Review: Maybelline Color Whispers in Who wore it Red-er and Oh La Lilac

28 Feb

Hello everyone! An exciting review for today as I have finally found these lipsticks in the drugstores. I only got to pick up two shades but I’m thinking I need one more shade in my life.

Description: Shades pictured is 45 Who wore it Red-er (orange-tone bright candy red) and 90 Oh La Lilac (light lavender with pink undertones on the lips)

Review: I have a love for sheer formula lipsticks for everyday usage. These lipsticks are perfect for everyday and I had to purchase some unique shades but the formulation encourages me to use these everyday even though the red is a little glam for an everyday look. As you can tell in the swatch they have a nice shiny finish which looks like you are wearing a pigmented gloss on the lips. These have a tendency to settle into lip lines and cling to dried lip skin which makes it not look as even. They also wear off at the 2 hour mark (without eating or drinking) so reapplication is needed. The texture of these are great they are similar to Revlon Lip Butters but have a smoother glide over the lips. The lipsticks have no scent and is slimmer than the regular line also the packaging is really cute. Overall, a great everyday lip product (provided you purchase everyday shades… unlike me).

Cost: $5-7CDN @ various drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? For those who love sheer lipsticks for a drugstore price yes!

Review: Urban Decay Naked Palette

21 Dec

Hello everyone! So as you all know Urban Decay has released out a new Naked 2 palette but me being slow I just got the first one… but here’s the review.

Description: A cult item which houses 12 shades of warm toned eyeshadows with a variety in textures. Shades include Virgin (light pink with microshimmer similar to Joe Fresh eyeshadow in Pale Pink, a satin finish), Sin (shimmering pink, shimmer finish), Naked (buck wheat shade, matte finish), Sidecar (golden taupe shade, glitter finish), Buck (medium brown, matte finish), Half Baked (gold, shimmer finish), Smog (medium brown with light brown shimmers, shimmer shade), Darkhorse (dark brown, satin finish), Toasted (dark brown with pink based undertones, satin finish), Hustle (dark brown, satin finish), Creep (black with silver and gold microglitter, satin finish) and Gunmetal (dark gray with silver microglitter, satin finish).

Review: I didn’t know what I was missing out on. This is a great everyday palette with wearable everyday shades. Pigmentation is amazing for each of the shades there are no duds in this palette. The textures for each is just amazing, packaging is classy, and the blending of the shades is just great. A con I would say would be the velvet feel of the packaging I feel as though it can get a bit messy with eyeshadow fall out and whatnot but it’s still a nice texture to feel in the morning. I really really like this palette and everything about it is great! So now I’m another person who absolutely enjoys this palette.

Cost: $52 CDN @ Sephora

Would I recommend this product? I totally would the shades are gorgeous and they are all everyday wearable shades. It’s just a great palette I can’t gush about how great it is.

Review: Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in 110 Keep a Secret

5 Aug

Hello everyone! A gloss review today and I picked up this shade because I was looking for a basic everyday lipgloss.

Product Description: A gloss that give you the ultimate shine and makes your lips look poutier. 110 Keep a secret is a light pink shade with silver microshimmers.

Review: This gloss gives you a really nive shine on your lips and they have the same scents as the Lasting finish lipsticks which is vanilla cupcake. The lasting power of this isn’t that great it only lasts on your lips for about an hour max and that’s without eating and drinking but I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day due to the low cost. The gloss glides on smoothly and the doe foot applicator fits just nicely with my lips. I think this is a great basic gloss that everyone should have in their bag. Definately would love to pick up more shades in this gloss range.

Cost: $5-9CDN in drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? I would really recommend this product and would purchase other shades. It works great as an everyday gloss.

Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

7 Jul

Hello everyone! A powder review today… it’s pretty good.

