Review: MAC Soft & Gentle Mineralized Skin Finish

25 Apr

Hello everyone! A highlighter review today and it’s on one of MAC’s best selling item the Soft&Gentle MSF! I’ve had mine for quite some time so it looks a little strange/used but onto the review!

Description: Champagne golden highlighter in a baked mineralize formula.

Review: It has taken me a year to review this product perhaps because I don’t want to tell you all how awesome it is and want to keep it all to myself. But I must let the secret out that this highlighter is extremely amazing on the skin and is awesome. First off the highlighted look that you get with this product is amazing it looks like a subtle sheen on the skin and works well with all skintones. There is a little bit of glitter mixed in the product itself but it is easily wiped off with a clean makeup brush. With the swatch capturing highlighters on camera is a really difficult task but I did my best and that is the resulting shot. As you can tell it will blend easily into the skin and lasting time is 6 hours but this will not look as nice and highlighted around the 5 hour mark. Overall, a great staple and one I would repurchase if I didn’t have an infinite amount of highlighters.

Cost: $34CDN @ Maccosmetics.ca, or at MAC counters @ the Bay, or freestanding stores

Would I recommend this product? I would if you do not have any other highlighters in your makeup stash this works lovely and the glow is just beautiful.

Review: Physician’s Formula Season-to-Season Bronzer

28 Mar

Hello everyone! Hooray Spring is coming soon and now I can seriously layer on bronzer for the sought after sun-kissed glow without worrying about skin cancer.

(Top = whole bronzer, L-R: Winter, Spring, Fall, Summer and Middle ball of sparkly stuff)

Description: Wanna look like you have a faux tan everyday of the year? Well this is for you! Four customizable shades for the perfect bronzer look. Swatches were done with one swipe.

Review: Man, this was a pretty pricey bronzer I have to say especially for drugstore. I’ve never actually seen this on sale so those who really want to pick it up just be prepared to pay a bit for it. I personally do enjoy how this bronzer was promoting four different shades for all seasons. It’s a great concept and is sure to be  a hit all year round. Unfortunately there are somethings that are not so good about it. The colors are great they aren’t an Oompa-loompa orange so that’s always nice. All the colors are very pigmented but there is glitter throughout the entire product especially in the center with a little anchor like thing it is just shimmer to add to your face. It blends out easily though and the packaging is quite sturdy even though it’s a little too big for my liking it still works. Staying power was around 5-6 hours without any touch ups which is nice. Now for the unfortunate part of this bronzer, the scent. I smells very intensely of fake flowers and it’s not a pleasant scent I could even smell it after I put it on my face. So for those who have sensitive skin the scent can be a bit irritating on the skin. Also the amount of glitter/shimmers put into the product is a bit off putting I love my shimmer but not when it’ll make me look like a glitter bomb. Overall, I think it’s a nice bronzer with a great concept but the scent and shimmer is very off-putting for me. I won’t repurchase but it’s not a bad product per say.

Cost: $21.99CDN @ Shoppers Drug Mart

Would I recommend this product? I would for those who love shimmery bronzers, enjoy floral scents or do not mind scents in their cosmetics. Everyone else who hates shimmer and intense scents I would recommend to stay far far away from this product.

Review: ELF Blush and Bronzing Duo

22 Dec

Hello everyone! Man, I am so sorry for all these posts. It’s a bit crazy at my house so posting these will put some pressure off me and keep me occupied for some time.

Description: A blush and bronzer duo similar to the NARS duo in Orgasm and Laguna. The blush is a light pink shade with gold glitters, and the bronzer is a dark brown with gold glitters (luckily not too noticeable).

Review: Could I just ask who actually owns the NARS duo in Orgasm and Laguna? A lot of you? Well I don’t have the duo but whispers on the internet says that the shades are similar as well as the packaging. Personally I’m not a huge fan of blushes with glitters in it but this blush doesn’t show that much glitter on my skin. Same thing goes for the bronzer as I mainly use bronzer to contour but the glitters don’t show up that much on my skin which is nice. I don’t have to worry about reflecting light off as much to the point where I can be a glitter bomb. Wear time is pretty good about 6 hours on my skin (it’s oily but lately it’s been dry due to the weather). I really like this product and it does work to multitask which is great. The packaging is nice and sturdy and the big mirror included is really nice. Overall, I’m going to join the legions of people who absolutely adore this blush and bronzer duo.

Cost: $3USd @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I would as it is a great everyday blush color and the bronzer works well and who can’t resist the fact that it’s a NARS dupe.

Review: Urban Decay Naked Palette

21 Dec

Hello everyone! So as you all know Urban Decay has released out a new Naked 2 palette but me being slow I just got the first one… but here’s the review.

