Review: MAC In Extra Dimension

15 Apr

Hello everyone! So MAC has released a few limited edition collections this month and surprisingly I only picked up one item from this collection and I’m getting the 2nd collection item sometime next week.

Description: Bright shimmering lime-green eye shadow. It comes with 2grams/0.07 US Oz.

Review: This is the third time MAC has released the Extra Dimension formula in the market (first time last year in Mar and Nov for the holiday) and this is exciting as the Extra Dimension formula is one of the best formulations that MAC has to offer for those who love their metallic shine. Personally I love a little Extra Dimension in my life but not too often so these have a special place in my heart for those I want glitter on my eyes but not real glitter because they are a pain to apply. It’s an Extra Dimension day! The formulation is very smooth and pigmented and Zestful is such a fun shade. I have worn this by itself and it really lit up my eyes and it works well as a layering eye shadow to brighten the base shade. Wear time was typical for an eye shadow 6 hours without primer and 8 hours with primer I love that the metallic effect stays on the entire time and doesn’t fade. All the Extra Dimension products have a strange plastic scent to me but I’m glad my skin doesn’t smell it. Overall, I love the formulation and would purchase more if only it wasn’t so expensive per eye shadow.

Cost: $25CDN @ maccosmetics.ca, and MAC stores/counters in the Bay

Would I recommend this product? This is a lovely eye shadow shade that is a multi-tasker and I think would work great with all kinds of skin tones. If only the shade and formula were available year-round and not limited edition.

Review: L’oreal Infallible Eyeshadows

28 Feb

Hello everyone! Sorry for a late night post today but hey it’s something super awesome!

Description: Smooth, creamy eyeshadow that won’t fade, crease and is waterproof. The shades purchased were Hourglass Beige (yellow based beige shimmer) and Forever Pink (light frosty pink with shimmer).

Review: These have been out in Canada for a while but I finally got around to picking them up and testing them out and I’m just going to say that I am impressed. I really like these for quick makeup days and also for days I spend more time of my makeup in the morning. I got two pretty much neutral shades but they are great for an everyday look I sometimes wear Forever Pink and some liner and call it a day it’s that simple and easy. I found that brushes don’t work well with this type of formula it’s a cross between a pressed pigment and loose pigment but feels like a cream eyeshadow (yeah it’s that smooth). A sponge-tip applicator or your finger works best using this. Pigmentation just blows you out of the park it’s really pigmented and there are now matte shades available in the line. It stays on for about 6-8 hours without primer and more than 8 hours when used with a primer. I’ve tested these in the shower and they stay on but if rubbed they will come off. The only quib I have is the packaging it just feels a little awkward to carry around with the square-like base and circle cap. Overall, this is a really great drugstore product I love that drugstores are really stepping up the makeup game.

Cost: $9-13 CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I totally would they work really great and stay on forever! Definately would love to pick up more shades if they weren’t so expensive…

Review: ELF Beauty Eye Manual – Natural Edition

22 Dec

Hello everyone! Part 2 = Natural

Description: An eye palette containing 12 shades for a natural nude look. Shade descriptions from left to right (top to bottom) Row 1 has a matte cream, glittery light brown, matte tan, and a shimmery mid tone brown; Row 2 has a shimmery dark champagne, shimmery golden brown, shimmery bronze and a glittery gold brown; Row 3 matte gray-tone brown, shimmery silver tone light brown, glittery gold gray tone brown, and a shimmery dark brown. Swatches were done with one swipe.

Review: Whew, an everyday palette from ELF then again who isn’t making neutral everyday palettes? I found all the shades to be soft, blendable and pigmented which is good considering that all 12 shades were done really really well. Packaging nothing to speak home about but it works. Just once I would love to just try and travel with it to see how friendly it is for travelling. Wear time is about 4 hours and with primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion) about 8 hours give or take a few hours. Overall, I have to say that I am impressed by the shadows and formulation of this palette. It’s an A+ in my book despite the packaging.

Cost: $5USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I would this is a great palette for those beginning with makeup and those who use neutral shades everyday. Highly recommend!

Review: Maybelline ShineSensational Lipgloss – Watermelon

22 Nov

Hello everyone!

A review today for a pretty good drugstore lipgloss.

Description: Giving you an incredible shine and exceptional great tasting gloss.

Review: This lipgloss tastes like watermelons and is a essentially red jelly gloss. I personally love it as an everyday gloss the formula is light, non sticky, and doesn’t settle into the lip lines. The gloss lasts for about 3-4 hours without eating or drinking so about average for a lipgloss.

Cost: $4-8 CDN @ various drugstores

Would I recommend this product? I totally would it’s a really great everyday gloss and the range of colors is just awesome. I would have picked up more but I got no space for it boo…
