Review: True Blue Spa Pumpkin Renewing Face Mask

23 Dec

Hello everyone! A True Blue Spa product review today. I got a bunch of these as my sister works at Bath and Body Works but I don’t get her employee discount I only get upcoming deals (lol). So these were all again bought with my own money. True Blue Spa items usually has a Buy 2 Get 1 Free  deal so I took advantage of that.

Description: A renewing face mask to help your skin look it’s best promising supple, smoother skin as well as a polished complexion.

Review: I love the scent of this product. It smells just like pumpkin pie with a sweetness to it. It just smells absolutely awesome. It is a creamy texture and spread easily over the skin. The effects of the mask isn’t much… it wasn’t what I was expecting it to be. I am young so I wasn’t expecting much from the supple area but for polished complexion not much. It isn’t much of an exfoliating mask even though pumpkins have enzymes that can help exfoliate the skin. I do notice the smoother skin though I’m still debating if it’s me washing off the mask or the mask effect itself. The packaging is nice as well it has a spill cap (I think that’s what it’s called) to prevent it from being leaked or contaminated by air bacteria. Overall, a mask with a really good scent and I’m very glad that I have a back up of this even if I use it just for the scent.

Cost: $13.00CDN @ Bath and Body Works

Would I recommend this product? Yes! I already have a back up at the bottom of my mask drawer so pick it up if you can.

Holiday Season

27 Oct

Hello everyone! So the holiday season is just around the corner! I can’t believe that Christmas is just around the corner. The holiday season is one of my favourite seasons seeing all the people get into bright happy spirits and everything just seems so sparkly and happy! So in celebration of the beginning of winter Mother Nature decided to reward us Canadians with the first snow fall of the year.

Beauty Intro: Annabelle Cosmetics

26 Apr

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Beauty Intro category so today’s company is Annabelle Cosmetics.

From their website:

” A bit of a rebel, a natural trend-setter, edgy and incredibly versatile. Annabelle is the one with the latest and trendiest shades that make us want to rush out and get the look. Colour is her instrument of change, letting her reinvent her style and makeup to suit her ever-changing moods, from goddess to rock star to fashion diva! She is daring and bold and demands the same from her makeup brand, a perfect combination of glamour and efficiency.

Driven by its passion for fashion-forward looks, Annabelle Cosmetics collaborates with internationally renowned makeup artist Julie Bégin. She has worked for influential and trend-setting magazines such as W and Vogue, and stars such as Madonna and Alanis Morissette. She now contributes to the brand through her expertise and talent and injects her own special modern perspective. Incredibly versatile, she is just as comfortable lending her artistic talents to creating a highly colourful or dramatic face as she is applying the newest trends or the most glamorous and sophisticated looks. She is passionate about her freedom for expression, which she instils to the Annabelle product range.

Since 1999, Annabelle Cosmetics has been part of the Groupe Marcelle, the Canadian leader in drugstore brand cosmetics with some 2,000 points of sale across the country. ”

Sounds like a great company right? Sorry for those who live outside Canada but they only sell their products in Canada.

Some of their products that I personally love are the concealer quad, custom quads, blushes, and all their eyeliners.

Review: Rocky Mountain Soap Company – Green Apple Lip Butter

18 Mar

I question why I review products with either long company names or long product names themselves…. everything is slowly becoming routine for these review. ^_^

Anyways, the picture:

Review: Rocky Mountain Soap Company is a 100% Canadian and Natural Company. They have many items all which are natural they are like the cheaper version of LUSH. ^_^I really like the store when I walk in it’s so homely and really does feel like nature has come out to greet you. Now this specific product has many different flavors; green apple, apricot, berry, coconut, peppermint, and summer lemonade. I personally like green apple but the other flavors smell really nice… except coconut because I’m allergic to coconuts. But putting my allergies aside this is a really nice lip butter. I use this at night to really moisterize my lips and in the morning any cracks or dry spots are gone by the next day. The reason why I don’t use this during the day is that it doesn’t have SPF which is ok I don’t mind but being a lip butter, this and Canadianweather don’t go so well together. You can get this product online as well as in stores but since Rocky Mountain Soap company is pretty small there aren’t that many stores but if you do want to visit a store you can check out their website for that information.

Cost: $3.99CDN

Would I recommend this product? I totally would recommend this product! This lip butter is going to be still one of my favourites 20 years down the road.

Beauty Intro: Joe Fresh Beauty

26 Feb

This is going to be another branch in the beauty section of my blog. Beauty intros are introductions to a companies products that I would like to try and I will also post other peoples thoughts on them. Most of peoples thoughts will come from MakeupAlley. Companies that I will review will most likely be from drugstore companies and maybe some higher end brands such as MAC or Shu Uemura.

