Review: MAC Baking Beauties

19 Apr

Hello everyone! Another collection from MAC has been released they are on a roll for so many collections releasing this year. Just week after week of collections whew it’s hard to keep up. I only picked up two items from this collection but I expect to use them both like crazy!

Description: Lavender Whip – pastel lavender shade (Cremesheen finish), Éclair Prolongwear Paint Pot – chocolate brown with shimmer

Review: Let’s start off with Lavender Whip since it is a pretty popular lipstick shade when it was released out a while ago. I have to say that it is unlike any lavender shades that I currently own in my collection. This has a tendency to lean a bit more cooler pink than a true lavender on the lips. Cremesheen finishes are one of my favourites and as usual lasting power is 2-3 hours but a touch-up is no big deal. This has the signature MAC vanilla scent that all their lipsticks have and this did not leave behind a stain on my lips nor did it migrate around. This particular lipstick shade may look a little daunting but it is an easily workable shade of lavender. It can be a full on lavender lip or sheered out for a light purple tinged lips that lean cool-pink.

As for Éclair Prolongwear Paint Pot it has a texture that I was not familiar with it was a bit hard but was still smooth and creamy to apply. After applying it on my eye it set very quickly (about a minute) so I didn’t have a lot of time to blend it out nicely but it does work nice as a base for powder eyeshadow or even by itself it works great. The shade is a boring everyday shade but I will be able to get a lot of usage out of it. Staying power is a full 8 hours without creasing which is a great feature for cream eyeshadows. Pigmentation is great as you can tell in the swatch.

Cost: $18CDN for lipstick, $22CDN for Paintpot @ maccosmetics.ca or at The Bay or free-standing stores

Would I recommend these products? I would recommend both as they are great products that are nice pastels for Spring and everyday cream eyeshadow.

Hello everyone! I’ve been shopping quite a bit lately due to the holiday season and now that I’m officially done school (for now) I want to show you guys what has accumulated lately.

So from MAC’s Glitter and Ice collection I picked up Snow Season mineralized eyeshadow and Snowglobe beauty powder.

At Walmart I needed more foot cream so I picked up the usual Freeman’s Bare Foot Cream, and some other items that came home with me was a Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake, Wet ‘n Wild nail polish in Jezebel and Sagreena the Teenage Witch, and a few more Maybelline Color Tattoos in Too Cool (white), Bold Gold, Bad to the Bronze, and Pomegrante Punk (swatches will come tomorrow hopefully).

Various places  are from online stores and Sephora. The Naked palette came from Sephora and the others came from beautycarousel.com which includes Steam Cream, Naruko serums and extra Hello Kitty face masks.

From ELF or eyeslipsface.com this was ordered while they were having their Cyber Monday sale so everything was 50% off. I picked up some brushes, lipgloss sets to give away as presents and two blushes (Merry Berry, and Blushing Rose) and a translucent powder.

Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eyeshadow

5 Dec

Hello everyone! As promised from Twitter a review on the Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream eyeshadows.

Description: Color Tattoos promise 24 hour hold with bold colors and is available in 10 shades. Colors are 02 Tenacious Teal and 10 Fierce & Tangy. Tenacious Teal is a bright teal shade with silver glitter and is very shimmery. Fierce & Tangy is a bright matte orange shade with bits of gold glitter (not very noticable).

Review: Can I just say that I love cream shadows but they crease like no tomorrow on my oily lids? I was tempted not to get these but hey 24 hour hold that’s gotta be some good stuff right? Luckily the product did what it was advertised for lasted for the usual 8 hour shift and beyond! Imagine my surprise when I say that it didn’t budge, move, or crease but by the 8 hour mark the colors were starting to fade (totally acceptable). These are similar to MAC paintpots in terms of packaging. I don’t have MAC paintpots or MakeUp ForEver Aqua Creams so I don’t know how they would compare but I’m very impressed with this product. The creams are very pigmented so a little goes a long way and I will definately be picking up the rest of the line (they had a gorgeous purple and burgandy shade). Overall, a great find from the drugstore.

Cost: $9.99 @ local drugstores and supercenters

Would I recommend this product? I totally would they do promise what they promise and I will definately be picking up more colors from this line.
