Review: Annabelle Smoothliners

1 Mar

Hello everyone! A Canadian brand review today it always makes me excited to see drugstore Canadian companies on my blog.

Description: Long-lasting waterproof eyeliner with rich pigmentation and a super awesome formula. The shades are Black (basic black), Brownie (basic brown), Meteorite (navy blue), and Jade (dark green).

Review: First off, I just want to say that my eyes are extremely oily even waterproof/longlasting eyeliners have difficulty staying on my eyes. So I tested this using primer and without primer for a full 8 hour work day. Let’s just say that without primer it smudged by the 6th hour (hey that’s pretty long-lasting right?) and with primer lasted the full 8 hours. Hooray it lasts throughout the day! The claims of waterproof is true but only if you don’t rub your eye you won’t end up like a panda if you do hello there panda. All the shades I picked up were very very pigmented and the texture is just so smooth. They all glided on like butter across nice warm corn on the cob. Unfortunately, Annabelle is only available in Canada so those overseas will have no choice but to make friends with Canadians, travel here or search on E(vil)Bay. Overall, I really really love these liners and if you are ever in Canada feel free to pick them up!

Cost: $6-8CDN @ local drugstores and supermarkets

Would I recommend this product? These eyeliners are great for everyday and the texture is to die for! Those overseas feel free to make friends with a Canadian or travel here yourself.

Review: E.L.F. 32 Eyeshadow Palette – Warm

20 Dec

Hello everyone! Just got this palette from Winners and since I finished practicing some accounting I thought I ought to swatch and review for you guys.

Description: A 32 color palette with tantilizing warm shades. It also comes in a cool tone palette with brighter and cooler shades.

Review: First off I just want to say that I’ve been lately getting into palettes due to the fact that it’s a little easier to fiddle with one big thing rather than 10 smaller items.
This palette is a great everyday shade palette as you can tell from the swatches and palette photos there is a mixture of mattes, shimmers, and only 2 glitters in this palette. I really like the shades as they are warm but the colors are very wearable. The colors in general glide on smoothly and blend easily.
Pigmentation for the lighter shades is not as strong as the darker shades but the darker shades in the bottom right corner do not have good color payoff. I don’t know if it’s because of the formula but it’s not the most pigmented colors. The darkers shades were a bit harder than the lighter shades which was easier to dip a brush in and pick up color.
Overall, I think this is a great everyday palette and the packaging is quite classy looking as well.

Cost: $5.99 @ Winners or $5.00USD online at eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I really would it’s a great palette to use and the shades are pretty good it’s great from beginner’s makeup. This palette works great as a gift as suggested with the glittery box and I plan to purchase a few more for my friends.

Beauty Intro: Joe Fresh Beauty

26 Feb

This is going to be another branch in the beauty section of my blog. Beauty intros are introductions to a companies products that I would like to try and I will also post other peoples thoughts on them. Most of peoples thoughts will come from MakeupAlley. Companies that I will review will most likely be from drugstore companies and maybe some higher end brands such as MAC or Shu Uemura.

So Joe Fresh beauty… not much is known about it as it is a specifically a Canadian drugstore brand that is only found at Loblaws or Superstores across the nation.

They have a wide range of products and all the products are under $10CDN. Some of the most listed or wanted products include cheek tint, tinted lip balm, felt tip liner, cream lipsticks, and eyeshadow.

The products that really stick out for me are:

Cheek tint in Nude, Peach, Pink, Cherry, Berry and Bronze. $4CDN

Blushes in pink (review coming up), pale peach, plum, berry, and rose. $6CDN

Fine Liquid eyeliner in black or brown. $6CDN

Lip stain in sheer pink, candy, peach, apple, watermelon, and cinnamon. $6CDN

Cream lipstick in many different colors. The colors that I want to try are strawberry, watermelon, and coral. $6CDN

If you want you can check out all the products and shades at http://www.joe.ca/en/bath_beauty/.

Enjoy!

Deals of the Week

22 Feb

Here are some of the deals of the week and these are the items that I picked up. I probably won’t have many of these posts as it does seem to be a bragging post that and the only things that I buy all the time is food. ^_^ So for those who live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada these deals are going to be held until this Friday which is Feb 26 and they are pretty good deals.

First up, I gotta mention the stores that I went to. The first place was Lemon Tree to get myself something you’ll see it later… then it was Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, and then Superstore.

The items:

The brushes are from Quo which is Shoppers Drug Mart makeup brushes… they even have their own line of makeup too! But anyways, those brushes were 40% off. So in total they were… let’s see… about $33CDN. If I bought it full priced it would have been $46CDN. Yeah… saved a lot of money.

From Rexall which is a chain of drugstores owned by Darrel Katz, also known as pharmaprix in some other Canadian places but what I actually got from there is the pressed powder which is N.Y.C. Translucent powder and the Maybelline Quad in Chai Latte. They were both 20% off and the total came to under $10. It wasn’t that much so compared to Shoppers I only saved about $3.

The last place that I went to is Superstore and they had a deal on Covergirl mascaras… not all of their mascaras but the professional and the exact collection. That and some crackers… hooray triscuits! They were 2 for $9.00 so I saved a lot there. Yippee! I’m excited to try them out. Both are in Blackest Black as my eyelashes are really… well being asian black.

So the special item that I got was this:

This doll is a Momiji Doll. A pretty doll. Just for me. Her name is Rainbow she likes shopping, fashion, and long division. Just like me! There is only one place in Edmonton that sells these doll, I would very much like to get some more. Of course, ones that speak my personality. ^_^

Well, that will be it for today…. sorry for double posting.
