Skincare Routine: September 2013

30 Sep

Hello everyone! I have a skincare post that I have been meaning to do for the past little while. As you know I went on Accutane and since that experience is over and done with I’ve been meaning to show you what sort of products that I use to help me get rid of the scars leftover. Well here are the products that I use on a daily basis and would recommend to anyone who is looking for some great basic skincare products. Since I change out a lot of my products I plan on doing another one in a few months time.

Makeup Removers – MAC Cleanse off Oil (not shown) – This was a new addition when I started using makeup daily but I have always been a firm believer in removing makeup before actually cleansing the skin. I like this product but I’m not really loyal to any cleansing oils so it changes every time I finish a bottle.
Neutrogena Dual Phased Eye Makeup Remover – I love dual-layer eye makeup removers and Neutrogena makes one of my favorites but since discovering the Maybelline Clean Express version I don’t really want to purchase the Neutrogena anymore because of price points. But putting price points aside this sort of products is what I will continue to repurchase.

Cleanser: Spectro Gel for Blemish-prone skin – Definitely one of my favorites to use the gel formulation is wonderful and gentle on my skin. I’ve been using this cleanser for about 5 years now and it’s always a staple in my skincare routine.

Serum: Naruko Raw Job’s Tear Whitening Serum – I have been using Naruko serums on and off for the last 3 years and they make my favorite serums. The texture of these are wonderful and absorb well into the skin I always have one on hand because they are just that awesome!

Moisturizer: Bare Minerals Purely Nourishing Moisturizer for Combination Skin – When I was on Accutane I actually used the Dry skin version of this moisturizer and really like it but I’m not really a big fan of this one. The earthy soil like fragrance really gets to me everytime I use it so when this is done I won’t be repurchasing.
Naruko Raw Job’s Tear Night Gelly – This is technically a night cream for me but in gel format which is really cool and it’s really cooling at night as well. I do notice my skin looks a little brighter when I use this but the effect doesn’t last so in the morning I look not so bright.

Eye Cream: Kiehl’s Creamy Eye treatment with Avocado – This has replaced my usual favorite Clinique All About Eyes Rich and it is a bit cheaper considering the amounts that I get in a little jar. I really like the way this feels on my eye area and despite it’s $56CDN price tag I am willing to repurchase it when I run out.

Sunscreen: Biore SPF 50+ Sunscreen – I have to say that I exclusively purchase Asian sunscreens because they last longer, don’t have that weird sunscreen scent, better packaging, and better textures. But out of all the Asian sunscreens that I have tried Biore is one of my favorites and I have purchased many of their products. SPF is important even in the winter!

Extra: Origins Super Spot Remover – One of my favorite spot treatments it’s so satisfying to see that a large zit has been reduced to almost nothing the next day!
Rocky Mountain Soap Company Cherry Lip Butter – This has always been a staple in my skincare I use it at night to ensure that my lips aren’t chapped in the morning. I keep going back to this because this product is just that awesome!
Systane Eye Drops – I usually use the lubricant kind but couldn’t find it so this version is what I have been using. When I was on Accutane my eye doctor was like “OMG your eyes are as dry as the Sahara desert!” and then proceeded to recommend me these brand’s drops and it is really good. I really like them and even though I’m not on Accutane anymore it really like the way it feels and this has stuck in my routine since.

Well that was everything I hope that you enjoyed this post and since it’s the end of the month there are some more update posts on the way.

More Goodies

23 Dec

Hello everyone! More goodies today. I went to Lush yesterday and thought that I would show you what I got from there. I used to be a LUSH junkie but stopped because it got a bit expensive… kinda how my obsession with Bath & Body Works is waning right now… Anyways, I also go my order from Geek Chic Cosmetics in and reviews+swatches will be coming in the next few days.

From Geek Chic Cosmetics:

Eyeshadows from left to right are Don’t Blink (Timey Wimey/Doctor Who), Newb (Single Player), Ambassador (Big Damn Heroes/Firefly that didn’t happen).

And Lush goodies!

This includes an Each Peach massage bar, Mask of Magniminty, Angel’s Delight soap, 9 to 5 cleanser, small Tea Tree toner, and some toner tabs (which include Dream Steam, Token to the Gods x4, Vitamin C, Tea Tree x2, and Moon&Sun).

I can’t wait to start using these products and testing them out.

Review: Aveeno Positively Radiant Make up Removing Cleanser

26 Apr

Hello everyone! Another review if you remember I did review the Positively Radiant moisturizer (which I didn’t like) but I did try another product from this line and I do have good things to say to it.

