Review: ELF Beauty Eye Manual – Natural Edition

22 Dec

Hello everyone! Part 2 = Natural

Description: An eye palette containing 12 shades for a natural nude look. Shade descriptions from left to right (top to bottom) Row 1 has a matte cream, glittery light brown, matte tan, and a shimmery mid tone brown; Row 2 has a shimmery dark champagne, shimmery golden brown, shimmery bronze and a glittery gold brown; Row 3 matte gray-tone brown, shimmery silver tone light brown, glittery gold gray tone brown, and a shimmery dark brown. Swatches were done with one swipe.

Review: Whew, an everyday palette from ELF then again who isn’t making neutral everyday palettes? I found all the shades to be soft, blendable and pigmented which is good considering that all 12 shades were done really really well. Packaging nothing to speak home about but it works. Just once I would love to just try and travel with it to see how friendly it is for travelling. Wear time is about 4 hours and with primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion) about 8 hours give or take a few hours. Overall, I have to say that I am impressed by the shadows and formulation of this palette. It’s an A+ in my book despite the packaging.

Cost: $5USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I would this is a great palette for those beginning with makeup and those who use neutral shades everyday. Highly recommend!

Review: Urban Decay Naked Palette

21 Dec

Hello everyone! So as you all know Urban Decay has released out a new Naked 2 palette but me being slow I just got the first one… but here’s the review.

Description: A cult item which houses 12 shades of warm toned eyeshadows with a variety in textures. Shades include Virgin (light pink with microshimmer similar to Joe Fresh eyeshadow in Pale Pink, a satin finish), Sin (shimmering pink, shimmer finish), Naked (buck wheat shade, matte finish), Sidecar (golden taupe shade, glitter finish), Buck (medium brown, matte finish), Half Baked (gold, shimmer finish), Smog (medium brown with light brown shimmers, shimmer shade), Darkhorse (dark brown, satin finish), Toasted (dark brown with pink based undertones, satin finish), Hustle (dark brown, satin finish), Creep (black with silver and gold microglitter, satin finish) and Gunmetal (dark gray with silver microglitter, satin finish).

Review: I didn’t know what I was missing out on. This is a great everyday palette with wearable everyday shades. Pigmentation is amazing for each of the shades there are no duds in this palette. The textures for each is just amazing, packaging is classy, and the blending of the shades is just great. A con I would say would be the velvet feel of the packaging I feel as though it can get a bit messy with eyeshadow fall out and whatnot but it’s still a nice texture to feel in the morning. I really really like this palette and everything about it is great! So now I’m another person who absolutely enjoys this palette.

Cost: $52 CDN @ Sephora

Would I recommend this product? I totally would the shades are gorgeous and they are all everyday wearable shades. It’s just a great palette I can’t gush about how great it is.

Review: E.L.F. 32 Eyeshadow Palette – Warm

20 Dec

Hello everyone! Just got this palette from Winners and since I finished practicing some accounting I thought I ought to swatch and review for you guys.

Description: A 32 color palette with tantilizing warm shades. It also comes in a cool tone palette with brighter and cooler shades.

Review: First off I just want to say that I’ve been lately getting into palettes due to the fact that it’s a little easier to fiddle with one big thing rather than 10 smaller items.
This palette is a great everyday shade palette as you can tell from the swatches and palette photos there is a mixture of mattes, shimmers, and only 2 glitters in this palette. I really like the shades as they are warm but the colors are very wearable. The colors in general glide on smoothly and blend easily.
Pigmentation for the lighter shades is not as strong as the darker shades but the darker shades in the bottom right corner do not have good color payoff. I don’t know if it’s because of the formula but it’s not the most pigmented colors. The darkers shades were a bit harder than the lighter shades which was easier to dip a brush in and pick up color.
Overall, I think this is a great everyday palette and the packaging is quite classy looking as well.

Cost: $5.99 @ Winners or $5.00USD online at eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I really would it’s a great palette to use and the shades are pretty good it’s great from beginner’s makeup. This palette works great as a gift as suggested with the glittery box and I plan to purchase a few more for my friends.

Review: The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer

18 Jul

Hello everyone! Summer make up means to me bronze goddess! So bronzer is a must for that sun-kissed glow.

Review: Bahama Mama is a matte bronzer with a brown shade as the base color. So it’s not like most bronzers out in the drugstore which can run a bit orange. It doesn’t have any sparkle/glitter/shimmers and has no scent. I got this in a gift with purchase at Rexall drugstores so mine isn’t the full sized version. This works great as a contour shade and a cheek color as well. It adds a nice shadows and can make you look like you got a real tan (if you use it all over). It is pretty pigmented and applies smoothly over the face. I love that it’s matte and doesn’t appear too orangey on my skintone. What I dislike is the packaging I find that as I am applying the bronzer the top can flip back down thus closing the product. And I don’t think the mirror included was of any use. Overall, a pretty good bronzer I won’t be repurchasing this anytime soon as I’m not a big bronzer fan but if I do feel like getting any bronzer it would be this one.

Cost: $19USD/ $23CDN @ Sephora.com, Rexall Drugstores

Would I recommend this product? Yes I would it works great as a contour shade and a bronzer.
