Review: GOSH Cover Me Up Makeup Mousse

26 Mar

Hello everyone! I think this is the first UK based cosmetics companies that I have tried. Exciting stuff!

à

Description: A moisturizing foundation with Jojoba and Vitamin E for a silky soft, light and long-lasting look. 04 Champagne was purchased and is discontinued in Canada.

Review: Now before you mention anything I know that the shade is currently too dark for my skintone and that is very true. I purchased this only because it was on sale and I wanted to find out what the texture was like. Since it currently is too dark I use it as a bronzer since it would be wasteful of my money to just toss the product just to see what sort of texture it has. Now despite how orange it looks it looks quite natural on the skin as long as I use a translucent powder (the powder seems to lighten up the shade a bit). Unfortunately it oxidizes around the 3 hour mark and leaves your face looking very orange. That is not attractive at all and considering how little I use it will last me eons to use. Perhaps in the summer when I am tanner and put on a really good mattifying primer will the foundation stay on and not oxidize. But until then this is just being used as a bronzer. Putting a few of the negatives aside I really like the consistency of this product it kind of reminds me of a mousse dessert that you would get at high end restaurants. You know the ones where it looks really light and fluffy but is super dense and filled with extreme flavoury goodness. Pigmentation is quite good it gets a bit of color on the skin but smooths out very well over the skin. The packaging is a simple screw on lid with actually a cover but I took that out because it started to annoy me after a while. Overall, I think it’s a good product concept just not what I need for my skin.

Cost: $5.99CDN @ Shopper Drug Mart

Would I recommend this product? Unfortunately since this is discontinued in Canada there is no place for me to recommend you to try for Canadians but it is still available overseas. This is a nice product just make sure to pick up your perfect shade.

Products I regret buying – Makeup

3 Jan

Hello everyone! This is a photo of makeup products that I regret buying. I’m also going to be doing one for skincare as well but that’s something totally different. So these are the products that I regret buying in 2010.

Products include:

The Body Shop Cheek Stamps (01 and 02) & Tea tree concealer (02)
Sally’s beauty inspired by Carmindy cream blushes (Ginger, Sunrise)
Wet ‘n’ Wild Blush (Spotlight Peach)
Stila Lipglaze (Cranberry, Candy, Plum Fairy & Starfruit) & Lip gloss (unknown bright pink color)
Revlon Colorstay Foundation (totally put off liquid foundation) & Mineralized Skin Finish (Brightening)
Maybelline Age Rewind Foundation & Colorsensation lipstick (pink please)
N.Y.C. pot lipgloss (watermelon) & Tinted Lip slider (sugar coated)
Clinique brow powder (shaping taupe)
Joe Fresh Lip gloss (nude)
MAC Viva Glam Gaga
Rimmel Moisture Renew (Nude delight)
Covergirl lipstick (it’s your mauve)
Bath & Body Works Liplicious (Grapefruit)
Nivea lipbalms (Cherry tint, caregloss and shine, sun protection)

That is a lot of product but then again I did buy many things in 2010. Hopefully after 2011 is over there won’t be as many products. In the meanwhile I am going to be trying to finish up these products then I can go buy new ones.

Train case was a gift to myself I will post up its contents later.

Makeup as a gift?

10 Aug

Hi everyone! So I get asked a lot by my friends about getting other people makeup as a birthday present or Christmas or whenever you give presents. And I am kind of on the fence for this question. I’m going to present some thoughts that go through my brain if I was going to give makeup to my friends as presents.

1. Do NOT give makeup to friends

Reasons

– You don’t know their color likes and dislikes or you could totally pick a wrong color for their skintone.

– If your friend is a makeup collector (like me) they could possibly have the same color or product in their collection.

2. Give makeup to your friends

Reasons

– Get a makeup bag and fill it up with some goodies and if they don’t like something they always have something else.

– Give them new products to try out such as an outrageous eyeshadow color or a new lip color without them having to commit to a full-sized product.

For me I only give makeup for those starting out with makeup so for those going into highschool or prom. That is where I do the works and go shopping with them to test out shades of color and such. For those who are already into makeup I give them hard to find items (or items they wouldn’t think about getting themselves) or products that are a staple in makeup collection.

Foundation, face powder, and concealer are extremely hard to match to a person so I would stay away from them. Everything else is fair game!

Review: Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Oily Skin

24 Jul

The ever popular foundation used on Youtube and the most loved I suppose. Sorry for the flash and my shade is in Sand Beige.

Review: I have not as much experience with foundation as most people would have if they were a makeup artist but I have learned. This was my first liquid foundation and man was it hard to determine what foundation technique I should use with it. I ended up doing the stippling method, foundation brush, and the sponge method never liking any of them but the stippling method (but it was a pain to clean the brush takes 2 days for it to fully dry). Even though this foundation was pretty much liquid it gave the coverage required (medium to full) and worked as all those people on Youtube have said. Drugstores do have a good range of colours for people of different skin tones and this colour matched me really well. For the oily skin formula it did control oil a bit but at the end of the day you look like you have a sort of healthy glow due to the oil. Things I didn’t like about it was that it could get very thick and cakey especially in the summer. I like the natural feeling where you can’t feel the foundation on your face but this just wasn’t one of them.

Cost: $15 – 19CDN wherever available

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this for those oily people in the wintertime (who likes wearing a full face of makeup in the summer?) . Though for me I would only reserve this foundation for special events (full coverage) and wintertime.

Pick me up!

13 Jul

Instead of the usual title of “Haul” or something related to it I decided on this title… maybe I should do a haul type of category… putting that aside here are the things that I have picked up today. (I tend to buy things over the course of some time but lately I haven’t had time to go every other day and such so this time I saved up for it and got it all in one day)

Items include:

Annabelle – Custom Quad

Lipsmackers – Lipbalm in Watermelon (heh my favourite)

Maybelline – Dream Matte Powder in Medium, Dream Matte Mousse Concealer in Medium (too dark for me)

N.Y.C. – Blushable Creme Stick in South St. Seashell, Lip Slider Tinted Lip Balm in Sugar Coated, Individual Eyes in Union Square (for Brown Eyes)

Sallys Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy – Sheerest Cream Blush in Sunrise and Ginger

Shiseido – SPF35 Powder Foundation in SP30 (including compact)

Tokidoki – Prisma Lipgloss in Burger (orange) and Ninja Dog (light blue)

So this means a lot of reviews are going to come up. >.< For the Tokidoki items they are for my birthday so I can’t use them or open them even though I am very VERY tempted too.