So Joe Fresh beauty… not much is known about it as it is a specifically a Canadian drugstore brand that is only found at Loblaws or Superstores across the nation.

They have a wide range of products and all the products are under $10CDN. Some of the most listed or wanted products include cheek tint, tinted lip balm, felt tip liner, cream lipsticks, and eyeshadow.

The products that really stick out for me are:

Cheek tint in Nude, Peach, Pink, Cherry, Berry and Bronze. $4CDN

Blushes in pink (review coming up), pale peach, plum, berry, and rose. $6CDN

Fine Liquid eyeliner in black or brown. $6CDN

Lip stain in sheer pink, candy, peach, apple, watermelon, and cinnamon. $6CDN

Cream lipstick in many different colors. The colors that I want to try are strawberry, watermelon, and coral. $6CDN

If you want you can check out all the products and shades at http://www.joe.ca/en/bath_beauty/.

Review: Ecotools Makeup Brushes

25 Feb

A review on Ecotools Makeup Brushes. So here are the brushes that I have from Ecotools and I have been using them since I got them in July… so it’s been about 8 months. Photo of them.

I have the 6 piece set and the powder brush. The 6 piece set includes a blush brush, concealer brush, slanted eyeliner/brow brush, all over shadow brush, brow/eyelash comb brush and the brush roll made of hemp. These brushes can be purchased at Superstore, Walmart, and London drugs. I believe that they are cheaper at London drugs than at Superstore or Walmart but you can look at those places and decide on which ever place you want to buy them from.

Review: When I first bought these brushes I thought that they would be scratchy and stuff but the bristles were really really soft for each and everyone of the brushes. Even the brush roll amazed me at how soft it was despite the fact that it was hemp. Each of the brushes are extremely soft and they feel really nice on the skin.

Now onto each brushes purpose, the powder brush is for your translucent powder but I find that it is quite fluffy compared to other brushes and due to its fluffiness it doesn’t pick up and distribute powder evenly over my face. I still use it as I really like the feeling of it compared to other brushes that I have tried and returned.

The blush brush is pretty dense and really does distribute blush evenly and is soft to boot! Picking up color on this brush is easy as one swipe across your product. A great powder blush brush.

The concealer brush is a wide multicolored brush and since I wear concealer most of the time I usually use this brush so it might seem like its worn out. It is a perfect width across as I can swipe this brush anywhere on my face and still be able to blend in my concealer really well. I really liked this brush as it worked for lots of different areas on my face.

The angled brush which can be used for eyeliner or brows. I use this brush to line my eyes and to me it is the least softest of the brushes. It was quite harsh and really hurt my eyes while I was lining my eyes. But it works nicely as a brow powder brush.

The all over shadow brush picks up a lot of product and is dense but where it lacks is that it doesn’t distribute the product evenly over my lids. Overall a nice and soft brush though.

The brow/eyelash comb brush is average as is any other brow/eyelash comb on the market.

Cost: Powder Brush – $8.49CDN, 6-piece set – $17.99CDN

Would I recommend these products? I would totally recommend these brushes to others who are starting off with makeup or want to be eco-friendly to the environment. They are so soft, great brushes, and are relatively cheaper than most other drugstore brushes (other drugstore brush brands include Annabelle, Joe Fresh, Quo, etc.).

Becoming eco-friendly

23 Feb

A while back… about July 2009 I was on an eco-friendly spree… and during that time I was beginning to use makeup so most of my products were eco-friendly or claimed to be. The things that I got from that time was these things:

Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Loose Powder… the state of it now:

Sorry for the bad lighting but I hope that you can tell that I only have about 5-10 uses left on it. Almost at the way… bottom. And this product:

Ecotools Brush set + the powder brush. They have withstood the test of time… but the brush roll has not… gotta go wash it. ^_^They’re will be a review on them soon. I think I’ve used them long enough to know what they feel and how well they perform.

This is a new item that I want to add to my eco-friendly self…

This Bamboo wear compact is from Physicians Formula and I am waiting for it to hit stores so that I can pick it up. There is a rebate on this in which you can get the compact for free if you send in the rebate form. Basically the concept of this is for people to buy the powder or bronzer seperately and then put it in the compact. I have an N.Y.C. translucent powder in which the packaging is horrible so I was thinking to transfer it over to this compact once I get it. Anyone know when these compacts will make its way into Canadian drugstores?? I really want to get one. It is made of sustainable bamboo and the design looks really cute and stuff. The thing is that I know that I probably won’t like the mini brush that comes with the compact. Kudos to magnets for keeping things down and in place. But anyways, love finding new eco-friendly products… hooray!
