Beauty Intro: Annabelle Cosmetics

26 Apr

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Beauty Intro category so today’s company is Annabelle Cosmetics.

From their website:

” A bit of a rebel, a natural trend-setter, edgy and incredibly versatile. Annabelle is the one with the latest and trendiest shades that make us want to rush out and get the look. Colour is her instrument of change, letting her reinvent her style and makeup to suit her ever-changing moods, from goddess to rock star to fashion diva! She is daring and bold and demands the same from her makeup brand, a perfect combination of glamour and efficiency.

Driven by its passion for fashion-forward looks, Annabelle Cosmetics collaborates with internationally renowned makeup artist Julie Bégin. She has worked for influential and trend-setting magazines such as W and Vogue, and stars such as Madonna and Alanis Morissette. She now contributes to the brand through her expertise and talent and injects her own special modern perspective. Incredibly versatile, she is just as comfortable lending her artistic talents to creating a highly colourful or dramatic face as she is applying the newest trends or the most glamorous and sophisticated looks. She is passionate about her freedom for expression, which she instils to the Annabelle product range.

Since 1999, Annabelle Cosmetics has been part of the Groupe Marcelle, the Canadian leader in drugstore brand cosmetics with some 2,000 points of sale across the country. ”

Sounds like a great company right? Sorry for those who live outside Canada but they only sell their products in Canada.

Some of their products that I personally love are the concealer quad, custom quads, blushes, and all their eyeliners.

Space

10 Apr

We have a lot of space here in Canada and it’s all great but while I was teaching our morning karate class today all the kids were clumped together. Here’s an analogy us teachers like to use:

Cheerios in a Bowl!! or:

Sardines in a can!!

Hooray for analogies… anyways, just wanted to know what do you guys think about the personal space that you get??

I love my space but I can also live with being squished together like they do in Asia.

On the Look out: Mar 28, 2010

21 Mar

So this is a product look out that I’m putting up. I’m planning to get this and it is…..

The NEW Nintendo DSi XL!

This is the UK versions… comes in the described as burgandy, white, and bronze. Currently the bronze and burgandy are available in America.

This is a future planning purchase because I have an original DS Lite which still works great and has a bunch of scratch marks from the stylus (going to replace that screen soon though). I don’t like the color selection so I’m going to wait until they come out with some other colors and then I’ll go and get it.

BTW, coming out Mar 28, 2010 in Canada and retails for $199.99CDN.

Posting ideas

And it’s another Monday… sigh… still gotta prepare for my Chemistry Midterm on Fri. So for the next little while it just might be scheduled posts so that I don’t have to visit site very often to update and such.

I’ve been bouncing around ideas and was wondering

But something that has caught my eye yet again is…

And it sure is real…. or is it?

Anyways congratulations to all the Olympic atheletes who participated in the Games and made Canada proud! 14 Gold medals with a total of 26 medals! So proud of our atheletes!

P.S. The mascots bid you all farewell and hoped that you had a great time in Canada as they did.

Concept of Beauty – Body Image

17 Feb

How does one define beauty? What does it mean to be beautiful? Is it clear skin? Piercing eyes? A nice jawline? Good proportioned face? A skinny body? A toned body? What about in different cultures? What does beauty mean to them?

In this post I am going to be bouncing back and forth between Asian ideals and Western ideals comparing similarities and differences. And it is specific to body image in each cultures.

Let’s compare an Asian model to a Western model.

  vs.

The models have a similar type of body… the skinny kind that designers really love mainly to save money.

For those who don’t know it is preferable for models to be size 0 because it saves the designer money on the fabrics.

The progression of sizes…

<  <  From stick skinny to toned body to slightly chubby.

As seen in Asia it is more preferable to have a skinny body or a toned body. A good comparison

 vs.

I get the feeling that asian girls tend to be more skinny but I believe that in both the West and the East girls care about their body image equally.

So either way I’d thought that I would share that with everyone because girls do have a negative body image of themselves due to societies views and peer pressure.

I want to spread the word that you are beautiful no matter what you look like or even if you have flaws. Spread love not hate!
