Review: Physician’s Formula Happy Booster Bronzer

2 Feb

Hello everyone!

I’ve lately been liking this line from Physician’s Formula lately and I’ll be posting up the blush review later since I got the blush and bronzer in a two-pack.

Description: Infused with Happy Boost blend made with plant extracts to mimic endorphins to make you happier. The scent of violets will uplift your day and keep you in a field of happiness.

Review: I bet the packaging department was having a field day when they got the ideas for this product. It has bright pink exterior with heart designs pressed into the bronzer itself. The bronzer has a great heart design and the scent of violets is a nice touch and not too strong but I don’t think it makes me any happy using it… it’s still a nice bronzer though. I found that some of the shades were very dense but some of the other shades were not as dense. For example the pink heart is not dense and I could see an major indent the more I used the bronzer but the rest of the bronzer I found difficulty getting product out of the pan. I don’t know if the brown shades were packed in more dense but it didn’t blend as smoothly or gather a nice mix of the product. Don’t get me wrong the product is pigmented but just the way to apply this bronzer is very difficult. The shade is very muddy nice as a contour but I don’t think that this bronzer is going to work with all different types of skintones. Overall, I think the shade is a nice bronzing shade but due to the texture and the awkward mix of shades I wouldn’t recommend this.

Cost: $15-20CDN @ local drugstores

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this for those who love nice designs and cute packaging but I won’t repurchase this or recommend it based on the product itself.

Review: L’oreal Colour Riche Balm

10 Jan

Hello everyone! Another NEW drugstore product review today I really wanted to find some of the new Maybelline products (especially the Dream Bouncy blushes) but it hasn’t been released in any drugstore in my city so I guess I’ll just have to stalk the drugstores for a little bit. ^-^ Anyways, onto the balm review!

Description: An tinted lip balm that gives 8 hours of hydration to the lips. The shades I picked up were 218 Rose Elixir and 318 Heavenly Berry.

Review: I have to put a disclaimer out there DO NOT EAT THIS LIP BALM!! Seriously don’t try to lick it or anything it tastes like nasty chemicals. Ugh, I felt so sorry for my tongue while I was testing these lip balms out. As for the claims they are semi-right the lip balms are hydrating but for about 1 hour then they fade and I have to reapply. Texture is very smooth and glides easily across the lips. Pigmentation isn’t the greatest I was sort of expecting these to be similar to Revlon Lip Butters but I was wrong (duh look at the name). Overall, for the price that you are paying for this I would just recommend buying a regular lip balm that works better than this.

Cost: $6-9CDN @ various drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? For the price that you are paying I don’t think that this is worth it. Save yourself some money don’t pick this up but pick up the Revlon Lip butter they are much better than these guys by the way the review is here.

Becoming eco-friendly

23 Feb

A while back… about July 2009 I was on an eco-friendly spree… and during that time I was beginning to use makeup so most of my products were eco-friendly or claimed to be. The things that I got from that time was these things:

Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Loose Powder… the state of it now:

Sorry for the bad lighting but I hope that you can tell that I only have about 5-10 uses left on it. Almost at the way… bottom. And this product:

Ecotools Brush set + the powder brush. They have withstood the test of time… but the brush roll has not… gotta go wash it. ^_^They’re will be a review on them soon. I think I’ve used them long enough to know what they feel and how well they perform.

This is a new item that I want to add to my eco-friendly self…

This Bamboo wear compact is from Physicians Formula and I am waiting for it to hit stores so that I can pick it up. There is a rebate on this in which you can get the compact for free if you send in the rebate form. Basically the concept of this is for people to buy the powder or bronzer seperately and then put it in the compact. I have an N.Y.C. translucent powder in which the packaging is horrible so I was thinking to transfer it over to this compact once I get it. Anyone know when these compacts will make its way into Canadian drugstores?? I really want to get one. It is made of sustainable bamboo and the design looks really cute and stuff. The thing is that I know that I probably won’t like the mini brush that comes with the compact. Kudos to magnets for keeping things down and in place. But anyways, love finding new eco-friendly products… hooray!
