Review: ELF Matte Lip Color

22 Dec

Hello everyone! This is the last of the ELF review marathon. Whew I apologize for the sheer amount of posts today but hey I’d rather be blogging than working or helping my mom bake.

Description: A lip crayon with a matte finish. Shades are Tea Rose (mauvey pink) and Praline (dark brown based pink).

Review: I didn’t get to take a picture but there is quite a bit of product in the tubes itself. The shades are based on the opposite spectrum. Tea Rose is a cool tone lipstick (which is why it looks awkward on me) and Praline is a warm brown based lip color (those work best with me). The texture is not smooth as expected with matte lipsticks they tend not to be smooth while applied to the lips. With a matte finish it does have a tendency to emphasize dry lips or flaky lips so I recommend you exfoliate and moisturize before putting on this lipstick. The lipstick is very pigmented and packaging is a nice crayon format which makes it easy to apply to the lips and you can line your lips at the same time. It has a twist up design which stores a lot of product. Overall, it is a matte lipstick which acts like a matte lipstick but does have pretty good pigmentation.

Cost: $3USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I find that the shades themselves are not really flattering and matte shades are very hard to pull off due to the texture and finish but I do like the product itself. I don’t know if I would recommend these to others or not so I’ll just leave this section as an ‘buy if you are curious’ or buy if you love matte lipsticks.

Review: ELF Blush and Bronzing Duo

22 Dec

Hello everyone! Man, I am so sorry for all these posts. It’s a bit crazy at my house so posting these will put some pressure off me and keep me occupied for some time.

Description: A blush and bronzer duo similar to the NARS duo in Orgasm and Laguna. The blush is a light pink shade with gold glitters, and the bronzer is a dark brown with gold glitters (luckily not too noticeable).

Review: Could I just ask who actually owns the NARS duo in Orgasm and Laguna? A lot of you? Well I don’t have the duo but whispers on the internet says that the shades are similar as well as the packaging. Personally I’m not a huge fan of blushes with glitters in it but this blush doesn’t show that much glitter on my skin. Same thing goes for the bronzer as I mainly use bronzer to contour but the glitters don’t show up that much on my skin which is nice. I don’t have to worry about reflecting light off as much to the point where I can be a glitter bomb. Wear time is pretty good about 6 hours on my skin (it’s oily but lately it’s been dry due to the weather). I really like this product and it does work to multitask which is great. The packaging is nice and sturdy and the big mirror included is really nice. Overall, I’m going to join the legions of people who absolutely adore this blush and bronzer duo.

Cost: $3USd @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I would as it is a great everyday blush color and the bronzer works well and who can’t resist the fact that it’s a NARS dupe.

Review: ELF Studio Powder Translucent

22 Dec

Hello everyone! Today is the start of a ELF review marathon so I’ll be starting with the translucent powder.

Description: A translucent mattifying powder to set foundation with.

Review: This powder works great as a setting powder and even though it’s not as pigmented as the Clarifying pressed powder (review here) it still has the smooth texture. I really like the way that this powder glides onto the skin it makes the face look a bit more flawless/airbrushed. The packaging is a bit bulky but it still has a nice sleek design as for the sponge that comes with the powder it works pretty well for touch ups. Overall, I think this powder is a good buy especially when you get it 50% off.

Cost: $3 USD @ eyeslipsface.com

Would I recommend this product? I totally would it’s a pretty good powder especially for those with oily skin types.
