterior with heart designs pressed into the bronzer itself. The bronzer has a great heart design and the scent of violets is a nice touch and not too strong but I don’t think it makes me any happy using it… it’s still a nice bronzer though. I found that some of the shades were very dense but some of the other shades were not as dense. For example the pink heart is not dense and I could see an major indent the more I used the bronzer but the rest of the bronzer I found difficulty getting product out of the pan. I don’t know if the brown shades were packed in more dense but it didn’t blend as smoothly or gather a nice mix of the product. Don’t get me wrong the product is pigmented but just the way to apply this bronzer is very difficult. The shade is very muddy nice as a contour but I don’t think that this bronzer is going to work with all different types of skintones. Overall, I think the shade is a nice bronzing shade but due to the texture and the awkward mix of shades I wouldn’t recommend this.

Cost: $15-20CDN @ local drugstores

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this for those who love nice designs and cute packaging but I won’t repurchase this or recommend it based on the product itself.
