Review: Milani Color Statement Lipstick in 14 Rose Hip and 15 Hot Pink Rage

13 Jun

Hello everyone! These lipsticks have finally popped up in Canada which is extremely exciting. I didn’t need anymore lipsticks but I had to pick some up from this line after all it smells like watermelon!

IMG_1727 IMG_1729 IMG_1732 IMG_1735 Top: Rose Hip, Bottom: Hot Pink Rage

Description: Rose Hip is a bright bubblegum midtone pink cream, Hot Pink Rage a midtone watermelon red-pink cream.

Review: Both of these shades are cream finishes which is my preferred finish in lipsticks. The both glide on very smoothly and stay on for 3-4 hours without touching up; 2-3 hours with eating and drinking. These leave a stain behind once the lipstick fades and the stain did last for a full 8 hours. For those who are sensitive to scents these are watermelon scented and it can sometimes be overpowering. As you can tell from the swatches they are extremely pigmented crazy pigmented. These glide on smoothly over the lips (if you have lipbalm over them) and doesn’t look patchy at all. Overall, great lipsticks for the price and the pigmentation and shades are to die for!

Cost: $5-8 CDN @ Superstore, Target

Would I recommend this product? Yes, these are great lipsticks it’s just sad that they aren’t readily available.

Review: Annabelle Smudge Paint

6 Sep

Hello everyone! Canadian goodies today well technically goodie but still a really great drugstore find.

*I apologize for no swatch photo because it got lost trying to find it’s way here.

Description: A smudge-resistant liner with a smooth formula for any eye-look.

Review: Straight off the bat I have to say that I absolutely adore this liner. I am not usually a gel liner person due to the amount of time it takes to get ready in the morning but with this I’ve been converted (if only on the weekends when I have time). The product itself is quite small about the size of a Canadian quarter and is filled up very nicely. I dislike how the gel liner was packaged though it has a small hole to poke your brush in and when you reach the bottom you can’t reach much of the eyeliner on the side which is a bummer as I wanted to get all the product that was available in the pot.

This is one of the better gel liners that I have tried the formula isn’t as thick as say the Maybelline Eyestudio Gel liner but has a very creamy almost mousse like texture to it. This though makes it very easy to pick up a lot of product due to extremely soft nature of the gel. But on the eyes it glides on smoothly like the Annabelle Smudgeliners (review here) though I feel it is even smoother than the pencil form. The lasting power is amazing I have extremely oily lids so when I didn’t use any primer it still stayed on for about 6-7 hours which is crazy but I found that if I applied a little bit too much it will crease at around the 3-4 hour mark. So thin layers of the product is recommended. Pigmentation is just lovely I picked up Tar which is the basic black shade and it is pigmented like no tomorrow.

Overall, I think this eyeliner rocks and would definately recommend all of you Canadian girls to pick up some!

Cost: $9-13CDN @ various drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? Those who live in Canada RUN don’t walk RUN to your local drugstore to pick these guys up they are AMAZING and totally worth their price. I apologize for those who live abroad as Annabelle is only available in Canada but if you make a good Canadian friend a swap should be in order.

Review: Maybelline Colorsensation Lipstick in 625 Are you Red-dy

3 Aug

Hello everyone! OMG it’s a red lipstick!!

Description: A true red leaning a bit orange but overall a true red lipstick.

Review: Every woman should own at least one red lipstick but finding the right red lipstick is hard to do especially considering undertones and whatnot. With Maybelline’s Are you Red-dy the color is a saturated, pigmented red shade. There is bits of underlying orange but this is mainly a red lipstick. The lipstick slides smoothly across the lips and is pretty long lasting. On me it lasted about 5-6 hours including eating and drinking. There is no scent which is good and I really like the packaging of this; the red makes it easier for me to spot and pick up to use. Overall, a great shade for any skintone.

Cost: $5.99-9.99 @ local drugstore/ supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I totally would it is a nice red to own but I probably won’t repurchase because I don’t wear reds that often.

Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

7 Jul

Hello everyone! A powder review today… it’s pretty good.

Review: I picked this up because I ran out of powders (again and now I have a bunch of them… I just don’t know when to stop). The shade is 001 translucent so it’s pretty translucent on my face. There is no scent and the powder works great at controlling oils and whatnot on my face I still have to blot unfortunately but not as often anymore (great!) The powder is pretty silky now since it’s pretty silky and just glides over the face nicely it’s hard to tell when to stop as is with all powders so sometimes I end up with an over powdered face (gotta learn some self controll). This also appears to cover some pores and leaves skin with a nice fresh look when used alone (not as a setting powder). What I also dislike is the packaging if I take this on a trip I’m pretty sure it’s going to be broken real quick. The trouble is the lid it has a habit of just sliding off and just freaks me out everytime I put it back in my drawer. Despite me being scared of breaking the powder because of packaging it’s a really good mattifying powder.

Cost: $4-8CDN @ drugstore and Supermarket

Would I recommend this product? I would highly recommend this for people with combination to oily skin (though if you’re really oily you’ll have to reblot but not as often as usual) and there are different shades available as well.