Description: A cult item which houses 12 shades of warm toned eyeshadows with a variety in textures. Shades include Virgin (light pink with microshimmer similar to Joe Fresh eyeshadow in Pale Pink, a satin finish), Sin (shimmering pink, shimmer finish), Naked (buck wheat shade, matte finish), Sidecar (golden taupe shade, glitter finish), Buck (medium brown, matte finish), Half Baked (gold, shimmer finish), Smog (medium brown with light brown shimmers, shimmer shade), Darkhorse (dark brown, satin finish), Toasted (dark brown with pink based undertones, satin finish), Hustle (dark brown, satin finish), Creep (black with silver and gold microglitter, satin finish) and Gunmetal (dark gray with silver microglitter, satin finish).

Review: I didn’t know what I was missing out on. This is a great everyday palette with wearable everyday shades. Pigmentation is amazing for each of the shades there are no duds in this palette. The textures for each is just amazing, packaging is classy, and the blending of the shades is just great. A con I would say would be the velvet feel of the packaging I feel as though it can get a bit messy with eyeshadow fall out and whatnot but it’s still a nice texture to feel in the morning. I really really like this palette and everything about it is great! So now I’m another person who absolutely enjoys this palette.

Cost: $52 CDN @ Sephora

Would I recommend this product? I totally would the shades are gorgeous and they are all everyday wearable shades. It’s just a great palette I can’t gush about how great it is.

Review: E.L.F. 32 Eyeshadow Palette – Warm

20 Dec

Hello everyone! Just got this palette from Winners and since I finished practicing some accounting I thought I ought to swatch and review for you guys.

Description: A 32 color palette with tantilizing warm shades. It also comes in a cool tone palette with brighter and cooler shades.

Review: First off I just want to say that I’ve been lately getting into palettes due to the fact that it’s a little easier to fiddle with one big thing rather than 10 smaller items.
This palette is a great everyday shade palette as you can tell from the swatches and palette photos there is a mixture of mattes, shimmers, and only 2 glitters in this palette. I really like the shades as they are warm but the colors are very wearable. The colors in general glide on smoothly and blend easily.
Pigmentation for the lighter shades is not as strong as the darker shades but the darker shades in the bottom right corner do not have good color payoff. I don’t know if it’s because of the formula but it’s not the most pigmented colors. The darkers shades were a bit harder than the lighter shades which was easier to dip a brush in and pick up color.
Overall, I think this is a great everyday palette and the packaging is quite classy looking as well.

Cost: $5.99 @ Winners or $5.00USD online at eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I really would it’s a great palette to use and the shades are pretty good it’s great from beginner’s makeup. This palette works great as a gift as suggested with the glittery box and I plan to purchase a few more for my friends.

Review: MAC Dazzleglass Creme in Perfectly Unordinary

21 Jun

Hello everyone! Remember when I ordered some stuff from allcosmeticswholesale.com well this is the first product I’ll be reviewing from it. This MAC lipgloss was limited edition and is currently not available at MAC counters and stores.

Review: I wasn’t expecting to be blown away or anything but it was sort of like a meh it’s pretty good but not that good sort of feel for me. MAC Dazzleglass Cremes were released back in 2010 I believe in it’s own collection it is a mixture between the Dazzleglass formula (glitter) and Cremesheen (creamy) formulas. I picked up Perfectly Unordinary which is a mid-tone pink with gold glitter. It’s a pretty ordinary color something for everyday which is great and the glitters add a nice oomph to the shade to make it a little different from other gloss shades on the market but I still feel like it’s still dupable. Anyways, packaging is nice and there is no MAC signature vanilla scent. Wear time for me ends up being about 2-3 hours without eating and drinking (I drink a lot of water what can I say?) it’s also non-sticky. What I dislike is that after the gloss wears away the glitter is leftover on your lips… which isn’t attractive at all. Overall, a nice gloss but not a huge fan of the formula.

Cost: $10 USD @ allcosmeticswholesale.com

Would I recommend this product? I would but the glitter puts me off purchasing more of these types of glosses from MAC. If you like glitter than this is for you but if not then I don’t recommend it.

Review: Hard Candy Glossaholic in Gorgeous

30 May

Hello everyone! A review today I picked this up a while ago and have been using it for some time then realized I didn’t review it yet so here it is.

Review: Let me start off by saying that this gloss is bigger than the ones on the market. It contains 0.38 fl oz. while regular is around 0.17 fl oz. That’s double the size and it’s at a really great price too! If you can see in the swatch there are chunky glitters in the gloss itself that depending on the light can be a green or red flecks. It is a pretty standard pink color with the glitters that add some extra oomph to the gloss. Wear time is the same for any gloss around 2-3 hours with/without eating and drinking. I like that it’s not extremely sticky but still stays on the lips for quite some time. There is a vanilla cake batter scent but that goes away after some time. This gloss looks great on it’s own or on top of a lipstick. For the cons since this gloss is bigger than other glosses on the market the applicator can sometimes get stuck in the small hole but can be easily fixed by applying force. Overall a great gloss for a good price.

Cost: $4.79CDN @ Walmart

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product  for those who love glitter in their glosses or for those looking for a basic color with some pop but I won’t be purchasing anymore as chunks of glitter isn’t my cup of tea.
