Review: GOSH Cover Me Up Makeup Mousse

26 Mar

Hello everyone! I think this is the first UK based cosmetics companies that I have tried. Exciting stuff!

à

Description: A moisturizing foundation with Jojoba and Vitamin E for a silky soft, light and long-lasting look. 04 Champagne was purchased and is discontinued in Canada.

Review: Now before you mention anything I know that the shade is currently too dark for my skintone and that is very true. I purchased this only because it was on sale and I wanted to find out what the texture was like. Since it currently is too dark I use it as a bronzer since it would be wasteful of my money to just toss the product just to see what sort of texture it has. Now despite how orange it looks it looks quite natural on the skin as long as I use a translucent powder (the powder seems to lighten up the shade a bit). Unfortunately it oxidizes around the 3 hour mark and leaves your face looking very orange. That is not attractive at all and considering how little I use it will last me eons to use. Perhaps in the summer when I am tanner and put on a really good mattifying primer will the foundation stay on and not oxidize. But until then this is just being used as a bronzer. Putting a few of the negatives aside I really like the consistency of this product it kind of reminds me of a mousse dessert that you would get at high end restaurants. You know the ones where it looks really light and fluffy but is super dense and filled with extreme flavoury goodness. Pigmentation is quite good it gets a bit of color on the skin but smooths out very well over the skin. The packaging is a simple screw on lid with actually a cover but I took that out because it started to annoy me after a while. Overall, I think it’s a good product concept just not what I need for my skin.

Cost: $5.99CDN @ Shopper Drug Mart

Would I recommend this product? Unfortunately since this is discontinued in Canada there is no place for me to recommend you to try for Canadians but it is still available overseas. This is a nice product just make sure to pick up your perfect shade.

Review: Innisfree Eco Safety Daily Sunblock SPF 35

21 Dec

Hello everyone! I have a sunscreen review today and even though it’s winter you shouldn’t neglict sunscreen. The suns ray’s still get to you skin.

Description: An everyday sunscreen made with natural ingredients to help protect your skin from the sun.

Review: I really like this sunscreen as it works pretty good and the scent is great. It doesn’t have the usual sunscreen type of scent but smells like Coca Cola. Interesting right? If you were to get a sunscreen I would recommend this one mainly due to the scent. Works perfectly under makeup and does not make me look greasy during the day. The texture is a cream of course but smooths over the skin very gently. Overall a pretty standard sunscreen without the oily residue.

Cost: $20 approximately @ ebay.ca

Would I recommend this product? I totally would it’s a great everyday sunscreen in the winter months and the scent is great!

Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

7 Jul

Hello everyone! A powder review today… it’s pretty good.

Review: I picked this up because I ran out of powders (again and now I have a bunch of them… I just don’t know when to stop). The shade is 001 translucent so it’s pretty translucent on my face. There is no scent and the powder works great at controlling oils and whatnot on my face I still have to blot unfortunately but not as often anymore (great!) The powder is pretty silky now since it’s pretty silky and just glides over the face nicely it’s hard to tell when to stop as is with all powders so sometimes I end up with an over powdered face (gotta learn some self controll). This also appears to cover some pores and leaves skin with a nice fresh look when used alone (not as a setting powder). What I also dislike is the packaging if I take this on a trip I’m pretty sure it’s going to be broken real quick. The trouble is the lid it has a habit of just sliding off and just freaks me out everytime I put it back in my drawer. Despite me being scared of breaking the powder because of packaging it’s a really good mattifying powder.

Cost: $4-8CDN @ drugstore and Supermarket

Would I recommend this product? I would highly recommend this for people with combination to oily skin (though if you’re really oily you’ll have to reblot but not as often as usual) and there are different shades available as well.

Review: Neutrogena Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 45

11 May

Hello everyone! A review on sunscreen as summer is quickly approaching with a lot of sunshine coming through.

Review: I purchased this sunscreen due to recommendation from one of my cousins and she absolutely adored this sunscreen. For me, not so much love. Even though the product stated that it has an ultra-light, non-shiny finish, is fast-absorbing, and has a clean feel I don’t think it is. I felt that it just sat on my skin and the oils in the sunscreen gave my skin a oil spill and it just in general felt really icky like what all sunscreens feel like. The texture was thick and goopy sometimes and there was that strong sunscreen scent (which I dislike). I had to blot my skin after I applied the sunscreen to make sure that I didn’t look like an oil spill. It also felt really hard to blend over the skin and just felt like a second skin.  Not really comfortable to wear. Overall this was a miss for me as it just wasn’t up to my calling. I would however like to try other sunscreens from Neutrogena though.

Cost: $12-18 CDN @ local drugstores or Super market chain

Would I recommend this product? For those who have dry skin this will be great as it can provide a layer of extra moisture. Oily skin people beware it will make you look more greasy!

Review: Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisterizer with SPF 15

6 Apr

Hello everyone! A skincare review for you today, I just finished this product today and well here are my thoughts on it.

Review: I’m going to be honest and say that I absolutely hated hated this moisterizer. It didn’t feel like a moisterizer and it had weird sparkly bits in it. What I guess is good about it is that it does have SPF 15 (a bit low but perfect for winter time) it does sink in easily into the skin and there is no residue leftover. The pump mechanism on the bottle is really nice as it has a locking mechanism (perfect for travel). As stated before I really didn’t like this moisterizer even though I have oily skin I didn’t feel that it was moisterizing enough. And for the weird glittery bits in this well it’s small but still visible so when I catch my skin in the light sometimes I see glitter on my face. The glittery bits didn’t help with my oily skin as it made it look even more oily.

Cost: $19.99CDN @ any drugstore

Would I recommend this product? I would for those who have great normal skin who wants to give it a boost but for those with combination/oily skin stay away from this moisterizer.