Review: I picked this up because I ran out of powders (again and now I have a bunch of them… I just don’t know when to stop). The shade is 001 translucent so it’s pretty translucent on my face. There is no scent and the powder works great at controlling oils and whatnot on my face I still have to blot unfortunately but not as often anymore (great!) The powder is pretty silky now since it’s pretty silky and just glides over the face nicely it’s hard to tell when to stop as is with all powders so sometimes I end up with an over powdered face (gotta learn some self controll). This also appears to cover some pores and leaves skin with a nice fresh look when used alone (not as a setting powder). What I also dislike is the packaging if I take this on a trip I’m pretty sure it’s going to be broken real quick. The trouble is the lid it has a habit of just sliding off and just freaks me out everytime I put it back in my drawer. Despite me being scared of breaking the powder because of packaging it’s a really good mattifying powder.

Cost: $4-8CDN @ drugstore and Supermarket

Would I recommend this product? I would highly recommend this for people with combination to oily skin (though if you’re really oily you’ll have to reblot but not as often as usual) and there are different shades available as well.

20 things before 20

18 May

Hello everyone! So I have a 20 things before 20 list which is a list I compiled of 20 things to do before I turn 20 this September (19 to be specific). I have some time before my birthday so this list is to help me go through things that I would never do if I didn’t have a timeline. So here is my list:

1. Finish my embroidery project.

2. Read Watchmen.

3. Buy an iPad 2… enough said

4. Go to Animethon 18 which is on Aug 5-7 this year. I will be planning to go for only one day I don’t think I can get off work that easily.

5. Finish Wa-loli Kuro outfit. I started this project 3 years ago and have never finished it better late then never right?

6. Obtain a mushroom farm… kinda like this:

7. Pay mum & dad $100 from my first paycheck as well as my brother $100 (cuz I owe him for all the lunches he’s treated me to) and for my little sister $40 (she complains that she doesn’t have money all the time). Hopefully this one will be soon. ^-^

8. Get a library card… since I’m an adult I have to go get my own library card but I’ve just been lazy to go get one… I will get one though.

9. Start Youtube videos… something I’ve been wanting to do since last year but never had courage or time to make videos and put it up. I will do it for sure!!

10. Determine birthday present wishlist. I know that the iPad is on this list for a reason…

11. Determine 2 year financial plan. Since I plan to go to Japan in the upcoming 2 years I have to plan to make sure that I have enough money while travelling and such. Thus this plan… it’s going to take a lot of brain power that’s why I keep putting it aside.

12. Stay a neat freak… yeah this photo really shows how much I need to stay a neat freak.

13. Continue to study Japanese and Chinese. This one I won’t be doing anytime soon until school starts in September. I will be attending a Sat language class in Sept.

14. Try out a different martial arts even if it’s just one class I would like to try something different. Perhaps kung fu?

15. Attemp yoga/pilates. I would really like to try this but I don’t have much money to spend it on a class (financial plan) so I will learn from a book/video from the library (need library card) or Youtube is a great resource as well.

16. Try food from Sbarro, Thai Express, and Taco Bell. I just want to get out of my usual going to McDonalds or Subway to eat. I never try different foods so here are three places great to try out my taste palette.

17. Go to a spa. I have never gone to a beauty salon so I would really like to go to one. Perhaps from Eveline Charles.

18. Go on a staycation. I am planning with my brother and sister that we should go to the car museum in Wetaskiwin and possibly the Aviation museum in Alberta. But other things for a staycation is attending Capital X (summer amusement park) and Heritage festival (showcasing different cultures from different countries) as well as Animethon of course.

19. Play Spyro: Ripto’s Rage (PS) and finish Pokemon SoulSilver (DS). I have not finished these games and would really like to for sure.

20. Attempt to make curry flavoured popcorn. I heard about the elusive curry flavoured popcorn and since there is not a big chance to come across curry flavoured popcorn I might as well make it myself.

I will be updating every time I finish an item on the list and there is no set order to complete the list as long as the list is completely finished before I turn 20.
