Review: MAC Paintpot in Soft Ochre

22 Feb

Hello everyone! A permanent item from MAC will be reviewed today so there is a lot of time to go and buy the product if you like it.

Description: Soft Ochre is a cream eyeshadow that has a yellow base and is considered a natural eyeshadow shade. There is no shimmer and is just a creamy yellow skintone shade.

Review: I have to point out that I love MAC Paintpots and would love to get more but funds and more interesting makeup collections interest me more. ^_^ The texture is a bit thicker than the Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows but works as a great base. But it still feels creamy especially when the product is applied with the fingers (fingers warm up the product). Pigmentation is pretty good as you can tell from the swatch it also covers up vein spots if your eyelid skin is very thin. My aunt loves this for covering up the veins in her eyes. As a base it works pretty good it wore for about 6-7 hours without primer and 8-9 hours with primer so it’s pretty long lasting which is great. When eyeshadows are applied on top it sort of dulls the shade especially with shimmery eyeshadows. Overall, I think that this is a great product and would love to try some more shades.

Cost: $21.00CDN

Where to buy: MAC counters @ the Bay, Freestanding MAC stores, maccosmetics.ca/maccosmetics.com

Would I recommend this product? I would this works as a great base and keeps eyeshadows lasting longer though a little pricey it is still more cost effective than buying either Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

Review: MAC Naturally

16 Jan

Hello everyone! So this is the first time that I have reviewed a MAC limited edition collection (and it is also the first time that I really splurged on a makeup collection). Items reviewed will be 2 Mineralized Eyeshadows, a Mineralized Skin Finish, and a Mineralized Blush. So since there are a few different items this review will be set up differently.

First off the Mineralized Eyeshadows. There is a total of five shades but I picked out just two shades (poor student here) they are $24CDN each.
Daylight is described as a cool-toned lavender shade and In the Sun is a glittery light brown-burgandy shade. Both shades wear for around 6 hours without fading and begins to fade (this is testing with a primer underneath). I found that In the Sun was a little harder to work with and not as smooth as Daylight (perhaps it was the glitter). Both are smooth pigmented and they are in general great shades to play with for a natural look. I haven’t tried using the shadows with water but will definately try in the future.

Next is the Mineralized Blush I have a lot of blushes so I picked out a standout color in this collection. There are three blushes in total but the one I picked up is Fresh Honey the blushes are $27.50CDN.
Fresh Honey is an apricot very orange shade. It is pigmented but can be a bit chalky the wear time is 8 hours and even though it looks scary it is quity wearable.

I saved the best for last the ever coverted Redhead Mineralized Skin Finish. I didn’t pick up Blonde due to the pink undertones so Redhead it was. The cost of these are pretty high $33.50CDN for one I seriously winced when I found out it now takes the place of the most expensive highlighter that I own.
Redhead is described as a warm champagne transitioning into dark pink. The wear time is great around 8 hours, the highlighting effects that it gives is a warm sheen to the skin and looks very natural. The powder is smooth, creamy and very blendable.

MAC + Disney Collab

23 Jun

It’s official MAC Cosmetics is collabing with Disney for the Venomous Villains.

I don’t know if I should save up for this collection or not… as much as I like Disney I’m not a huge fan of the villains. If I were to pick up some items from this collection it would probably be Innocence, Beware! Lipstick from Cruella De Vil and Strange Potion Lipglass from the Evil Queen.
I’m going to think about this collection a little more… someone wanna pick these items up for me for my birthday (which coincidently is in Sept)? ^_^

Wanted!

10 Feb

Something new that I want to get… MAC’s new Viva Glam models Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga. Here’s the promotional photo.

I would love to get Lady Gaga’s lipcolor which is a blue-pink tone.

Best part about MAC’s Viva Glam collection is that they donate all the money made from these lipsticks to an HIV/AIDs program. Great huh? The two lippies will hit shelves Mar 18, 2010 and I am so getting mine even though I really don’t like Lady Gaga I will get the shade and help out a cause. Yay!

Other then that positive part of the day I’ve been trying to track down a MAC Hello Kitty Lip Conditioner in Popster which kinda looks like this…

Thanks to http://fav3.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/maclipcond.jpg for the photo.

If anyone knows where to find them still in Edmonton, AB, Canada that would be great… I don’t like online shopping therefore no ebay or any other online shop site. *sigh*

Today was a pretty good day overall… until the exam of course… studying like crazy!
