#2

27 May

Hello everyone! So I have finished the #2 item on my 20 things before 20 list which was to read Watchmen.

It was such an intense book I had to split up my time to read it. A very heavy read with lots of different commentaries on human conditions and such. I would totally recommend this book for those who are beginning to understand the world around them bit by bit. This book is going to be a nice addition to my bookshelf.

20 things before 20

18 May

Hello everyone! So I have a 20 things before 20 list which is a list I compiled of 20 things to do before I turn 20 this September (19 to be specific). I have some time before my birthday so this list is to help me go through things that I would never do if I didn’t have a timeline. So here is my list:

1. Finish my embroidery project.

2. Read Watchmen.

3. Buy an iPad 2… enough said

4. Go to Animethon 18 which is on Aug 5-7 this year. I will be planning to go for only one day I don’t think I can get off work that easily.

5. Finish Wa-loli Kuro outfit. I started this project 3 years ago and have never finished it better late then never right?

6. Obtain a mushroom farm… kinda like this:

7. Pay mum & dad $100 from my first paycheck as well as my brother $100 (cuz I owe him for all the lunches he’s treated me to) and for my little sister $40 (she complains that she doesn’t have money all the time). Hopefully this one will be soon. ^-^

8. Get a library card… since I’m an adult I have to go get my own library card but I’ve just been lazy to go get one… I will get one though.

9. Start Youtube videos… something I’ve been wanting to do since last year but never had courage or time to make videos and put it up. I will do it for sure!!

10. Determine birthday present wishlist. I know that the iPad is on this list for a reason…

11. Determine 2 year financial plan. Since I plan to go to Japan in the upcoming 2 years I have to plan to make sure that I have enough money while travelling and such. Thus this plan… it’s going to take a lot of brain power that’s why I keep putting it aside.

12. Stay a neat freak… yeah this photo really shows how much I need to stay a neat freak.

13. Continue to study Japanese and Chinese. This one I won’t be doing anytime soon until school starts in September. I will be attending a Sat language class in Sept.

14. Try out a different martial arts even if it’s just one class I would like to try something different. Perhaps kung fu?

15. Attemp yoga/pilates. I would really like to try this but I don’t have much money to spend it on a class (financial plan) so I will learn from a book/video from the library (need library card) or Youtube is a great resource as well.

16. Try food from Sbarro, Thai Express, and Taco Bell. I just want to get out of my usual going to McDonalds or Subway to eat. I never try different foods so here are three places great to try out my taste palette.

17. Go to a spa. I have never gone to a beauty salon so I would really like to go to one. Perhaps from Eveline Charles.

18. Go on a staycation. I am planning with my brother and sister that we should go to the car museum in Wetaskiwin and possibly the Aviation museum in Alberta. But other things for a staycation is attending Capital X (summer amusement park) and Heritage festival (showcasing different cultures from different countries) as well as Animethon of course.

19. Play Spyro: Ripto’s Rage (PS) and finish Pokemon SoulSilver (DS). I have not finished these games and would really like to for sure.

20. Attempt to make curry flavoured popcorn. I heard about the elusive curry flavoured popcorn and since there is not a big chance to come across curry flavoured popcorn I might as well make it myself.

I will be updating every time I finish an item on the list and there is no set order to complete the list as long as the list is completely finished before I turn 20.

Japanese Cakes

1 Apr

Hello everyone! I just borrowed a book from the library and it was on Japanese cakes. I love cakes and the Japanese way of making them are really really delicious. The book itself is all in Japanese so I will have to whip out my translating skills to read it. I will update on recipes and photos of when I make the items that I really like. For now I’ll leave a photo of the book cover.

Recommended Read

28 Aug

Hello everyone! Today I have a book posting.

I have just finished reading this book and it really was insightful to me at least. I’m a very empathetic person so I can relate a lot especially to the stronger emotions of pain, sadness, loneliness, and depression. What really struck me about this book was the spirituality portion of it all. I grew up in a Buddhist family but I don’t practice the religion and just reading the way to spiritual enlightment really struck a chord with me. Mantras are something I know really well but I never understood the application of praying to deities.

This book makes me want to explore those three options in my life (and the world travel of course); the indulgent, spirituality and balance. A new challenge perhaps?

Reaching You…

7 May

One of my favourite mangas that I am reading right now… put on geek mode and for those who aren’t interested in manga I suggest that you wait until the next post. ^_^

The title of the manga is called Kimi ni Todoke or Reaching You.

The main characters:

This story is very stereotypical of the protagonist being a gloomy dark kind of girl who has no friends and is often misunderstood. A guy likes her and is always trying to look out for her and due to her interaction with him she befriends other people and eventually the storyline will lead us the the guy and girl confessing and dating from their.

What makes this type of story stand out from the rest is the character development of the characters in this manga. Karuho Shiina (the mangaka/artist+author) makes the characters very endearing, there is no dark side (or so it isn’t revealed yet) and there is always a pure innocent air throughout the manga. Even though there are some “bad/negative” characters they are portrayed as also human (which I think is great).

What lead me to continue reading the story is because the characters very much appeal and peak my interest in how the storyline is going to continue.

I would really recommend people to read this because it is really one of those unique endearing mangas that do have a lot of substance if you look past the obvious plot.

Future Plans

30 Nov

Hello!

So this is just an update for my future reference.
After my exams are done which is Dec 14 I am planning to make a bunch of videos and post them up on Youtube and other things as well. Some of the videos that I hope to make are How to make your own tinted moisterizer, contouring, makeup looks, cheap holiday gift-wrapping ideas and maybe more but I want to update this blog everyday. As I can’t update my physical book everyday maybe I’ll post up photos of the physical book online as well.

As for the blog I will be able to write in more everytime and maybe one time there will be an essay. ^_^ Things that I plan to do over the winter break is updating my book and blog for sure everyday if I can, reading the samurai traditions textbook and preparing a pop culture and samurai traditions lecture for the upcoming new year, cleaning my room (that will take a day for sure), preparing for my new courses for the winter, finish sewing up the pencil cases that have been waiting since the summer. There will be a lot of sewing for sure, I have to finish everything or else I won’t get it done.

Later, there will be an update on how my day went and maybe a photo or two. I’m glad that I’ve stolen my dad’s Sony camera… maybe when I have a part-time job in the summer I’ll get one.

So that is it on the future plans… doing my best for the finals!!
