Review: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder

7 Jul

Hello everyone! A powder review today… it’s pretty good.

Review: I picked this up because I ran out of powders (again and now I have a bunch of them… I just don’t know when to stop). The shade is 001 translucent so it’s pretty translucent on my face. There is no scent and the powder works great at controlling oils and whatnot on my face I still have to blot unfortunately but not as often anymore (great!) The powder is pretty silky now since it’s pretty silky and just glides over the face nicely it’s hard to tell when to stop as is with all powders so sometimes I end up with an over powdered face (gotta learn some self controll). This also appears to cover some pores and leaves skin with a nice fresh look when used alone (not as a setting powder). What I also dislike is the packaging if I take this on a trip I’m pretty sure it’s going to be broken real quick. The trouble is the lid it has a habit of just sliding off and just freaks me out everytime I put it back in my drawer. Despite me being scared of breaking the powder because of packaging it’s a really good mattifying powder.

Cost: $4-8CDN @ drugstore and Supermarket

Would I recommend this product? I would highly recommend this for people with combination to oily skin (though if you’re really oily you’ll have to reblot but not as often as usual) and there are different shades available as well.

Review: Hard Candy Glossaholic in Gorgeous

30 May

Hello everyone! A review today I picked this up a while ago and have been using it for some time then realized I didn’t review it yet so here it is.

Review: Let me start off by saying that this gloss is bigger than the ones on the market. It contains 0.38 fl oz. while regular is around 0.17 fl oz. That’s double the size and it’s at a really great price too! If you can see in the swatch there are chunky glitters in the gloss itself that depending on the light can be a green or red flecks. It is a pretty standard pink color with the glitters that add some extra oomph to the gloss. Wear time is the same for any gloss around 2-3 hours with/without eating and drinking. I like that it’s not extremely sticky but still stays on the lips for quite some time. There is a vanilla cake batter scent but that goes away after some time. This gloss looks great on it’s own or on top of a lipstick. For the cons since this gloss is bigger than other glosses on the market the applicator can sometimes get stuck in the small hole but can be easily fixed by applying force. Overall a great gloss for a good price.

Cost: $4.79CDN @ Walmart

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product  for those who love glitter in their glosses or for those looking for a basic color with some pop but I won’t be purchasing anymore as chunks of glitter isn’t my cup of tea.

Review: theBalm Bahama Mama Bronzer

8 Mar

Hello everyone! I have picked up this bronzer lately and since I’m not really a bronzer person I mainly use this as a contour or sometimes a blush.

Review: I’m not a cheek product type of girl and probably won’t get into it any time soon but I got this as a gift with purchase. This is actually a really nice natural looking bronzer and it gives a nice sun-kissed look to my skin. The color is matte, no shimmer and isn’t orange like some other bronzers on the market. It is very pigmented, smooth powder with a soft brown undertone and is also great for contouring (especially in the winter months where I’m paler than my usual skintone) but put on too much it can look a little muddy on the skin. Packaging is flimsy cardboard and it makes it easy to dirty the packaging with the bronzer and it isn’t travel friendly I feel as if the powder will break if I take it travelling.

Cost: $26CDN @ Rexall pharmacies or $19USD

Would I recommend this product? I would recommend this product for those looking for a natural looking bronzer but this will not work for those with darker skin tones (might not show up).

First Major Purchase of the Year

5 Jan

Hello everyone! Today was the day I bought my textbooks and I also bought some other stuff. I won’t show my textbooks because I don’t think that I have all the ones that I need. So here are the things that I bought:

Samples size perfums courtesy of Walmart original retail price as you can tell is $29CDN but I got it for $7CDN each. CRAZY!!

Retail Cost – $65USD I got it for $40CDN (Yeah!)

Writing books (they remind me of Japanese paper bound books) $1CDN each, Nose Pore Strips – $5CDN, Joe Fresh Eyeshadow in Pale Pink for $2 ($2 coupon how could I not resist picking up a backup of my favourite color?)

*Note: They were all on sale or things I really need (thus the justification) and I bought everything with my own money.

Holiday Collection: Joe Fresh

14 Nov

Hello everyone! So today’s post is going to be about Joe Fresh’s Holiday cosmetics collection and well to be honest I haven’t looked at the items yet but they are available on the website.

First up is the palette, it is very similar to the Fall Five Minute Palette with the same concepts but shades are different.

The shades in this one is Silk, Silver, Black, and Carbon (eyeshadows), Ruby lipgloss and lipstick, and Pale Peach Blush and Glow (Bronzer). I probably won’t pick up this palette as I already have many but it would be a great gift idea for those stocking stuffers. It still retails for $20CDN as the previous palette.

Next up is the Fresh Glass Lip gloss set. You get a set of 5 glosses in three different tones (warm, cool, or neutral) for $10CDN. Please note that these are miniature versions compared to the regular Fresh Glass Lip Glosses.

And the last thing that is going to be new for the Holiday season is Nail Polish sets. You get three nail polish (full size) for $10CDN in limited edition colors.

Shown here are Imperial (shimmering purple), Dupioni (shimmering white), and Midas (gold). The other shades are Steel (grey), Onyx (darker grey), Beet (purple), Sweet Tart (bright pink), Wine (dark red), and Cherry (red). Both Wine and Cherry are from the original line so they’ll be around for a while.

Did I mention that these would be great as stocking stuffers?