Review: I have to say that even though I didn’t like the moisterizer from this line I actually like the cleanser. It foams up nicely and feels like you are rubbing your face with a pillow when apply it. Cleanse off and it doesn’t leave the skin feeling extremely tight (bad sign means that your skin just got sucked dry and thus produce more oil to compensate). Now for the claims of it removing makeup I think it did an okay job I still have to go over my face with an extra makeup remover (especially eye makeup) but it does a pretty decent job. For radiant skin none of that but it’s okay as cleanser doesn’t stay on the skin too long to get any benefits. Packaging made it easy to use and allowed for a good amount to be pumped out I used about 2-3 pumps day and night. This jug lasted for quite some time (usually finish about 2-3 months) this lasted about 4 months.

Cost: $11.99CDN @ any drugstore or Supermarket chains

Would I recommend this product? Overall, I would definately recommend this cleanser as an everyday cleanser for those who like foamy-ness in their products and those who don’t wear a lot of heavy duty makeup.

Skincare Overload?!

12 Aug

How many skincare products do I have to try before I am happy? The answer is A LOT… this is what I have picked up skincare wise in the past month alone.

So I am in the process of testing them all out one at a time… how I test is that I finish all the products that I buy myself even if it breaks out my skin or if it makes me skin drying or whatever I will use that thing until it is done. All this testing is going to take a really really long time… I don’t know if I should even do reviews on them… but yeah, just wanted to share how obsessed I am with skincare products.

Skincare Update

24 Apr

So as you can tell from my postage yesterday you can totally tell that I don’t have the perfect flawless skin that I want due to exams… >.<

The plan to to make this one a long post. I don’t have my camera anymore due to my sister stealing it and going for a joyride in Vancouver (curse band kids who get to go play). The skincare routine that I am using now is:

There seems to be alot there isn’t there? Yeah, just because I have found many things that work for me I want to use it all!

So let’s talk about the products there will be reviews later but just a general overview of them all.

Cleanser – Boots Botanics Brightening Cream Cleanser

Toner – Boots Botanics Brightening Toner

Moisterizer – Shiseido Oil-Free Mattifying Moisterizer

Treatment – Oxy 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, Viaderm-K.C. used as disinfectant, Bio-oil for scars

This skincare takes me about 7-10 minutes to do every morning depending if I’m going really fast or not. The time has upped since the last skincare one… >.< but these work really well!

Putting aside the skincare regime I want to focus on the Treatment aspect of my routine. As you can see I have 3 different types of stuff compared to last time where I just had Lush’s Grease Lightning as a spot treatment and disinfectant.

Since the Grease Lightning review I’ve used it up and moved onto find something new resulting in Oxy and Viaderm. Now Viaderm is only available through your pharmacist and what is does is that it treats rashes that have been infected with either bacteria or fungi. I know what you’re thinking rash treatment on acne? No way is that going to work. Well to be honest with you I was sceptical at first but it has helped out with the amount of breakout moments that I have. Now I have a clear forehead to the point where it absolutely scares me.

My sister likes to use Oxy on her acne and it’s been working pretty well for her. And as for the Bio-oil I’ve still got like 2 months and 3 weeks left to see if it actually works or not.

Whew, long post… thanks for those who actually read through all of it.

Review: Shiseido Pureness 3-step System

22 Apr

Woohoo, finally a review on these products. The photo of the used products… heh…

Review: A little backdrop in the Shiseido Pureness line, this skincare line is meant for those who have oily and acne-prone skin. I basically fit in that description so I thought that I would try out this starter set before actually buying the full sizes. What is included in this little set is the deep cleansing foam, balancing softener (a.k.a. toner), and the mattifying moisterizer. When I first started using these products I totally saw a difference in my skin, the pores looked smaller, my face was actually mattified, and it felt like the skin was rebalancing and recoverying from using acne cleansers. Things that I disliked was that it made my skin feel really really dry afterwards and the mattifying moisterizer did not have enough moisture or so I felt. Though after I stopped using the cleanser it didn’t feel so dry. The products did really mattify my skin and is great for those who have pretty oily skin but just having one or two of the three products doesn’t do much for your skin. The only thing that I thought was worth it’s money was the mattifying moisterizer which I bought a full size of which was about the same price as the set that I bought. Overall, I think the products are good but I don’t agree with the price tag that goes along with them.

Cost: $40.00 CDN on sale @ Shiseido counter [hooray for January sales]

Would I recommend these products? For those with oily skin yes but I would only recommend the toner and moisterizer. The deep cleansing foam I thought to be too harsh with the exfoliation beads in it and everything.
