Review: Dior DiorSkin Shimmer Star in Amber Diamond

21 Feb

Hello everyone! An exciting post today as I am finally getting around to reviewing the infamous Dior Amber Diamond highlighter! If you can recall (I had to look back a while) I actually hauled this in March 2012. Haul post found HERE. So I’ve had this for about a year and I am finally reviewing it… clearly I have priorities straight but onto the review!

Description: A highlighting powder with fine shimmers for a glimmering look. Shades include ivory, champagne, tan, bronze, and peach strips and when blended together it will produce a golden glow.

Review: I love high-end products as much as the next girl and it takes a bit of convincing to actually purchase these sorts of products. Of course, it’s not like I needed another highlighter in my life but it’s extremely gorgeous! The packaging is hard plastic with Dior label in the middle. The five shades mix well together and create a gorgeous golden glow in the cheeks. I have a tendency to overdo my highlighter as I love the effect that they give my skin but no matter how much product I use (little or a lot) it does not look overdone not cakey on the skin. Texture is a very finely milled powder and all five shades are pigmented. Overall, this is extremely beautiful highlighter and I can really see why people love this product.

Cost: $45USD/$45CDN

Where to buy: Dior counters @ the Bay/Sears, Sephora.com

Would I recommend this product? If you have the cash to spare then yes go for it it is a really really nice highlighting product and I’ve been using this for a year and haven’t even made a dent in it!

Review: Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Loose Powder

4 Mar

Wow… long title. Anyways… photo!

Review: Physicians Formula has developed a line of organic makeup for those who are scared or allergic to all the chemicals put in any other makeup product. My first loose powder that I purchased… I have to say when I first used it I wasn’t a happy person. First off the smell that greets you when you use this all-over your face is… how to describe it earthy? It was a really bark-like smell that really stood out. It comes in a variety of shades which is great for those who uses powder foundation but I also think that they should develop a translucent version or have a more broad-band color range (doesn’t give us Asians much to work with). The texture is quite finely milled and really doesn’t feel like you are putting powder on your face which is a nice bonus. Other than the smell of the product which you’ll get used to as it takes a while to get through one of these suckers it is a pretty good setting powder.

Cost: $19.99CDN

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product for people who want to be eco-friendly or don’t particularly care about product smells.

Review: Joe Fresh Blush in Pink

2 Mar

A review as stated above. Here is what the product looks like:

Review: So I picked up the blush because I thought it looked pretty in the pan and the packaging was so modern looking with the plastic and everything. When I first tried on this blush it was actually quite shimmery so I used a little next time and it illuminated my cheeks and overall a really nice highlight blush combination. As you can tell I have hit pan on this blush and I think that it is best to use this type of blush in the winter as it gives your skin this really nice glow. I found that it works nice in the summer as well I like to wear powder blushes in the summer just cause cream blushes tend to melt off my face due to the heat. The pigmentation isn’t that bad it isn’t overly sheer nor is it like heavy pigmentation something in between so just one or two swipes across your face will leave it with a nice pink color on your cheeks. As for the texture of the blush it is a nice powdery feel that just glides over your skin the powder is finely milled so there are no inconsistencies. Overall, I really liked this blush and would definately repurchase it.

Cost: $6.00CDN

Would you recommend this product to others? I totally would! Don’t be taken aback by the shimmers that this blush has and with just a $6CDN pricetag it is one of the cheaper and nice blushs you’ll ever try!
